the best advise is to have a steady hand and practice fading. Practice makes perfect

I'm a huge fan of this Tyranid force, but I've gotta say, the Hierophant gives me a headache every time I look at it .

I really liked the bigger models, but all the small ones looked kinda the same. I did not like them.

But still, the big ones are awesome.

That's how they should look IMHO.

Numberless swarm vs. Monstrous, Imposing Creatures.

Absolutely amazing army and one helluva job Nard. You should be rightly proud, it's really, really impressive.
My only qualm is I reckon (but i'm no expert, not even close) the bases would be better off contrasting slightly to the models.

Still, it's a great looking army. GREAT.

"As I recall, your face was tortured. Imagine that - the Master of the Wolves, his ferocity twisted into grief. And yet you still carried out your duty. You always did what was asked of you. So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now."

I hate your color scheme, but your level of skill is very very commendable and totally makes up for it.
Did you use an airbrush at all? Especially on the bigger models?

Nard, I really like your models and the bases, how did you make the tentacles on the bases?

Echo the tone of the thread. I like the scales the best, the shift from the white-ish to grey is incredibly smooth. The smartest part is that you stuck with just a few colours. I am struggling with keeping the number of colours down to a minimum, but I always fail. It will therefor take more than four years for me to finish, for sure. Smart move there, Nard!

Thanks you all for your comments

randomentity: I did not use an airbrush. It is all done by layering (feathering each layer).

linkohki: The tentacles were made out of green stuff.

I used scorched brown faded into bleached bone. For the purple i use lich purple faded into tentacle pink. The techique is just layering and feathering.

Actually this unusual painting for tyranids seems great to me Really good job there!
