Not that I have seen. I was thinking about the stock GW ones...

I think gaslights shouldn't be too hard. A simple cilinder, some plasticard or cardboard for the housing, a pole... I'll fiddle a bit and see what i can come up with. If i can build one from scratch... i'm sure you can too...

It shouldn't be too hard to scratch Vik..look up pics (like you are already) Then break it down into basic shapes, then figure out how to easily mass-produce those shapes with materials you have - We are here to help you if you get stuck on some part of it, or need ideas or suggestions.

The GW lamps are cool, but are a bit over-embellished IMHO.

well i am now looking into basic shapes... angulated or the simpler methde of making a ball into a street light? i will try to do that soon too...

and for now at least i won´t be able to get my hands on the GW ones...

by the way... i have looked at terragenesis atm too but there search function seldom yield any results... which is a shame tho...

If you mean gas lanterns I have seen someone scratch building them some where before, but for the life of me I cant remember where at the moment.

that would be just plain awesome if you do that mate! i think gaslights will be such a big thing to bring the board to life!

Totally plus I want t o build some myself, kill 2 birds with one stone so to speak.

I wish I could remember where I saw the tutorial know, from what I can remember it was a case of separate glazed sections (clear plastic) in triangle shapes.

Then thin plasticard strips to join them together and PC to create the top metal section, that was the basics to it if that helps any.

well...that would be a four sided version... with that i think one could come up rather "easily"... tho it would freak me out to work with clear plastic... never did that and my painting is currently too blotchy to do it right^^...

the top could be really easy comperativly speaking as it is mostly just layer after layer...the post would also quite challenging tho if i could find a piece of wood with already the fitting texture this could help...hmmmm

Yes, those books are some of the best for inspiration and ideas, plus the how to's are brilliant.

The one I am thinking of is by a guy who does museum historical models, that bloke is amazing and what he uses is crazy.

If you want to buy them rather than make them (shhh don't tell Dave ) I know an ebayer that sells them rather cheap, only snag is he is China so there is a wait

naw... i have thought about that too but i would rather feel better if i am able to do it on my own... tho i think bought ones would probably look better^^...

yeah..but then you have the problem of gluing the clear plastic, you need to scuff it, use PVA, and clamp it...and wait...and wait..

hmmm.... i think i will try some versions of everything and see what works the best... maybe even without clear sheats and just leave a gap...wouldn´t be sturdy at all but easier i think...

Here's a thought. Make a basic mold, and use clear resin to fill it. Shouldn't be too difficult to make a box-shaped mold that's smaller on the bottom, just press something of the right size and shape into some play-dough or whatever, and pour in either PVA glue or clear resin. Solid piece, you can suspend a 'flame' inside with a little dye (or even use an LED), then just put the 'fins' on via paint or plasticard.

I could do that with the instant mold bars I got from Anvil Industries!

Thats not a bad idea that, clear resin for the whole body, that way you could cast it all in clear resin then just paint the detail areas.

BRILLIANT !!!!! I would try that Vik if you can get the resin and moulding material of course

Even easier would be to do the whole thing out of plasticard and just paint a simple OSL effect instead of having clear panels.

Not really, the main hurdle with it is getting down the difference between the glow and the source. Then how it bleeds.

Lamps are the easiest and it'll look like it just has frosted glass.
