Nice! Anything special planned for Jain Zar?

Yorkright,

Nice work on the Banshee, the Aspect symbol looks great.

Transfer or free-hand? Either way it looks like it is part of the helmet (no silvering if it is a transfer).

Cheers,

CB

Right now I am not thinking of anything special with Jain Zar. Her base is pretty large and I have a few daemonettes laying around...
CB it is a transfer, back in the day I used to do them by hand, but my eyes aren’t as good as they used to be. There is a great tutorial on YouTube I found that went through the steps to make it look like it was painted on. Can’t remember name of it though.

Banshee 2 is looking like she is going to match number 1 very well. The bone and red with green accents really make those areas pop. Well done .

Great work on these Banshees. Nice color scheme, the transfer looks perfect and the base turned out well with the little pieces of vegetation and the grey providing a good contrast to the model.

Thanks guys, they are coming along 3 almost done now.
@Riddle thank you, I am still torn on the bases was thinking that the vegetation could possibly be a bit brighter. They are done up similar to my other eldar so I don’t want have a huge difference between them.

2 nights ago I was going through my old models and found a pink daemon prince I bought from someone but never got around to finishing it. Went a bit bonkers and decided to paint over it. Decided on painting him up using contrast, did not like how it looked. So put in about 3 hours of work and came up with this. My friend is going to start playing his CSM again so I am gifting this one to him. He is supposed to be done up in the Night Lords colors. What do you all think?

Looks pretty good! I think the membranes on the wing backs are a tad dark and could use another layer, but I like the muscles and the contrast with the hands and feet.

Your rescued Daemon Prince looks great, but I agree with vejut that the wings would look better being a bit lighter. The underside looks ok, but the top looks to have suffered from pooling. Maybe a bone colour drybrushing would help bring out the contours more?

More importantly, what’s going to happen with the 2nd Edition boxset Gretchin cowering next to him?

@Vejut and Gobert thanks for CC, I agree with you both and will give the wings a light dry brush. I was surprised how dark it came out using the contrast leather paint. Tried to brighten it up / hide it with a wash did not help. Will post later.

I think you could brighten it with a wash, but you'd need to use a brighter colored wash, and then sop off most of the paint into a paper towel or the like (possibly even your hand), and basically glaze just the raised ridges, trying not to let it actually act like a wash--its basically what I'm doing as I fumble my way towards proper blending. Drybrushing would admittedly probably be easier though.

Love the blue purple contrasting on that prince from he... eh the warp! Excited to see the updated wings.

Remember that the contrast paints are really just very thick washes. They'll glob on you and get really dark given the chance.

Ok, here are the redone wings. Covered up the wings with deathclaw brown then a wash of seraphim sepia.
@Gitz yes I have a love hate relationship with the contrast paints. Perhaps I am a bit heavy handed when applying them. I have seen some amazing work but have not been able to get the hang of it yet. Need more practice.

An improvement, for sure. If you are not against a touch more work, it could turn out really nice if you get a few streaks of an even lighter shade on the highest points.

@youwashock took your advice and put a few streaks on the wings. Not sure if it shows up in the picture as I just did a few. Going to call him done and get back to the Banshees.
Thanks again for looking and the input.

Yeah, I think a bit more variety like youwashock suggests would work well. Perhaps a more golden/yellowy shade of brown to contrast the blue? Or leave them as is, which is a marked improvement!

I think those streaks helped out. Not too noticeable, but adds depth to the wings. Great little side project going back into the drawer.

Banshees came out ace; white (for me, at least) is a tough colour to work with. You managed it very well.

Thanks Meer-cat, white is not my favorite to work with either. Starting with good base then working it up helps.

@Theo it was a fun project hope my buddy enjoys it.

@Gobert leaving as is.

Thanks again all for the nice comments keeps me motivated to keep the paint flowing.
I have seen a lot folks have posted on what they got done for the year so decided to go through my blog and add them up. I only counted models that I built or were given to me built and primed. Did not count the all the Ultramarines as many were finished and I just brought up the highlights and details.
Black Legion. 72
Death Guard. 13
Ultramarines. 12
Khorne & DP. 17
Genestealers. 7
SW & Imperial. 2
Dark Angels. 3
Total————126

Hard to believe I got that much done last year.

Awesome count. Good year indeed. I think repaints count. They take time away as well.

Green with the bone color is striking. Job well done.
