Easy: as you never expect Spanish Inquisition, you won't expect barrage from this launcher

Except EVERYONE expected the Spanish Inquisition. They gave you 30 days notice to give you time to prepare your defence or get your affairs in order.

Mind you, as soon as I see this on a SR, I'd expect a barrage too!

It'll take Marilyn Monroe, and Lao-Tzu, and Einstein, and Morobuto, and Buddy Holly, and Aristophanes…then all of this…all of this…was for nothing. Unless we go to the stars." Yeah, but not really... First off, the Edict of Grace was a public announcement that the Inquisition was in town, allowing "repentant heretics" a period where they could confess before the investigation into the town began and receive a milder punishment. It wasn't an individual notice. Furthermore, the Edict of Grace only existed for 8 years, afterwards it was replaced with the Edict of Faith, which recommended harsh punishment for those who came forward on their own. Since the Inquisition primarily dealt with investigating the sincerity of forced conversions from Judaism and Islam, there was little one could do to defend themselves. If you were "proven" to have fallen back into your Jewish or Muslim ways, you were punished, sometimes with death, and the evidence of "proof" needed was often very slim.

More on topic, I get a little nervous when I hear the name Torquemada in connection to the Inquisition. I know that GW has a character by that name and so the name is established in the 40k universe, but it still creeps me out sometimes. After all, Tomas de Torquemada was one of the primary backers of the Alhambra decree which expelled all of the Jews and Muslims of Spain from their homes in 1492. He severely persecuted those of Jewish descent who had converted willingly or by force, and in his tenure as Grand Inquisitor, he executed two-fifths of the total number of those executed by the Inquisition from 1492-1700, some 2000 individuals, most of which were Jewish.

And to me, the next thing they need to bring out should be named "Nemesis" from the old strip "Nemesis the Warlock" in "2000AD" comic. That's what I immediately thought of when I saw the name "Torquemada".

As soon as I came up with an idea of item to name this way we can do that. Obviously no way to be it any cc weapon.

But maybe our bionic minigun ? Afair, big mutant from Resident Evil 2 was called project Nemezis and got minigun?

d-usa wrote:
So who makes it is more important that how good the kit is?

To a degree, yes. But more importantly is what the kit is and how much value I am personally able to attach to that kind of model. While Scibor for example make some lovely models, I can't justify and simply will not purchase a Not-Space Marine for $50. (I won't purchase an actual one for that either, but that's not really our point.) Workshop's prices are already at that upper limit (and over it in some cases as well).

Scibor might be an interesting case for me as an example of what I am willing to spend money on. I might buy a single non-marine as a special character or for the sole purpose of having a model that I want to paint up and never play with. I wouldn't play a whole army of non-marines because even for my standards that would be too expensive.

They have a couple of figures I'd like to buy. Scibor are an odd example, as you say. I have a bunch of their resin parts, but the price and ...odd proportions of many of their figures usually puts me off. They showed off a couple of new figures recently a month or two ago (pics on Dakka) which I may actually buy - yes as "special" characters/models.

We all have our price limits, that is understandable. And I think we all agree that for every step the price for a non-GW product goes past a GW product there is a real risk of loosing potential customers. Value is a weird concept, and it does vary for every customer.

It seems that for you, a big portion of the value comes from something like this: "In game it's a rhino, that is the function of the model. If I want a rhino then I need a model that represents a rhino on the tabletop. A GW model represents the rhino for $gw. I don't want to spend >$gw to get a model that fulfills the same function." So it sounds that for a player like you the function is more important than the astethics of a model. So function is where you place the value for that model and looks or cool-factors don't justify paying extra. And that is understandable and there is nothing wrong with that. Sorry if any of my posts made you feel like I was putting you down.

While that would be a reasonable assumption it's actually incorrect. I don't actually get a chance to play often at all anymore, and I go through phases of model buying/painting and then not. I've been in the hobby for long enough now that I have so many unpainted models and vehicles, that I honestly never need to buy another thing, as I'm honestly going to die long before I paint everything I own. I've got a big tub of Forgeworld stuff I haven't done anything with, and I just dropped a reasonable order on Anvil's stuff to farm out into conversions. Puppetswar is next on my list of parts to buy and then hope to get around to building with. If it were about function for me, I'd just use cardboard rhinos and 2nd Ed marines...

So instead I'm on the other end of form - I have so much stuff I know I'll probably never finish/paint/play with that while I can justify paying say RRP for cool stuff, things that cost twice as much or significantly more than normal I just switch off. That's why I've been using back channels to buy a bunch of figures since the embargo - I'll only buy White Dwarf from my local GW, Spray paints and non-GW from my semi-FLGS (which I get to maybe 2-3x a year) and so forth.

Again though - that comes back to my initial feedback. If you check my post waaaaaay above, I said that the price difference for me is the difference between buying one or two, or eight.

Probably one of the few kits do far that I don't like. Quality seems like it is great as usual, just not a fan of the way it looks.

I need to find a way of putting those flamers on the Spartan..

The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal.

More like attack bike.

Plate on the top of it is roughly of the rhino's top hatch size.

No but it would be a great stand-in for an Aegis quad-gun with Bitspudlo's autocannon turret on top.

Wait. What ?1!?!?

Were you reading my personal wishlist or something ?

Price it under $28 and you have a serious Rhino replacement contender.

Looks awesome. Nicely designed.

Agreed. If the price is right you will sell boatloads. Plus, it looks like your razorback turrets can fit on the back hatch. So, people who buy one of the APC's are going to be twice as likely to buy your turret's. Nice call indeed.

that's pretty cool. I've always wanted a vehicle for my arbites models. these are dead good.

I very much like the chassis on it. Very nicely detailed (although the side doors appear to be lacking hinges... )

The wheels still don't work for me... maybe. I'm wondering now if some of that is just the picture angles, because it actually looks pretty awesome in the rear shot. Still thinking the half-track version will look better, though.

I like the wheels.

I wouldn't object to a set of tracks that popped in instead of the wheels either.

Nice looking APC, but the interior doesn't make sense to me. Are the soldiers supposed to sit on the floor, tumbling over each other during a fast off-road trip, gathering their weapons from the floor?

Assuming that it's intended for soldiers in some sort of powered plate armour, I would go with mag-clamping their feet to the floor and turning off the armour's power unit...
