He'll be getting a light green paintjob, actually. Check my fluff topic in the Background section to see it.

so more of a jadeknife then...
had a read in a first part of the fluff...for my taste too gruesome. all that tortture is a bit to much for me. don´t get me wrong, your a good author and i think you write good and in a logical way. only that your backround for your chapter isn´t to my liking^^...
seems that in my life there is a bit too much torture atm... my wife insisted just yesterday to see the stieg larson film.... i hate something like that... for me it stops after the first clip in the head after that it gets obsessiv^^ not saying that your... a good author should be able to think out of the box and be creative meaning create someting new. and so you did...
hope i made myself clear^^

Oh, I thought you meant the colour of the marine. Yeah, the Marine will be green, but the knife will probably just be metallic. Obsidian sounds like a pretty good idea though... I'll probably figure it out when I actually get the guy painted.
And as for the fluff, I definetly understand. I'm not a fan of torture movies at all, and I'm a fairly squeamish individual if I say so myself. I kind of tried to channel that into the fluff for the chapter, since I wanted to build around a chapter that used and embraced fear and terror.

and there i thought the whole of the marines stood for the glorification of the corpse god and death as a whole^^
using it as a means to channel something...did it work?
i grew up with too many too good to be true heros in comics and the image stuck to me so i cant turn that page for me^^. tho executions is at least in the grim dark sometimes a nessercary means of achieving certain aims...

Fluffwise, glorification of death, although a large aspect of their rituals, is not the only aspect. Finding absolution for fallen marines/imperials is another large part of their methods, and then the obvious use as a tool to inspire discomfort and fear in foes.
They're essentially a combination of Odin, the "Cerements" story from Sandman: World's End, and the Spanish Inquisition.

As weird as it sounds, the Gallowsmen do it purely out of love. Where the Inquisition uses torture as a tool for interrogation and punishment, the Gallowsmen do it to purify and absolve others of their sins.
They're also significantly messier/showier about it.

Here's the last of the Honour Gaurd.
I replaced the plasma weaponry of the entire squad with Lightning claws. So the loadout is now 3*Melta, 2*Flamer, and 3*Lightning Claws. This'll give the squad a better edge in close combat, and should ultimately make them a lot more versatile. It also makes them compatable with the Chapter Banner should I use it with future expansions to the army.
It'll also mean that I'll be running the army without my beloved plasma. Which means no more of those wonderful moments where my entire army fries itself in one turn (seriously, it's happened) (as much as I love plasma, it tends to hate me with a firery passion).
I also gave him the base that the Novitiate had in the previous pics. The Novitiate's new base looks better on him.
And that just leaves me with 2 more marines to do. Although, in addition to being out of jump packs, I'm also out of melta guns (seriously though, I'm starting to run out of a lot of parts). So I'm in a bit of a bind right now...

I still love Plasma, just slightly less than I used to.
I'm not going to lie, anything with S7 AP2 and Gets Hot! makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside, even if it has an absurd tendancy to blow up in my face.

really love how you're going about the truescaling. i just wonder how you'll paint them, i imagine it'll be quite hard to go through all these layers of detail.
could you post a step-by step on the body assembly? i'd love to see how you connect the legs wehn you use the standard marine backpack.

I won't be using the standard backpack, they all use jump packs.
And it's a little late to do a step by step, since I just finished the last one.
But if there's one thing I learned about GSing and conversion, it's that if you ever, ever make a mistake, you can always cover it up by adding more accessories on top. And if you do it tastefully, not only does no-one notice the difference, but it actually makes it look cooler.
And as for painting... it'll be tough, but I have a week long break coming up, and hopefully I'll be able to trudge through that and get it all done.

I'm finally done the first part of this massive project: All major conversions are now complete. Jump packs for the Honour Gaurd squad are missing, and one of the Assault Marines needs a melta gun, but otherwise, the army's ready for painting (although I'll be adding a Dreadnought to the mix tomorrow).
First off, rebuilt the flamer Honour Gaurd. The only parts used here from the original model are the head and the right arm. I much prefer this version. It's also worth noting that compared to any of the other truescales, this one has the bulkiest and most intimidating (in my opinion) sillohuette, making it one of my favourite models in the army, right after the Sanctifier (the dude with the flag).
Here's the second redone Honour Gaurd. The only reused part is the melta gun and lightning claw. His pose looks kind of awkward right now, but once he has a jetpack, it'll make sense.
Here are the two Assault Marines that I made out of their old bodies. The one on the right is on a normal terminator base because I ran out of suitable resin bases, and the one on the left has no arms because I ran out of melta guns. If I can't secure a melta gun by the tourney, I'll just slap on a spare flamer or plasma gun. As for the base... I won't be able to find one until I go to Calgary again.
Lastly, a group shot of the entire army (sans dreadnought which I'll be getting tomorrow). Painting all these guys will be an absolute nightmare.

The keys and junk are tools for torture/execution/funeral work. The books and papyrus are records on various methods.
