Go into any gas station, a 20oz bottle of water costs, what, $1? 1 gallon is equivalent to ~6 - 20oz bottles. Gas isn't $6 a gallon where I live ($3.50 or so)

I don't get anyone who criticizes others based on their choice of product (XBox vs PS3), style (hipsters), music, or legal recreational activity. Really, how does other people's personal preferences matter to you?
I do get the people that criticize others based on nationality, race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. Those people are . I hate them, but at least I understand them.

Yeah, tap water is much less. But, the people (generally) who will complain the loudest about gas are the ones that bring 50 bottles of store purchased water with them to work.

Yeah, it's strange isn't it? People are very fast to be like "yeah, well you didn't think so when you XYZ" when the fact that you did it makes you more qualified to talk about why it's bad.

I don't get smugness. Especially smugness over something that is not important. I follow the NFL and if another guy brags to me about how HE (meaning his team) won X number of superbowls I think I will puke. Also why is it that most people who brag like this typically have the least personal accomplishments in their lives?
I HATE that, people who say "we" when he means the football team he supports.

There's pretty sound reasons for not eating carnivores. They tend to have a slightly higher parasite load (IRC) and certainly have higher levels of fat soluble toxins (so DDT, mercury, so on). It's much like eating tuna, but none of the taboos people have about food seem to apply to fish (with a couple of exceptions).
Also, the meat doesn't tend to taste as good as the meat of a herbivore (could be conditioning, but my dad has eaten fox, and says it is the foulest meat he's ever tasted).
Pigs are omnivores though- they'll eat carrion and even living things if they can, they're absolutely not fussy. I like them though. They're pretty smart, and much more interesting to work with than sheep (which I despise after working with them in research) and cows (which are easy to work with, but after taking an entire bladderfull of cow urine to the face, they have lost their appeal, somehow. Kids, work hard in school and become a scientist, and you too could be urinated on full force by a ruminant!)

People who say that they're 'not into music'. I find that completely bizarre.
Since this relates to my point a little, I'll chime in:
I am someone who says this, and when I do, what I *really* mean is 'I do not lower myself to limiting my music choice for reasons of social constructs'
I mean, how do you answer? 'Oh I like rap.' I think it's supposed to say a lot about you when, really, I
A. Don't listen to music that much
B. Don't let it define me
C. Feel above any petty squabbles about genres.
Although ironically I seem to be pumping out words about just that. Hrm. Hypocrisy?
Well actually, I believe that the cultural products and texts we consume DO define us to a certain degree, whether that be music, modes of dress, sport, food... whatever. We create and consume culture as a means of defining, decoding and articulating our experience of life as human beings. As creatures of abstract thought, we create stores of symbols as a means of communication and expression, so the things we consume at a cultural level can be said to 'define' us, as each piece of music we choose to listen too, or pair of jeans we decide to wear on a certain day say something about us in the choosing of them. STANDARD CULTURAL THEORY CAVEAT: This is not always a conscious process.
Anyway, I digress. What I'm talking about is people like biccat, who claims not to be interested in any music at all (apologies if I'm misrepresenting you here, bic) - I just find that very odd, as a person who lives and breathes it. To me that's like saying you don't like acting or visual arts. I also find it weird when people say that they 'don't read books'.

I like music, I'm just not interested in it.
Note that I also don't really care for acting or visual arts. They're interesting as scenery or decoration, in a historical context (the Louvre has, to me, more value as a history lesson than any artistic value), or for telling a story (movies, TV). But I really could care less about how this artist used stippling while this artist used some other technique.
Then again, some people apparently don't care about patent law and that, after the American Invents Act, Chapter 35 of the US Code will still require disclosure of the best mode, but will not allow a defendant to raise best mode as part of a defense of invalidity. CRAZY!

Madness!
See, you're different to what I'm talking about, in that case. I've met people who only own like, 2 CDs, and claim not to like music really at all. That's weird. I can understand people not being particularly interested in it, but not liking it at all?

I think I see what bic's saying Alb, I also say "I'm not into music" but I think your reading too much into what is essentially just an abbreviation meaning that you don't obsess over it. By saying your not "into" music nobody really means they don't listen to it do they? Every human has bought a cd for example at some point in their lives surely?!
Personally, what I mean by "I'm not into music" is...
"Like everyone I listen to quite alot of music, when I am driving or working out, or maybe doing housework or painting minis for example, but I really don't care where the band is from, how old the lead singer is, or what their influences are, and I wouldnt pay more than about $10 to go watch anyone play live, and I dont buy any of their merchandise and wouldnt be seen dead in a T-shirt with their name on"
Does that make more sense?
I mean, I have a very wide list of bands I like to listen to on occasion, and I listen to my mp3 player all the time, its got The Clash, Paul Simon,The Rolling Stones, Dire Straits, Blink 182, Bob Dylan, The Decemberists and about another 50 artists on it, but I always say "Im not into music" because im not into the whole "scene" that seems to go along with it. I love Elton John, but I wouldnt pay 50 quid to go and watch the fether.. I mean, I might go along if he was playing in the pub round the corner.. But only if it was free and it wasn't too expensive for a beer.
Oh and it wasnt too crowded either.
Ok well, I might not go anyway.
Case in point, my missus brother got us free backstage passes for Greenday (who I have liked since high school) in Manchester but I couldn't be arsed driving for an hour so we didn't go. I just thought "Ah and its full of annoying kids and its 4 quid for a gak pint so sack it"
To me, the above examples define doing the normal thing of listening to music, but not being "into" it, if that makes any sense.

Oh well.. feth knows. I don't think I've ever met anyone who doesn't listen to at least something!
There is a dumb guy who work's with a friend of mine who is semi-literate, reads nothing, and doesn't like anything other than boozing, and even he listens to music, he told me he has "Bat out of Hell" by Meatloaf on single and he just plays it over and over again.

That's understandable. I can't imagine why anyone would actually dislike music. I usually don't listen to it, but only because I'd rather listen to the news on the radio.
I do actually have a decent CD collection.

I've started listening to audio books as well as music when I paint. I've done a few good ones, and It makes a nice change.
And regards Lennon, I'm similar in that peoples personalities affect my judgement. Not as severely, because I will still listen to them, but not with any gusto, and Ill not spend any cash on their stuff.

People who criticize others for weary tight clothing.
People who bash on something without trying it out.
People who think that they are intellgent, then spend the day looking for way to troll Christians.
People who think that people who like Fantasy and Science Fiction are nerds.
People who try to be victims.

At least us Boro fans are constantly going "We are fething gak!"
