Plans for concrete in Fantasy? lol NO, I'm not planning square bases as concrete in fantasy land is blasphemy.

Beautiful bases. Think you could throw together a tutorial video showing various base creation methods? Lava field, concrete, tile, 'ruins', and what not?

Bonus result - The ones you make in the video can be resin cast then sold as well! Lol

I have to say that I have been following you on Youtube for a while now and your tutorials there taught me some techniques that got my painting up a few levels of decency. I've replicated the washes that you gave us and have explored with some of my own with decent results as well. Now that I have signed up for Dakka Dakka I was happy to see that you have a painting blog here of what you have done as well. Awesome! I still need to go through pages 2-30 but It is great seeing some of the stuff that didn't make it into your youtube vids.

I also have to say, thank you for the great suggestion on the webcam. I've even done a painting vid in your style that has come out pretty well.

Thank you for all the great stuff you have taught me and all the stuff I will learn in the future. One of these days I need to pull the airbrush out of my closet and start using it.

Thanks for the comments guys!

Just another update on the base line.

Every theme I make has to be complete. That means bases for the whole 40k army. From 25mm to Valkyrie bases. I have only seen a couple companies do this with certain themes and slack on the rest. I will NOT compromise quality or variety.

And after testing the prices will be pretty low. From 25mm bases being $.50 each to Valkyrie Bases being about $10.

I just finished the masters for the bike bases, and plan to make 5 more for variety as I run 10 bikes in my army.

Here's the pics!

Is that what real bike bases actually look like? (Without the awesome scenery of course). Because in all the pictures I have seen the base is photoshopped out.

EDIT: Almost forgot to comment! These bases are lookin' sweet so far Les, can't wait for more updates!

Photoshopped out? These are pictures of the actual bases after I airbrushed them, applied my Cinder Block Pigment and took a picture. The only thing done in photoshop is the black areas, lettering and a quick auto level and color balance.

Sorry, what I said was confusing. I meant the actual GW bases. Are they the same shape as your's? (Without the cool details)

Nicely done Lbursley. I really like these, and if I was into resin bases I´d consider yours.

@DarkAngelsRK: Yes, those are the same shape as GW´s.

More base themes in progress.

Hopefully you guys are starting to see the friendly design in these. You actually have a place to put your mini. Seems as though base makers forget that the mini's are modeled to stand on the stock bases which are..... you guessed it... FLAT.

These should release in all sizes following the release of Concrete Massacre

Nice job, LBursley! Those 'sandman' bases are almost exactly the same as what I do for my Tau army. One less step I have to do in the future...

Lol. Yeah I plan on variety. The concrete massacre bases are set up in my standard and what I would want for my army.

Concrete Massacre
25mm- 10 designs
40mm- 10 designs
60mm- 5 designs
the flying bases will have 8-10 different designs
Valkyrie bases will have 4 designs.

I plan this scheme for all themes that come out.

You know what I would like to see? A well done Tech theme base that DOSENT have all the extra tubes and carp on it. I have been searching for days for good tech bases but none of them are usable because I want/need to make a display tray for them and trying to match pre-cast bases with a custom display look nigh imposible. Okay Yes I can make my own, I was just hoping to save myself a step.

WOW sorry I just went off on a total rant!

Great work btw, your bases are very nice and your tutorials are excelent.

Question about air brushing...

I have an Iwata Custom Micron Plus and my paints dry as I spray super fine lines. I have removed the protective crowns aroudn the needle to help with the restictions around the needle. I just keep a qtip with alcohol near by and clean as I go.

Do you have this issue too? Is there a way you mitigate this? Thanks.

Im using the Vallejos iarbrush paints.

Nice airbrush!

I use the VMA paints too and right out of the bottle @ 18- 20 psi. Every 2 minutes or so I have to clean the needle with a brush. It's gonna happen with water acrylics. Nothing you can do about it. I did notice that when I mixed a couple drops of Windex into the paint I could paint a bit longer without cleaning the needle.

He's 80% finished but him and other special characters I paint up will be for sale on the online store averaging $30-45.

Cato will be up for $40 when finished.

Here's the progress so far.

Those 'bricklayer' bases are nice - closer to the 'urban ruin' style that I favor for my armies...

Cato is very cool, but the paint looks a tad gloppy and uneven in a few tiny places. Still much better than I could dream of doing, though.
