Wasn't that more along the lines of those 'space soldiers' that were added at some point? I think they showed a captain and one other guy, wearing chunkier armour.

“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.”

Runnin up on ya.

Just read today's update for Deadzone. Mantic have apparently learned a lesson and are actually looking at models before rushing them out the door. I'm happy that at least some of the models that I get from them will not be plagued by issues.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

I'm much rather have a few weeks delay than plastics with misaligned feet.

Ditto thus my happiness that we're not going to revisit Man-at-Arms gate.

Statements like:

"We’re sorry that this will take a little longer to reach you but we were not prepared to ship you a sub-par quality product especially because the improvements could be made with just a 5 or 6 day delay. We are working with our manufacturer to re-work the tool."

really do augur well for the future of proper hard plastic production of Mantic figures. We have already seen this attitude with the plastic Enforcers (where, lets face it, they had no wiggle room to feth them up) and it is great to see it continued. The fact that they are delaying the retail release also protects them from kicking from some backers. Good work Mantic, here is hoping that the next sprues are up to scratch.

This should bode well for their Dungeon Saga and Mars Attacks stuff then?

I think this is great news. I'm just not sure I believe any sort of manufacturing problem in China can be solved in 5-6 days, but at least they are getting fixed. The Basilean debacle was the biggest missed opportunity in wargaming I've ever seen. Also a textbook example of being pennywise and pound foolish. I still can't get over how bad everything was.

Hopefully they blow everybody out of the water with the Enforcers in Peacekeeper armor. That could be a real game changer.

if it's just one vent location that has to be added to the tool, it's not entirely infeasible. Would be a short pipeline on the manufacturer's end but that's certainly possible.

They then have to set up to do several hundred to several thousand shots of the mould and somehow get them to the UK. Unless they're air expressing them over, I can't see how that's going to work in "5-6 days".

Interestingly, the update talked about how "The Forge Guard sprue was due to be in the warehouse on the 15th August." Yet mission control said the 10th.

While I think it's great that they're fixing the messed-up models rather than sending them out, I don't expect their given timeframe is in any way accurate.

They're probably air mailing them in. I believe the 5-6 days is the amount of time to sort the issue, but not the total delay. I'm optimistic of 'by the end of the month', if they get the date confirmed.

Chinese New Year or bust. I'm also willing to put money on the probability of them missing some fairly bothersome flaw that greatly devalues the kit in the eyes of war gamers.

Fortunately, with my expectations set this low, I should be pretty content about the end result.

So... Chinese New Year or Bust, then?

OK, sounds official to me.

Spoiler:

Now I wish I could remember if I ordered 3 bugs or 6... They look awesome, and I think the softer boardgame plastic is less of an issue on big bulky things like those.

That does look very cool!

Really like the dead marine set as well (sadly don't think I added those ones to my pledge).

That does look good, is it a resin version though?

Again, really good painting and composition of the picture. And it is a very cool figure.

I'm very much regretting asking to be and then being released from my pledge, this game has some really cool stuff. I wish it had come out before DeadZone.

Is that giant lobster supposed to be a giant ant, or a giant spider?

I think the lobster is the giant ant.

Well if it looked like an ant or spider still, it would barely qualify as a mutant!

And to be fair, it looked like a lobster in the concept art and what ever else they showed us during the campaign too.

Those are fantastic!! I'm very impressed by those. I'm trying to figure out what I could actually use them as though, unless they can be used in Deadzone or the future of warpath...

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

That's making me glad I got 3 ants and 3 spiders ; p Now to practice ant and spider noises as I stomp them across the board at each other. (spoiler: ants win because haet spiders) Also looks ridiculously easy to paint like that ; p Prime, basecoat, wash. Even I can do that!

I'd take months delay if necessary to ensure quality models, let alone weeks. I'm probably the most upbeat in the DFG thread at this point which is 1.5 years late (so far) so that gives some idea of how fussed I am about timeliness compared to quality though ; p

Okay, I'm finally starting work on the fortified stuff...what the hell?! How am I supposed to put this stuff together? Wasn't there a tutorial floating here somewhere? The pillars just don't seem to work.

The straight sided supports worked fine when I built mine, but for the corners I ended up just cutting off the tabs and gluing them directly to the bunker. It's not like I'm going to be tearing it down, after all.

Now showing Catachan Jungle Fighters and World War zombies!

Painting total as of 30th November 2025: 136 plus a Deva King statue

Painting total as of 12/31/2024: 107 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain and two walkers and a quad mech and five giants

Yeah, I figured that might end up being the case. Bugger!!

I want it on record that I'm not pleased about this, for anyone who only sees me as a Mantic Fanboi!!
