I like the patterns on Red Ronin's trousers. Just that little touch brings the model to life.

Cloud came from Spain. I'll have to dig him back out as I put him away while I Kondo' ed my shelves. I know I have a video of him on Youtube showing how tall he is if you can't wait for me to hunt him down.

He came from Spain. I have my suspicions who produced him. He was purchased on eBay though.

I was about to sell this guy and a host of other half- finished Khorne models off on eBay, when I suddenly had the urge to finish him.
Mind you, this guy as of last Friday was still on a square base as he was purchased before Age of Sigmar had even started! I finished him up and am in the rpocess of wrapping up the last two remaining Wrathmongers.

They're still one of my favorite Khorne kits. So many versatile bits in that box, and then doubled because of the whole dual model build available!

A Raven Warrior from Blood Rage. Didn't realize those aren't the proper clan colors. Whoops. Not a big deal.

Two up and coming figures- another guy from The Other Side along with one of the Greater Possessed from Shadowspear. He's going to get a lot of those highlights seriously cleaned up, as he's obviously not done yet. I like where he's headed though!

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Haven't gotten around to photographing much as I've been in the process of shuffling filming stuff to a quieter part of the house. Sadly it isn't as well lit as the other parts, but it's getting there.

Got two more Wrathmongers done. Oddly enough I seem to be missing two models. I'm guessing they ended up as Skull Reapers? I know I have a lot of finished Skull Reapers.

These two were also from when the box first released and they included square bases. The guy with the horned skull helm proved particularly difficult in coming off of his original base. He just didn't want to budge! I finally ended up carving chunks of base off around him and eventually sawing away what was left of his original base. It was a frustrating mess!

Funny enough, I want to buy another box of these guys. I just cobbled together another five man unit based on all the remaining bits I had too!

I really should pick up some Skullcrusher bits for modding these guys even further. Maybe some Chaos Marines while I'm at it. None of these Khorne guys have repeats yet and I'd like to keep it that way!

Also got this model pretty much finished. This is the White Speaker from the Kingdom Death sub- line of "Death High." Spending a significant amount of time in Japan over the years has given me a soft spot for the school uniforms. I'm not super satisfied with the face though. I'll mull over what I can do with it. The rest is decent. I'm not looking to win any awards here.

This model is interesting in it's what Poots called "photoresin." It's basically resin that's gone through the 3d printing process if I understood everything correctly when they first unveiled these. The detail is pretty crisp and doesn't seem to have the scan lines you see on quick and dirty printing projects. There were a few nubs that needed to be cut off but other than that it didn't need a lot of cleanup.

The material seem to hold together fairly well also. It doesn't feel as brittle as resin can and I never felt worried something would snap off if I looked at it wrong. My daughter accidentally swatted her off the table and sent her flying across the room, and even then it was a pretty clean break on the sword arm- looking at it closely you can't really even tell where it broke!

I had to pin her to the base though. It was the only way she would stay on it.

Got a bunch of Bloodletters finished this weekend, and started in on these dudes a bit more earnestly.

Blackstone Chaos Lord is coming along decently. Need to do a better job highlighting- you literally can't see it after I started washing him with the Agrax!
I used the same turquoise on him that I did the Blackstone Chaos Marines and the results were absolutely abysmal.

Time to find a better highlighting choice...

Skulltaker is a model I'm quite happy to spend time working on. I've got his based pretty much finished- did all the lava and rocks, now it's time to work on his armor. I put the base colors so now it's time to make it look decent. Still need to touch up all the chords on his cloak that tie the skulls on it.

I also started working for reals this time on the GSC neophytes. Hopefully I can get a chunk of them done soon. Now to hopefully make them look different enough from the Orlock guys I just started getting around to painting...

Took a step away from my 40k kick to finish up some steampunk stuff.

Front guy who looks like Sam Elliot is one of the newer Shadows of Brimstone sculpts. He's a resin replacement for one of the special allies, but he actually makes a good stand- in for a lot of the lawmen models. He was a single piece as well and pretty nicely cast, especially compared to their early resin results. Grandma with the blowtorch and the portly scholar with interesting device on his arm are both The Other Side models. The rapscallion hanging out in the back is an older Malifaux plastic model.

Back to 40k though!

Janus Draik from the Blackstone Fortress game is just about done. I need to do some highlights on his boots and shoelaces. Otherwise I'm calling him as good enough to play. I believe that's 4 painted heroes now, which is enough to actually get started playing then!

Time to get back to the bad guys...

Speaking of bad guys, I went ahead and got the Kelermorph just about finished. I painted him while I was painting the neophytes from the Kill Team box along with a few hybrids so they all should match cohesively as a team. The rest of them should be finished this upcoming week.

Those leg guards make me think of cricket gear every time I see him.

I feel like I should get some jackals and a goliath for them to roll around in now...

Also got Obsidius in the back there done along with this other Greater Possessed. I need to clean up some of the lines on him though.

Next on the finishing list is Dejah Thoris and the rest of the stealer cult!

The bulk of my Neophytes from the Kill Team box are getting wrapped up.

For whatever reason a large portion of them seem to want to play with shotguns.

Finally decided on a simple enough pattern to get them painted.

Guys with fancier, more exotic weaponry.

Some work in progress shots of the heavy support guys.

I have my hybrids coming along soon and I hope to start the abomination mutants as well. I'm worried that before I know it I'll have jackals and goliaths running along side them...

That blue is the carapace armor. The bigger guys are have more pronounced mutations and extra limbs. My hybrid metamorphs I'm working on make it more obvious, to the point that I've often confused myself as to which kit they all came from.

I forget how stealer hybrid generations work. Is it the earlier the gen, the more primitive they are, until by the 4th or 5th gen they're basically able to pass for human?

Nice neophytes. I especially like the yellow shotgun, for some reason.

It goes;

Purestrain -> superfreaky acolyte hybrids -> freaky acolyte hybrids -> slightly freaky neophyte hybrids -> non-freaky neophyte hybrids (except for some serious alopaecia) -> purestrain.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

Two more Blackstone Fortress heroes done!

All that remains are the preacher guy with the servo skull cannon and the rat twins. We'll see when I get around to them...

Two other random figures finished- the male sumo from Forbidden Fortress and Modiphius' Dejah Thoris resin.

I feel like I could've done better on both of them. The sumo's hakama/ mawashi thing was really boring in a plain color so I made some pattern all over it. I'm not sure if they're flowers or butterflies. Maybe they're both.

Dejah Thoris is alright. I'm not a fan of her head at all. It's not bad in any technical sense. Something about her head design just isn't appealing. I do like that her clothing seems somewhat appropriate for her stature and the small amount that people of Barsoom tend to wear. It's not a cheesecake as some of the other interpretations out there, that's for sure.

At least my core set of John Carter figures are finished now!

I'm not sure why Dakka keeps resizing all my photos into something super gigantic, but it's time for some Kingdom Death ladies.

Here's the new Swashbuckler. She's one of the new plastic generic class models. I haven't seen any painted versions of her yet. Is mine the first? Weird. At least it'll serve as a testament to those who need some inspiration and how to paint her better. Plus her boots look kinda lame. Should fix those up too.

I see the skin turned out kinda lumpy and blah. I really need to go back and touch that up now. Otherwise I'm content with a ready for tabletop paint job. I feel like I need to work on her base more, and I don't really know where to go with it.

The Messenger of the First Story is finally done, despite receiving her with the base game many years ago. I'm happy with most of it except her eyes and the stone face on her base. I should probably do some drybrushing on that face.

Also the new Loonboss. He isn't a whole lot of exciting paint apps but I finally got him done. Now to start that Loon King.

I don't know why Dakka is making my photos super gigantic.

The better to see all their sloppy errors perhaps? Ehhhhh....

Speaking of sloppy errors, let's look at things that are just about finished, but not quite, and are in need of some serious touch- ups!

I am impatiently waiting for my Easter Kingdom Death stuff, and rather than start a new project I finished one from some time ago. I nearly tossed her in the trash a few times I was so unhappy with how this figure was going.

I stuck it out and she's about 90% there. I need to do some clean up and touch up in certain areas but I'm at the point where she's almost tabletop worthy. I ruined her face though when I primed her, and the paint job she has isn't helping a whole lot. She'd languished in a box for a good few months since she was released, so at least that's progress happening!

Abaddon is coming along as well. He's also about 90% of the way there. A few more things I want to do and certainly needs a bit of cleaning and straightening up. Getting there though.

One of the Lost Valley dinosaur people from Bones 4. Base colors are done. Seriously needs some highlights though. Feels too dark.

The other two are 15mm guys from Battle Valor. They should be done before the weekend.

A Dark Age figure. This is the limited edition version of Saint Johan. Or is it Quietus? Both names perhaps? I know I have the Skarrd books that have him in there. Time to actually read them. I need to finish up a few more details on him as well.

I'm thinking after they are done it's time for a return to lizards and perhaps some minotaurs. Maybe more Kingdom Death. I should probably paint some of those big Creature Caster models as well...

Haven't posted here in a bit due to my work computer (where I usually post photos) being really weird about loading Dakka and spending most of my free time dorking around with Youtube.
It's bugging me that my photos are getting super blown up and making everything look much sloppier than they appear in person. Blech.

Here's a few things I've been working on that I don't think I've put anywhere else yet.

This guy was 99% finished the weekend he came out... and then he sat in front of me for the last few weeks waiting to get finished up. I did paint his eyes- it's just hard to see.

The Death High Twilight Knight. I have really enjoyed this line of models so far. I would like to see more gentleman in the line though, as there's only one to the six or seven ladies released so far.
I should have a few more finished pretty soon.

An old metal Oldblood lizardman, just to highlord it up a bit and get back in the swing of things as the Lost Kingdom and Last Sword lizards start to slowly get ready to arrive. Definitely need to clean up some of those colors on him though.

An old Dark Age model I got in a lot. I can't tell who she is, which is sad since I've got most of the CMON books and you would think she'd be in there in some shape or form. Maybe the resculpt is substantially different? She's really stiff. Not as bad as the cocky old Warwind, but still pretty stiff.

The priest guy from Blackstone Fortress. He's almost done. Needs work on the servoskull for sure and a lot of cleanup on the highlights that I did a poor job on. Need to fix his book too. He's got a Shieldwolf Sister hanging out with him from BobtheInquisitor. The SF ones are starting to grow on me a bit after painting them.

Speaking of Shieldwolf sisters, I've made some progress with the rest of the crew I got. Slowly but surely they'll be done. The plan was to try and play Fear & Faith from Ganesha Games this weekend with Barzam. Hopefully I can finish these Sisters up and they can fight his Sins from The Others.

Still irritates me how Dakka is messing with my photos.

Finished up my Grimskull Emperor Sisters. They all look the save, except for this girl here with no helmet. Also got the Bloodmaster finished finally.

A Dwarven monk from Durgin Paint Forge. I like this guy. Tried to give him a bit of an Akuma style.

My Spanish Street Fighters. These were from the same eBay store as my Cloud Strife model. Not a fan of Ken's flames but they're serviceable.

Two 15mm models that looked a lot better when I was attempting to take the photo than how they now appear. Frustrating. I do like that lizardman though. He's a "Scalian" from Battle Valor games. The power armor is a Khurasan model.

Two different takes on Lust Demons from two different companies. The left with all the hands is a Raging Heroes "Death Dancer" while the right is a Matriarch of Ecstasy from Creature Caster. I'm liking the Creature Caster model a bit more. I need to give her another set of hooks and blades to hang from one of her right scythe arms still.

Both are in need of a bit more work though.

Burtz the Ghost Caller from Titan- Forge miniatures. He's a big orc. Even bigger with the flag and the ghosts. I feel like I should paint a logo of some sort on that flag. Also need to fix his actual skin in some spots.

Oooo, you got (at least one of) the Matriarchs I had intended to buy the set when it launched, but didn't really want the slaves and knew I wouldn't be working on them for a lot of months, too many KOW armies to slog through this summer. SO extra great to see one painted! She's also a lot taller than I expected! And/or the Dancer is shorter (I have all of them as well, but barely have the patience to build good resin, let alone RH resin).

Cool on the Khurasan power armor as well, I was recently looking at that line, or at least the less-teched out versions (which remind me a bit of Chaos Marines).

Those low tech guys are quite good bases for making Chaos forces, I agree! A little bit of green stuff and they'd be good to go!

I have all the Matriarchs, she's just the first one I actually painted. Scratch that- I'm missing the bard figure sitting on a serpent that I think was a convention exclusive. I'll need to hunt her down.

Creature Caster's said these Matriarchs are basically their equivalent of the GW Heralds and they're all on 40mm bases too. They'll be making troops more in line with human- sized models. When that happens, I don't know.

The Death Dancer's are pretty much human size (and on 25mm bases).

The grimskull sister looks ace. And I like the painting on the dwarf, but for some reason he reminds me of Little Critter.

Gonna say traditional, given the lack of goop everywhere, but I could be totally wrong, since he's at such a huge scale. Either way, sweet to see one of these lads in the wild and with paint! Much larger than I thought, although this does confirm that I would rather him without wings, those are pretty tiny for his size, at least to my eye.

Traditional paint- local shop doesn't have any left. The contrast on my phone's camera makes the legs all look the same shade which they don't really.

Those wings are pretty big too. I have my doubts they'd actually be able to support his weight but they're still quite large- the depth of them doesn't show well in photo.

I always like how Creature Caster's really big models make sure to have enough clearance space around the base for all the little models to be able to swarm around it.

He's probably one of the largest tabletop models I've attempted to paint. The angle makes the marine look a bit larger in comparison to the Drakon than it actually is.

It's getting me geared up to take on painting a few more of their models along with my Archaon and KD Dragon King that have sat unpainted on shelves for years now!
