Actually no - we're not talking about the semis here. The trolls were bringing up another tournament, and the game in question has a batrep HERE for your perusal, commenting, and discussion.
In fact, l think that more discussion about playing time should be kept to that thread. Where slow play was the issue and also the location of the discussion. Thanks!

I imagine that comment is directed at Blackmoor as well, since he brought it up in your thread.

If you feel personally targeted, fine - comment was directed at Blackmoor too - just as long as the discussion here stays about 'Ard Boyz.

It's not that slow players shouldn't be allowed in tournaments, it's that 40K wasn't designed around a time limit. To be fair, it wasn't designed for tournaments either. Tournaments are unique in that you don't have all day to sit around and play a game, and you're supposed to challenge yourself to play better than you normally would. If you alotted extra time for the slow players, tournaments would find it difficult to finish even small groups of people in one day. The time limits are there to allow the tournament to function, and tournaments are decidedly different than regular games. I don't think anybody is saying that slow players are bad players. It's just that tournaments, especially on the national scale, require a faster thinking and moving mind. If you are physically incapable of doing that, that's what friendly games are for. They're for the fun, slower paced games, but also to improve yourself for said tournament. EDIT: Oops, brought this discussion into this thread again. Sorry.

I want to comment on this, as I had not read this thread yet.
I don't understand all of this hatred and animosity for DoP. He has a strong personality, that is for sure. He is competitive, that is for sure. However, every Pm I have sent to him has come with a response and no hint of rideness, animosity, arrogance, or whatever. Even when I asked newbie questions, he answered them. I am not a fanboi of him, but he has my respect as a great player and tactician.
Tourneys have to have a time limit for the nature of what they are. 45 minutes to deploy Rhinos is unreasonable.
People join tourneys for different reasons. One of them is to have fun, another is to win. I am also competitive, and have said/done things in tourneys that I later regret. We all do, and some of us travel great distances and lose alot of sleep around tourney time. It makes everyone grumpy.
This battle was cool. I hope if I ever have a chance to play DoP in the future, he will give me the constructive criticism part. All amateur players and even some pros need it to improve.
