@AllSeeingSkink - GW never meant for 40k to be a game with free rules, so this won't ever happen (legally), I imagine -- sans subscription at some future date.

@Darkcloak - I too (much) prefer flipping through paper copies. There's something magical about holding and reading a physical book. I just love books.

It seems that Blood Angels got stuck being the Dark Angels of this edition, sadly.

Oh well, I'm sure they'll make lovely Red(Black) Templar. Or the Templars of Blood. Or some other fun name.

I am already in the process of removing the BA markings from my unpainted stuff and converting them into Crimson Fists. The stuff that can't be converted easily, such as Sanguinary Guard, BA Tacticals, or Death Company, have been moved to the back of the line in terms of painting. Looking at my red basecoated Predator Annihiliator and considering stripping it and turning it blue. Same with my Stormraven.

Sangunius on a bike. Now theres a picture.
Leaning over a 10 speed on le tour de frenchy, flapping his wings.
I know the Guard will say, but were elite too, but elite guard are still 3. Human heros should not be more than 4 of anything. But get a death strike blow. Die, roll a 6, i take you with me, if equipped with a appropriate weapon.
Its like people dont understand SM codex is inter changable just because GW has banged on for years about, yeah, nah.
Only gw models, wysiwyg, thats all not allowed.

And that's not the only entry that's gotten that treatment. And it's not the first time either - same thing happened the last time the SM codex was released too. They didn't listen at ALL.

This is where GW's weird aversion to "patching" their codexes with FAQs is hurting them. It prevents them from making major changes to marine factions without screwing a few of them for months at a time. All they would have to do to placate BA and SW players would be to release an addendum saying "your dreads have more attacks, your scouts have WS/BS4, your terminators are 5pts cheaper". But heaven forbid they spend ten minutes writing up a PDF that would improve the playing experience for their customers.

Knowing GW they probably think a BA FAQ would hurt SM codex sales.

honestly, we as a community can fix this. we shouldn't have to but we can. it should be GWs fix. but we could agree to play each other with corrected points. I wouldn't have an issue with BAs playing terminators 25 points cheaper or giving dreads 4 attacks.

we just need to stop being rules Nazi's and play for fun.

if youre a tournament kind of guy, dunno what to tell you. personally I don't find tournaments fun

Indeed. If you want to continue playing 40k you have to accept the rules are a mess and work together with your group to create your own house rules.

Creating a home grown BA FAQ isn't difficult - just update Dreads, Terminators, Scouts and Vanguard Vets to bring them inline.

Hopefully everyone plays in a relaxed enviroment. I'd hate to play in tournaments or at 'serious' clubs/shops.
I hasten to add that there's nothing at all wrong with Tournaments or serious play. Just that 40K isn't a system for that.

Of course. I was simply saying what I think "should" be the case, not some deluded dream that GW will actually ever do it They could summarise most of what is in the codices in to a document that's a few pages long for each army and have it available online and in pamphlets in the store. But they won't do that of course.

I also don't see them doing a subscription in any form that won't make players cringe. I'm picturing you subscribe to only get ONE codex worth of rules and after 2 years you've paid more than if you'd just bought the codex to make sure they don't lose out on any suckers who get in to the game and quit soon after. And I don't really see them updating rules in the interim like that anyway, they're not going to get rid of printed codices and I don't see them having a static printed codex and a dynamic online codex. The smarter thing would just be to have FAQ that don't completely suck hairy monkey balls

But yes... discussing what I think should be the case, not what I think GW will ever actually do

Funny that, I've painted my Librarian and Scouts as Mantis Warriors since the drop of the Codex.

Got some unassembled Death Company too...maybe I can find blank shoulder pads and get rid of the BA bitz. Failing that, they go to the bottom of the painting pile.

Do not worry!
All is not lost!
Flesh tearers can have an all dreadnought army!
(As the FoC makes you only need to take 1 troop choice I.E take cassor the damned as your troop choice and then just fill your HQ with Librarian dreadnoughts and your elites with DC/Furioso dreads, oh and make use of the 6 Fast attack slots by filling them with drop pods and sticking the dreads in them)
So....
Light at the end of the tunnel?

I feel your pain as an ork player. Waited quite a long time for the new book just find out my favorite character is gone. My favorite fluff story is not in the book. Then have to spend 6-8 months relearning how to play my army.

Not to rain on your rant, but you do have some pretty awesome formations and if i'm not mistaken there is one that allows you to assault first turn. The bad thing is your formations are spread across number of white dwarfs, campaign books, and your codex.

Armies:
The Iron Waagh: 10,000+ 8th Edition Tournament Record: 4-7-1
Salamanders: 5,000 8th Edition Tournament Record: 4-2
Ultramarines: 4,000
Armored Battle Company (DKoK): 4000
Elysians: 500
Khorne Daemons: 2500
