left one looks better... i always used just a black basecoat and then drybrushed the old GW gold...(forgot the name ) then a brown/black wash... and done^^

if i found these non-wallet breaking backpacks i would use them for all my marines... chaos backpacks look way better then the standard vanilla marine ones...

Honestly the washed one looks less 'gold' than the other one, and therefore more Brass. Maybe just the lightest touch of some red, to just suggest a little bit of oxidation in the deeper corners and further the feel of 'brass' as opposed to 'dirty gold'.

Hello all 3 of you!

I have not been idle. I have been painting. While I don't have much free time here at work, what free time I do have is spent painting.

I am just about done with my Berzerkers. A few touch ups here and there, I need to paint the "World" on the the World Eaters shoulder pads. And paint the bases. So there will be one more picture of these guys when I am at 100%.

I'll probably wait until I get home and can get some decent lighting, and a better camera.

So far, a fair start on my CSM 1st squad:


But now for the part I am really excited about, my first fully painted Daemons!
First, my test Bloodletter: It started out with a lighter red than I had intended, but I like how it came out.




And a Khorne Herald. He's the one I will have in the Chariot/Blood Throne, The base is magnetized so I can have him joined to an infantry squad.

one can clearly see you have spent ages on the bone and horn parts... paid it´s due from what i can see

also...i dunno if one could say it like that but your brass on the wrists and so on looks really "fresh" i like that... it is probably an odd figure of speech... i tend to make it up as i go along... but that is the impression i got...

most have not finished bases... what´s your plan here?

Thanks Vik! The bone is actually very easy, and my least time-consuming part.
I forget the name I use as the base, but it's a GW paint, and it's some sort of Sand color, then a brown wash, and the highlight is Ushtabi Bone, or something like that. I really like the effect.

The brass is Balthazar Gold, brown wash, and then a Vallejo Rhulic Gold Highlight. I didn't use it on all of the Berzerkers, just a few, as I was trying to get my favorite scheme down. But it comes out really nice.

The bases will all be similar to my Spawn's base:


I like the dry dusty dead feel. Goes well with all the red I think.

Not much new to update. I did make a new conversion...I had that old metal Kharn just laying around...I was going to paint him and sell him, but I figured why let such an iconic figure go to waste?

So, I decided to make him into a Juggernaut Lord with Axe of Khorne and Goredrinker!





And I did get you a new and I hope better picture of the Berzerkers.

Looks good mate I like the mix of red with bone and then the godly brass edging, has a nice gritty feel to the colour scheme.

Love those juggernaughts have a great mix of beast and machinery, good use for such an epic miniature and should creat a striking pose on the table or in a cabinet like wise.

Have you pinned the double head axe by any chance, I only ask as it looks like some damaged to the pole grip section I can't clearly tell though on the Ipad

Yes, I did damage the shaft of the axe, it was too thin, and was weak. So I tried to run a drill bit all the way down it, but it came out half way down. Good eyes!

I wonder if I need to fix it though, it might look good as battle damage.

I would keep it as is adds to the character of the model IMHO, that's why I asked as I was not sure if it was meant to be like that or just a matter of circumstance.

OK, so a few small updates:

I've been working on a Predator. Even though there is no option for it in Khorne Daemonkin, I might Ally in some CSM at some point.

Anyway, here is my WIP, I'm still waiting on a Dozer Blade, and I have some more sculpting to do, particularly on the World Eaters Icon on the front, and the Daemon thing on the Autocannon Barrel. Lots of magnetized parts!

The first one started out as a DP of Tzeentch, but he has been re-born.


I have also been working on the flying base for my Heldrake:

I want him to look like he's been torched, face melted, armor blackened and almost unrecognizable. Blood spewing from his severed arm... you know, messed up.

Also, I am hoping the cotton will hold some of it's shape when I paint it, and will look like smoke. We'll see next month!

Well, tha's all I have for now. Heading back to work this week, so hopefully I'll have some painting pics next week! I'm bringing an Old Metal Bloodthirster, some Bloodletters, Flesh Hounds, and a Rhino.

the flying base looks vicious...the facemelt already reminds me of the last crusade...you know that scene i am referring too

i really like that predator version of yours...it will pak a hefty punch...and i can only nod in the highest approval for the front plate.... that looks amazing!

Old skool rhino hay you know I was never a fan of those at the time, however as I have got older they kind of have hold on me now must be a childhood memory thing.

I like the front plate nice PC work there like the barrel added to the back as well gives it a slight Russian vibe to it.

Demon is looking evil and big as they do.

As for the flight base I like the marine with his scorched face yes Vic I see where you are going with that

So, I have been looking at what people have been doing with the new Age of Sigmar models. I have seen some conversions using the Sigmarettes or whatever they are, but not much using the Khorne models. They look like they would make great Berzerkers.

But I haven't seen any evidence of it. (apart from just slapping a Chaos Backpack on them)

Does anyone know of anyone doing that? Let me know!

Old Skool cool kitbash and the skulls are a really nice addition, not feeling the scratches to be honest I think your lining is throwing it off.

I think from what I have seen is you do part of the lining black and the other side silver/white to give the sense of depth and light reflection.

O yes I can't find that page of the chaos marine conversions using AOS models, I have found loads of the Empire though if I do find them I will let you know as soon as mate

Plenty of the old school stuff, and nicely mixed with some newer stuff. Chaos army is coming along nicely there!

Been busy. Life, stockpiling rifles and handguns, Christmas shopping...you know, normal life stuff.

But I have been doing some painting.

But only some of it has been for Khorne, I have wandered back into the warm embrace of Nurgle....again....and it feels so good....

Anyway, the Khorne offering I have is a test model for my female cultists:



I left her fairly plain, I don't want to spend too much time on cultists.

On the Nurgle side, I also have a test cultist:



Same plan, not too much detail, but I think they both came out fairly well.

Also, a batch of Plague Marines:


These guys I spent more time on, but it was still a pretty quick method. Nurgle is SOOOOO much easier to paint than Khorne!

Hello again sir and welcome back, you seem to be jumping all over the place here a bit of that and a tad of this.

Mind you I can talk Nurgle now then is it, all those lovely greens and Browns with a bit of grotty flesh thrown in.

Is that an old Phoenix club miniature I spy there well the legs and torso at least, are those WG arms on there ?

I got the legs and torso in a trade a long time ago. I got the arm bits on ebay, not sure what company makes them, but they were called Zombie Survivors females or something like that.

The heads I sculpted a few years back. The other female head option is on the next one I'm painting.
