Rumor flying around that the stormraven will be available to other chapters via apoc formations. I hope this isn't true and just some hater speak:(

Agreed...whether or not you like how GW has 'built' it - the sum of its parts = awesome model. Can't wait to get.

"Apocalypse Only" for other chapters would equal 'no sale' for me.

And, I'd imagine, less sales for GW too.

"Requiring" 3+ Stormravens in Apocalypse? No thanks!

It's available to all Space Marine armies already via Apocalypse, which is to say anyone could use one with their army in Apocalypse even though the selection would be from the BA or GK Codex while the rest of their army might be from Codex SM or Wolves, etc. Remember, in Apocalypse one can use models from multiple army books. In this case, though, one could easily paint the model in their army's livery so that it looks like it "belongs" rather than having it appear as an "ally" unit. If they don't make rules to use them with Codex Space Marines, I may paint one for my Spears Of Ares anyway to use in Apocalypse games.

In two years, I have never played apoc. It would be super slowed of me to buy three for apoc only. Now if they make it to where any chapter can use it for tourneys. I would buy three now in advance order.

One thing people arn't discussion and I think it bears fruit here is that will bloodstrike missiles make the conversion across.

They will probably become Knightstrike missiles for the Grey Knights .... Maybe???

I assume if they get an any space marine release they may become the Vanillastrike missiles.

Maybe those are too likely to be jokes actually.

I've got it from a secondhand source that the next White Dwarf (though this might be March's, not February's) will have a Chapter Approved for the Stormraven. That said, secondhand info, so be skeptical.

Kinda sucks... It would have been nice to keep them unique-ish, but then again it makes no sense money wise, so i guess we will have to share!

I can more than agree with that, I think White Dwarf will be all for trying to sell more copies by doing something like this. I'd say it would be a trick missed if they didn't.
Will have to get one for my imperial fists, they need a faster way of getting across the board.

It would make business sense to give the storm raven to all Space marine Chapters in order to sell as many as possible to maximize profit.

The Storm Raven as it is in the Blood Angels codex isn't that appealing rules wise. Its great if you go first but at av12 with a couple eggs in its basket you have to reserve going second.

The model is really ugly. Maybe it will looks less terrible with a swap to a Razorback tl las turret and removing the scoop part on top.

As previously helpfully already mentioned, I'll be building mine without the air intake and without the turret on top - and it will look great!

Nifty idea, looks like that will be fairly easy to do too. What with the intake being a separate part of it's own. Putting the turret on the underside might make it look more like a gunship as well. Huzzah!

I've long wanted a Baal Pred in my DIY chapter of marines, even if it was 0-1. Why you make a hyper effective anti infantry tank for an army that specializes in HtH I'll never know...

The Stormraven... well, I'll see the rules on it first. Looks to me like $70 spent on something that won't be playable next edition.

Good news. This is the best time in the hobby. Full of promise. GW lets us down each time and we know it but secretly we're hoping that this is the edition that GW gives us a balanced game that can also be played competitively at tournaments. I'm loving it.

the other question is whether or not your opponent would consider white dwarf rules to even be something you can use without his permission... i'm waiting to see if my deathwing can get a storm raven.. if so, i'll get a single one to convert. if not, i won't despite having a 5,000pt BA army. My BA are done and all older edition models; having a new sculpt ruins the OOP model theme that i've acquired (but didn't intend to.. my army is just old!).

If it's just like the Nightspinner it's official to play anytime and anywhere you want. Granted that's subject to the normal limitations of your opponent wanting to play you. But as for official events it would be legal.

Hey, if it's February or March's WD then it would be legal for Adepticon right?

Bad news by BramGaunt over at Warseer:
Just skimmed through feb WD.

There are NO rules for the Stormraven to use it in other armies. The complete rules, however, are in the WD - including pointcosts, special rules, options, but no sentence that you may use it in another army than GK and Blood Angels. Punchline, all that is missing ist the wording "the Sr is a heavy support choice for all SM Armies" The Hobbyarticle states the SR to be a Space Marine vehicle.
Using the Storm Raven outside of Ba/Gk armies is therefor a gentlemens agreement.

BTW the magna Grapple is just a small round elevation like a sucker cup with hinted at claws.

I built the Stormraven for my local GW today. I have to say, the model is surprisingly good after seeing the pictures of it. There simply is not a single photo of the thing out there that does it justice.

BTW the magna Grapple is just a small round elevation like a sucker cup with hinted at claws.
There's also a winch next to what looks like the Grapple with cable reeled in on it, making it appear as if the magnet can descend on a cable to pick up or drop off the Dreadnought it carries.

For whatever reason, I'm having a had time swallowing this one. For one, why bother putting some of its rules in the WD, and then not saying what armies it can be used for, and why leave out who can use it (and in what FOC slot) and even bother having the rules in there?

If they want to sale more of the Stormravens they ought to make them available to ALL 40k Models. Heck, why not fantasy too?

Well, the Stompa was more expensive, for just one army (with no chance to make it fit into any other army) and not even for standard games but only Apocalypse games. Still it sold so well that GW will do more big kits like this.
