Was wondering the same thing myself...

Not for nothing though, the two last pieces of art shown in this thread are fantastic... BL has been very enjoyable for me in the past year or two, I feel they are markedly improved overall and doing a great job with both the time of legends series and the latest PH books.

If you look at the art, it seems like the green is supposed to be from light bouncing off the armor. Everywhere that the sun is not directly touching seems to be black, as it should be.

Nope it's green, sorry but the sky is normal colored and will only reflect it's own colors off of black.

Besides, only his armor is green, nothing else. So unless the invisible green sun has mysteriously decided to shine only on his armor, and then defy all the laws of physics and photonic behavior known to man by not hitting his face, the terrain and the bike/ ships too, that argument makes absolutely no sense whatsoever lol....

The artist has excellent tonal grasp and a very clear understanding of diffuse, ambient and specular lighting... It's either a mistake, or there is some reason he is in green.

The thing is though Tom, (at least on my monitor) it's just that one part of the left shoulderpad that appears to be green.

When you look at it closely, the part along the neck appears to be a continuation of the ribbon from the book. So it might simply be that they've decided the Deathwing and Ravenwing are going to have green shoulderpads where the Chapter symbol would be.

Editor's Note:
That's not to say that the armor might not be green and the artist futzed up or GW changed the Ravenwing or any number of things.

Maybe my monitor's dying or hell maybe my eyes are!

Good point - and congratulations to him and his family!

There's a myriad of reasons it might not be listed. Maybe they decided they wanted it fleshed out more to use as an eBook novella, or something like that.

Oh, that's a good guess too!

I'd go with Limited Edition Print Novella though, if I was speculating...

Normally I would too--but given that Kyme talks about something of his being put in as a non-limited edition novella, we might have a trend starting here...

I hope so.

The previous trend of charging $50 for a novella and then adding in ridiculous shipping charges on top of an already ridiculous price has got to go!

Ok, I got my Know No Fear but it's quite silver looking. Which I'm dissappointed about because all my other HH books are gold. Did something weird happen with this book that you guys know of? All the stores out here were shipped only silver ones. They couldn't be on a second printing already right? One guy tried to convince me it was gold just not as golden looking as the other ones. Looks pretty fething silver to me. Are your guys books....silvery?

No, no, my copy is wrapped in its usual gold-leaf cover, with a 9-carat spine and diamond-encrusted titular text. Then again, one did ensure that one purchased one's book on the day of release.

On a more serious note, while I don't have my copy at hand, I am fairly certain the lettering on the spine is its usual gold colour.

I did not know that, actually. I will check it depending how I like this. I thought Storm of Iron was a great book, but I also thought it was a major exception to the usual quality I have come to expect from the Black Library.

I actually stopped reading the Ravenor Omnibus to read the IW Omnibus. The first story is Storm of Iron, so reading that (again). Probably finish that tomorrow unless something comes up..

For some reason I utterly cannot get into Ravenor despite loving Eisenhorn enough to read it twice. I read the first book (so 1/3rd of the omnibus) and every time I pick it up, I get though like 10 pages and am like eh. I'm not a slow reader, I read that last Stephen King JFK phonebook novel in a single night, but this one just seems incapable of hooking me.

Okay, once you've read Storm of Iron I would actually put down that book and try to read/acquire " Dead Sky Black Sun"

-- http://www.blacklibrary.com/all-products/dead-sky-black-sun-ebook.html ebook only from the BL site currently, although the novel is collected in the Ultramarines Omnibus -- http://www.blacklibrary.com/warhammer-40000/Ultramarines-Omnibus-The.html

It's not vital that you do I reckon, but it will go someway towards expaling the whys and whatfors of what occurs a great deal.

There's enough of a recap that you won't be lost IIRC.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

I was wondering why doesn't Black Library offer Omnibuses as eBooks, because it comes out 10 USD more expensive (24.94 USD) to buy all the Iron Warriors eBooks (and you don't get The Best of Calth) than to buy the physical Omnibus book (15 USD).
The same can be said about any other Omnibus.
Now I would feel like a sucker buying eBooks from those Omnibuses since I am on a tight budget, but I really prefer that format.

I already inquired with Black Library and am waiting for an answer, but I'd like to know if anyone knows the reasoning behind (besides it's GW duh).

So its gold usually , except for canada...
.... or you got a misprint and its going to be really "collectible" because of that small difference.

Anyone knows what these colors on the backs are good for? Can't spot a pattern.
Some got green, others yellow, violet, etc.

Funnily, every novel has 'SF' printed on beneath those stripes, except Deliverance Lost. So DL isn't SF ???

I don't suppose anyone knows when a Salamanders omnibus is likely to come out?

I currently only have book 2, having borrowed 1 from a friend, not sure whether to buy 3 now or wait for the omnibus

Anybody know why?

It's a triumvirate of reasons.

1. I write much slower than most of the other authors - while I'm luckier than most in that it's my full-time job to write, I'm still a lot slower than they are.

2. Katie had a baby.

3. The Emperor's Gift took me almost a year.

I wasn't exactly dropped from The Primarchs; there was just no way I was going to make that deadline. The novella I was doing, Prince of Crows, will be in Shadows of Treachery at the end of 2012.

Yes, congrats.

As far as gold vs silver, I was just at the local GW, and several of the books had silver. (including KNF). One of them (I think it was Battle for the Abyss) had one copy with gold, and one with silver. So it seems pretty random to me.

Also, the Horus Rising picture on blacklibrary.com has the silver, but the audio of Horus Rising is gold.

It's not random. Gold is 1st Printing, Silver 2nd and Bronze 3rd or later. Don't see how Know No Fear could already be on a second printing but I guess it's possible. Maybe Abnett is popular or something.

Whatever it takes to keep weird timeline-screwups and other inconsistencies out of these books!
Congrats and thanks for the info!
