I was thinking of adding a plasticard circle at the top of the fins, surrounding the tower, but I have 2 different ideas about the way I could do it. I'll try to post pics of both possibilities soon.

If any of you have ideas for the silver tower I'd be glad to read it!

Yesterday I took some time during my lunch break to take pics of the two possibilities I've mentioned for the silver tower:

The idea is to build some sort of "crown" surrounding the toxer. It could be a flaming halo of some kind, or a ring with pink /blue horrors dancing or running on.

What do you think? which way should I build it?

I think that the second idea would be better, it would make it look more like a tower if it had 'battlements'. Great work so far!

I second the second! every tower needs places for ranged combatants to fire from

Also, the horrors cavorting around sounds fun!

2 is always better than 1!

I also think number two, maybe add the horrors and paint them like statues? I think it will look pretty cool either way.

Well guys, you all seem quite unanimous!

I'll try to get some plastic horrors and work on the ring design soon.

Something incredible happened last week-end: I've been painting!!! Even more incredible: one of my models is not a WIP anymore!!!
One of my lords is now fully done and varnished and the Lost Hunters have received some more colors. The Lost Angels are nearly done too (just some details on the weapons to finish).

Nothing new about The Lost or the silver tower, but I thought I could show you some models I'm working on to use with my CSM armies (Death Guard, World Eaters and The Lost).


(I know, Bile looks like an evil drag, that's intentional)


By the way, what do you think, should I create new threads for my other CSM armies or use this thread for all of them?

Ok, then I will update this blog with more than just The Lost. Aside from this legion, I'm working on my 1500 pts world eaters army for the French Throne of Skulls on May 2011.
You've already seen some pis of the defiler, now here are some pics of the possesed I've been making last week:


The heads need GS (they have been resized since the cranium length was ridiculously long -if they were supposed to have heads shaped like this, they couldn't move because the spikes on the backpacks would block them! ) and I will have to sculpt their necks.

I've also finished to paint the Lost Hunters. The whole squadron is done at last!


Now, here's the big chunk: I've started my Pendulum of Chaos!


I will convert the Rat ogre to a Chaos spawn and the plague monks to faceless servants, but I still don't know which solution I will use to hold the pendulum. (or perhaps I will make two magnetic swapable versions)
Now here's a first building test:

I'm not sure of the height of this test. Should I cut all the lower part of the wooden chassie or not?And if I do so, where exactly should I cut?
What do you think?

I've think you should keep it as it is, the contrast between two building materials is great and really shows a lot of chaos' ramshackle nature.

I say remove all the wood, it wont last long in the warp *hint hint* but I also think it looks a bit out of place on chaos stuff.

Very nice! I never really liked the Lord model too much (always seemed too boxy, like he had no range of motion) but you really make it work for you. That sword especially is great looking; I am thinking of doing a similar thing for the ensorcelled weapons on my chaos knights, and if so I will be coming back here for reference

I also really like the look of that pendulum. Some metal plates on the wood might not be remiss though.

I absolutely love the defiler and the pendulum of chaos. Were they hard to make?

Really like what i'm seeing especially the lesser demons.

I think I'll go with Wehrkind's idea and add some metal plates on the chassie. (It would be far too much work to remove all the wood and I'm not sure of what would remain of the model if I did so)

@ Cardinal Xaphan: Thanks! For the defiler the torso was the only difficult part (not the building itself, but the cable and GSing). If your interested in making such a model, go check Lemmingspawn's article about the Ripley Pattern Defiler (http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/211345.page#286949 ).
Bringing the pendulum to that stage was a child's play but I'm still at the first steps of the conversion and I think it's going to get more complicated when I will start to use plasticard...

About The Lost, I've been working on the possesed and termies yesterday, there is still a lot to do but at least I do it (at last).about my other armies I've ordered an AOBR dread to build a new Death Guard dread the same way I made my World Eater dread (my pride! )


Please keep commenting, every suggestion about my WIPs is welcome!!!(in fact I need sugestions! I'm working on so many different things that I can't focus on the details for each one so please, help me!)

Looking at the build for the pendulum, I gotta say, it may take a bit of effort, but with a bit of GS and a few simple techniques, I think you could get it to blend quite nicely without having to lose the wood... and really, as it stands, without much change, I gotta say, the paintjob would really be the only make-or-break for that particular project.

Mmm, dancing in flames would be good. Just generally cavorting around enjoying the mayhem caused by the Almighty Tzeentch!!

You're right, it might be the hardest part of the project, but I'm not in a hurry so I will probably take my time for the paintjob, posting regular progress and asking for painting advices.

Hmm, yeah they can prove quite tricky. Hard to sculpt from GS, maybe armorcast has some bits??

Or maybe you could just put them in smoke, the kind you do for explosions??

Well Armorcast doesn't have the kind of flames I'm looking for, and I will probably have to make them myself with glue or GS, but if you or anybody find some good flames bits I'd be really interested (I'm getting lazy these times ).
Concerning smoke, I'm affraid it would take too much place on the ring.

Even if you don't win the lottery I accept to be paid with bottles of Dr Pepper or Irn Bru and Cadbury chocolate bars (and If you add some Dr Who DVDs, I would deliver it to you personaly )

Haha, if you come over with models, you can watch Dr Who DVD's with my wife and me (original Dr Who, not new Dr Who )... plus there is a supermarket over the road for never-ending Dr Pepper, Irn Bru and Cadburys

The tower is extremely awesome, I really want to see it when it is done.
