Very intimidating indeed! The lighting really does not do the models justice however so I will refrain from commenting on the painting until I can see them better. Fantastic work!

the weathered effects on the mini are so good, that given the oportunity to held it in my hand i would feel the urge to wash my hand afterwards^^...seriously the daylight brought out lots of lost detail... the head looks really good and gives a good reference to his namesake...
i like the powersword, the energy effect is really nice and you see this color choice not so often...
cheers, vik

The colour scheme for the power weapons is actually a way of easily telling what's what from a distance (with the colours so muted, it can be difficult pointint out exactly what's what from far away if you're not used to looking at them).
Orange are power weapons
Blue are lightning claws/stormshields/thunder hammers
That way, it'll be really easy to pick out what weapons are being used during massed assaults.

Hi Fafnir not sure if anyone else has the same problem but have redX for the first four pics. Liking what I can see lots, really nice work! ps Agree, the colour ID is a good move! might have to adopt and adapt that idea.

I like your theme a great deal - congratulations on coming up with a novel idea and executing it well - rare in space marine armies, IMHO.

Well, they fixed the lights, and they're wonderful. Even better than before (flourescent! no more yellow glow!).
So, in celebration, here's a few new pics of Woden, showing him in his full glory. I altered his face a bit to make him look more sickly to better fit his fluff ( which has been newly added to the Gallowsmen fluff topic, which you can read by clicking here)
Also, here's the powerfist executioner. After going for almost 5 months without paint, he finally gets some love.

Wow really different with proper light, I had the impression that the colours were quite muted but it is not the case. Love the army!

Woah... they actually have more colour than dirty! Now that I can actually see the grey... that's some nice stuff. And Woden is looking nice, but there's something about the Executioner I can't quite name... maybe the MK VIII plate he's wearing just seems more like some tube top than anything, showing the mechanics between that and the belt... But! Still liking your take on truescale

He was one of the prototypes, so he does look a bit... off. He was meant to be a really bulky redesign. I decided to not use the look in the end because it just took way too long to make one marine.
I'll provide more pictures of him with my next update.

Here's the guy that was supposed to be my count-as lemartes. You may notice that I replaced his head. That's because, when painted, his head looked eerily like Gary Busey. Needless to say, it had to be changed. Overall, I'm not happy with how he came out. For some reason, the washes ended up flowing all wrong and drying rediculously poorly. I think it's the primer. I've been using Vallejo white brush-on primer because the weather's been so rediculous lately (I can barely walk sometimes, let alone prime), and it's been pretty hard to get the right amount of water to primer. The worst part is that I can't really strip him and repaint, because I'm afraid I'll damage the greenstuff. For some reason, the washes just look horrible. I'd consider this poor sucker ruined, but I need him for the tourney. I tried to cover up as much of the model with mud as possible, but it's not going to get everything. I figure this guy and the other executioner I have to paint (because I primed him at the same time) will end up costing me major points in the painting judging. There's nothing I can do about it now either.
He was originally supposed to count as my Lemartes, but I'll just have him count as one of the normal Executioners (Death Company), and have the High Executioner from the first post replace him for stomping duties. Most people mistaken him for Lemartes anyway, because of his tall base, so it's a functional change too.
On a slightly more positive note, more pics of the Executioner from a few days ago. Once again, he's a prototype build, so his body looks considerably different from the other marines. I'm a fan of the overall look, but I can't justify the time spent converting each one to look like him.

As much as I appreciate my topics getting attention, this blog is well over a year old and was finished that long ago.
Unless there's some relevant discussion concerning my truescales, I would advise against necroposting in the topic. Especially if it's just to post a picture exemplifying a meme.

just found this thread, as I've been going through hundreds of pages of "Your best conversion model". As I was only two pages into your thread, I missed the fact that I was necroposting.
So, as far as attention, your modelling is superlative.

Well, there was a thread in the showcase for that.
Oh well...
It's quite difficult to get a complete shot of the entire army all together, simply because they're so BIG.
