@Red--with as much talent and experience as you have with making buildings, i would think an architectural mishap would be fairly easy for you--either a collapsed porch/roof/wall/etc, or something like the penrose stairs :



@Ruglud--you've already built a stone circle for an earlier LoER competition. someone metioned a stone circle, knocked over like dominos, with a gretchin to blame--i personally would like to see something along those lines. you could also "blow up" Big Berfa (yet another older contest entry), or do something else along those lines--some biga$$ ork project gone wrong. (just had another idea--you got PM!)

....after "completing" my test piece, I've not done anything towards the proper ones - I just keep wishing for some plywood to magically appear :-P

I call HERESY - blow up Berfa - how could you suggest such sacrilege... On the other hand - maybe that's just what she needs- a big rocket up the ar$e

I did have an idea though, just not sure I have the time or motivation to do it...

BTW - the architectural 'mishap' is a sure fire winner... And Red is THE scale modeller to pull that off

Yeah, Berfa is too precious to destroy 'accidentally'... One day she'll get a facelift and tummy tuck though, just not today !

I would like to throw my hat in but RL sucks at the moment. Work keeping me busy, busy, busy. However, like you say OMN, 9.5 weeks left... Hmmmmm.......

I am rather confused by who Bertha is. Or Berfa?

I am not in this one but, I had an idea for a Dakka jet being loaded by grots and the grots by accident loading volatile/unstable chemicals or bombs into the wrong area of the plane.

@Anvildude: Big Berfa was an ork gun emplacement that Ruglud made for a previous LoER contest. he has pictures of it somewhere in his gallery. it's pretty damn impressive, really, both in size and execution.

I don't know why everyone wants him to blow her up, though. That's a nice piece of work there.

However, you know something that's always annoyed me when people make Ork guns? They always have such thin walls on the barrels, which make them so obviously pipes! I mean, even the GW ork guns have that issue- it's like old Battletech ACs with their bore sizes half the length of the barrel itself.

nobody really wants Rug to blow up Berfa...i don't think. That piece got me wondering if i'll ever have the time to build something so ambitious...

Basically I'm thinking some snotlings encounter some Stonehenge style standing stones and knock them over.

I like the idea of the goblin version of the Easter island statues but I can't sculpt.

We'll see what I can get worked out.

@ Anvildude - I totally agree on the gun issues - one of the reasons (many) that work on Berfa stalled... When I get back to her, the gun barrel will be re built from scratch and may even become more of a mortar similar to the WW2 Thor

Back to round 13: Gobbo Easter Island heads - I want to see dem, dum dum...

Doesn't it need to be something from scratch, rather than just exploding an already finished piece?

If not, then you could just do some "damage" while modifying it, submit the pics, and then fix it up/rebuild it stronger, faster/etc.

Ooh boy Vik has called me out!

I was considering not using the easter island head because I don't know how to sculpt it.

Now that I've been called out I feel like I at least need to try!! I will try it but depending on how it works out, I don't guarantee that I will use it in my final piece.

I think that's fair enough. What do you think?

These comps are all about exactly that.

Try it, find out about it, you never know you might be brilliant at it.

We have every confidence in you, and if it doesn't work, you can always lay it down and cover it in flock and call it a ruin.

Goblin easter Island, very cool Idea, give it a shot, you could try making it from foam board, styrofoam, clay, ask around if you need help or advice, it's what we are hear for .

This competition is feeling distinctly Ork-y.

@OMN: so says one of the best scratch builders i've seen on Dakka...so i'll take that as a compliment. rushing a bit to get the experience in, and because i seem to have a habit of not finishing these contests...might redo it. might not. we'll see what it looks like filed/gaps filled/base painted.

Building with windows will probably be an electro-bordello, brickwork, with maybe some piping/cabling and some kind of hanging sign. The next building I'm thinking will be a bit more wareousey in feel - possibly breeze-lock type for the ground floor, metal sidings for the next....not 100% sure yet. Possibly a big fan type vent on the side. Maybe a flat rof for the warehouse, possibly a tiled roof for the brothel - but may not add the roof there. I'm currently thinking the dio should be viewed from this angle, so no work behind the building facade - but with an eye to adding some inerior details at a later date - after the comp, as I'm fairly sure if I start on that it'll never get done in time

Nope. You've started gluing things together. I'm still selecting things... although I have now started to chop things up. I may even have something to show soon...ish.

Very much liking the Easter Island statues idea. Love those things.
Remember that you don't have to sculpt the whole thing in one go. Build up a solid base, get a rough size and shape, then start adding the final details. I'd probably be tempted to do the ears separate and glue them on at the end.

Can't believe I did not comment on that AMAZING rokkit VIK, my most sincere apologies.

Looks brilliant, and you are way ahead of the curve on this one, paint on it already, still messing in design stage myself, well done. Loving the colours as well.

My only excuse is there are soooooooooo many brilliant ideas this time out, so different, each post is something new.

Talking of which, excellent start MT, love the three guys! Going to be magnificent when you are done.
