Who besides Stickmonkey has talked about a Flyers expansion?
As someone pointed out, many other people. And the tidbits I threw in include a little more than just "at the store" chatter, though like a lot of people, citing sources would be indiscreet.

but with BA definately and GK almost certainly getting the Stormraven, I am pretty confident that this will be confirmed in due course and there will be Stormravens all around!
And definitely too, hopefully.

It certainly would be a better financial move for the model to be usable with all versions of their most popular selling range and more fun for the modelers, collectors and gamers with those models.

I expect there will also be a special spikey Stormraven released for CSM players that will cost £15 extra.
Actually, that would be awesome, which is to say that as long as they legitimize game use of it by Chaos Marines, I'm pretty sure us converters can take care of the rest with or without buying an extra spiky sprue.

Warseer mods are very quick at closing threads. They even banned all Tyranid rumour threads when people insisted on posting rumours on units bigger than a Carnifex other than the Trygon (Tervigon as seen on the cover, Tyrannofex, Harpy). So closed rumour threads on Warseer don't mean anything.

I didn't actually say that, even though DAKKA DAKKA seems to some how of attributed the quote to me. Weird.

Anyway...

I wasn't doubting the release of several new vehicle kits. We've seen the Storm Raven and Jes Goodwin has confirmed the DE fliers. I was actually calling into question the validity of some kind of summer expansion or rules similar to Spearhead set centered around fliers. It wouldn't surprise me if something like that did pop up, but I don't think we've actually seen any reliable rumors to back it up yet. Just wishful thinking.

Anyway, while the text you quoted certainly indicates the development of new kits, I don't see anything there that leads credence to the so called "summer of fliers". While it's easy to assume that we'll see a large release of 7 or so fliers alongside an expansion this summer, it's just as easy to believe that we'll see the Storm Raven next month, the DE fliers in a few months and then nothing else any time soon. Again, what we have is a little bit of rumor and a lot of speculation, and it feels a lot like the rumor mill has jumped the gun on this one.

Your reasoning is flawed: it assumes that GW listens to it's customer base, which we know to be false...

I'm actually interested in the prospect of converting a Storm Raven to have a demonic maw for the nose area which Khorne Berzerkers would charge out from.

With all of the rumors of the additional fliers I think we are more likely to see is the upcoming release of the more appropriate thunderhawk. But, I guess we will know soon. At any rate I would prefer they do it this way but I could see why they would just make the SR universal and hope to sell a entire buttload and a half of the new kit. It's really a shame that they are not more forthcoming with their upcoming releases, especially if it is true that many of the models are completed already.

Yeah, chaos should get to use 'em, but id probably end up buying a "normal one" and converting it instead of spending 15 quid on some spikes.

I would be much more interested in the Thunderhawk... there must be more flyers on the way otherwise the dubious flyer expansion would be about valkyries, chibi's and forgeworld stuff!

There are loads of tanks so spearhead, other than a reason to make people buy more tanks, is a reasonable expansion but what will a flyer expansion bring?

As for stickmoney rumors they are trash. Now with the fliers expansion I could see it if it was added to apoc or they finally redo apoc. Or update it a bit. About 10 years ago I remember flyers added to the 40k and it was a crash and burn. No one seemed to enjoy it was clunky and just dumb. And basi g rumors off 2 models being released is poor judgement. So does that mean they are going to make an all dread army now? I mean they made a plastic dread.

Well considering that Chaos Space Marines don't even use Land Speeders, Plasma Cannons or newer Technology available to the modern Astartes, I can't imagine them receiving a shiney new Storm Raven...

Hell Talon on the other hand, now that would be sweet!
Or they could give the CSM nothing a watch as the players complain even more...

Now with the fliers expansion...
Remember Spearhead from last summer? I see the likelihood with the Fliers Expansion being another "new way to play" that utilizes fliers with an accompanying expanded rules set like Spearhead or Planetstrike, but only for playing that particular "expansion" of the game, not normal rule book and Codex only battles for the majority of players. Of course, with friends, one can use, add and toss out anything you like to make a game thematic and more fun.

Gathering the Informations.

No. Stormravens didn't show up until relatively recently(M41.97ish, I think. Really close to the current timeline).

There was a predecessor to the Thunderhawk, called the "Stormbird" that people sometimes equate to a Stormraven.
It's not. Stormbirds were much bigger than Thunderhawks, and replaced by the Thunderhawk in the end.

Anyways, I doubt we'd see the Helltalon/Hellblades for Chaos. They're associated with the Renegade Guard more than the Traitor Legions. It would be like the Marines getting a Valkyrie.

Just makes more sense for the Thunderhawk, in the end, to be released. You've got power armor, of all flavors, able to utilize it. Even the Inquisition uses them.

Not in any old background - the Stormbird and the Thunderhawk were the vehicles of choice.

The latest HH book, PROSPERO BURNS even notes that the Thunderhawk is a cheap, mass produced necessary piece of crap for the Great Crusade when compared to the Artistry in Motion that is the Stormbird.

Of course, GW can, and will, change the background at will.

But I think the latest BA Codex points to the Stormraven as being a more 'modern' discovery/invention...

Didntnyou know when you fall to chaos you give back your apothecary gear, land speeders, attack bikes, whirlwind, land raider crusaders, land raider redeemers, thunder hammer, storm shields, assault cannons, cyclone missile launchers, and special ammo.

Chaos makes you forget all the stuff.
