Hi, i know its been ages since my last post, sorry about that.

Anyways, here are a few more pics, one whole squad is finished now, so im going to move on to Inq lord Rex.

Iv added some lighting effect to the plasma gunner

Melta Gunner has got a new base

I also added a chipped paint effect on parts of the armour, i found it quite hard to do this on black armour and i still working on the method.

And here are a little set of teasers

C&C as always, very welcome.

Great painting! Really top notch. Link above said broken first time but then worked ok.Some questions spring to mind having had a good look at your minis:
How do you get such great detail? Do you use a magnifier? My eyes are not great but no way can I even begin to pint such fine highlights. How long do they take you? Do you ever get to play a game with them or are they more for looking at? What about weapon options, e.g. Heavy bolters are considered by a lot of IG players as not very good compared to say auotocannons, does this bother you? I agree in your choice of army, I have a WH army too, but do you use them, and are you worried that they might be about to get "squatted"? Where did you get those teaser models and cool backpacks, forgeworld stuff?
Finally, models like these deserve the best photography to show them off, what is your lightingand camera set up like? Keep up the AMAZING quality work, and keep us posted.

"How do you get such detail" - Now you may think me being modest, but i don't feel that the IG minis are that detailed, i did try to add detail with FW stuff lighting and chipped paint, even so, they not as detailed as say, the rex figure above. Painting wise, i don't use a magnifier, although i think i should, just to kinder on my eyes, i do fond myself going a little cross eyed after a while.

"how long do they take you" - i'm not sure really, i don't tend to time myself, as i don't paint one mini from start to finish in one sitting, but i reckon i takes me around 5 hours on/off. but i'm sure i could do them a lot quicker if i didn't get distracted so much.

Camera/Lighting - nothing great really, could do with a better set up. Sony cyber shot 8MP and a few desk lights, one with a "white Light" bulb.

As for the rest, i don't ever play 40k, i have an understanding of the rules but i'm more about the fluff and painting to be honest, so im not really bothered what others think about my weapons choice, well not too much. I chose the heavy bolter only because of the model look i wanted. What do you mean by "squatted" btw?

The teaser model is the forge world Inq Rex miniature.

Firstly, Thanks for the Golden Demon comment, not sure i'm there yet but would be great. I'd me more interested in doing some work for GW or getting published in WD, but again i think i'm not quite there yet.

As for the lighting effect, it the first time i have ever tried it. What i did was, start by washing the effected area with purp wash, then mixing the light colour into each colour on the effected surface, E.g. purple into green, purple into black. Then mixing white and stone into the mix to lighten up each layer, finally a watered down wash to bring the highlights together. As for layers i didn't count them but when highlighting there should be a min of 3 layers, but the more the better, i would recomend 4 and a wash.

Well i think that covers everything, i hope it helps.

Thanks again for the comments.

I think "squatted" refers to the eradication of the Squat army from 40k altogether and thus the same thing happening to another army, i could be wrong of course, and likely am as i could never see IG being wiped out, that would leave marines against all Xenos and is fluff-wise and marketing-wise a very very bad idea.

Sorry, yes "Squatted" as in go the way of the Squats (no longer supported as a legal army with new models, codex etc). I was referring to the Inquisition rather than IG, some of the threads here on Dakka seem to suggest they may get dropped (while others suggest a new codex is on the way soon, which to my mind would be really great as I love the WH/DH fluff but like to play an army that gives a fair chance of me winning). Brilliant work though and sure to be in WD soon, have you sent any pics in? They often feature themed armies and if they WERE going to release new Inquistion codex timing would be excellent for creating new interest. Cheers

everything looks really good, it may seem like a small thing to some, but my favorite part of your army is the care and subtlety you have given the poses of the models.

nice stuff!

General Mayhem - I haven't sent anything in yet, think i will try and improve a little more and get some more done before i do, thanks for the vote of confidence, might need a better camera set up to.

MajorTom11 - Im glad you have noticed the posing, i do try to make them look natural. I find, although great, the plastic kits don't give the most natural of poses. it only takes a little bit of GS.

And as for "squatted" i really don't see GW getting rid of the Ordos as its a Key part of there rang and fluff, but i could see Which hunters going that way, either that or GW are going to do an extreme makeover.

It surprised me how the Ordo Xenos never really had much of a mention in all of this. Sureley they deserve a place alongside the Ordos Malleus and Hereticus?

Not really an update as such, but had what i think is a good idea, for heavy support, im thinking an inquisitor in dred armour. Maybe make him stand taller with a sword/shield. What do you think?

If you could get it working then that would turn out pretty cool.
Do you mean hard-wired in or more a battlesuit idea?

Maybe do something like the old Patlabor Mechs:

The pilot is actually mounted in the torso behined the flak armour, the head is where the optics are at.

I get what you mean, personally I think a set of mobile armour would look better that haveing someone near death wired into a life support machine with guns.
I'll see if I can find any more mechs with Swords for you

Not a secret really, Its undercoated in white spray, 2 thin coats, then 2 thin coats or Dheneb stone, a thinned down wash of Devlan mud all over and lastly a thin black wash in the chips etc. Any other painting questions, ill be happy to answer.

Yet another small update, Iv been experimenting with plastic card, but haven't really done much painting, iv put some foundation colours on my Rex mini, but haven't got much further, here are the results.

And my own ideas for a Ing lord in Termi Armour, Its VERY WIP, got loads of green stuff work to be getting on with but the basic idea is there, Im thinking of putting a Hammer in his power fist.

Any C&C very welcome.

I love the plasticard work. The chest is great the way it tips its hat to the Cadian carapice armor. I think the shins stick out a bit too far. I had the same problem when I was redoing the legs of my plague marines. In the end I would cut back a bit of the shin guard, glue the plasticard to it and then green stuff the gaps so it looked natural. Awesome stuff! And your painting.... mmmmm good stuff!

Thanks, i did the chest to try and fit it in with the rest of the army, might do another couple of concepts before i go to town on the GS, i might also invest in some other termi minis as the base mini here is from the BR set, although i am thinking of scratch modeling the final concept.
