That tervigon is so damn sexy... too bad I have 3x chapterhouse ones and cant justify dumping coin to buy 3x models that look somewhat similar.... HOWEVER I will most defiantly be buying at least 2x Tyrannofexes

Love the swarmlord / tyrant kit. Will likely buy 2x tyrants to make a swarmlord / flyrant then dig the magnets out of my current hive tyrant to make him a standard tyrant.

Total models without Finecast issues out of those purchased: 0

We waited all of this time for this gak! I am not a fan of the Chapterhouse Tervigon, but GWs is terrible. Its hindquarters are totally emaciated. It reminds me of Mantics slim figs. The tail is also much too plain. In fact the entire model looks like an old sculpt, akin to the level of detail on the Carnifex model.

The Tyrannofex is also malnourished. It just does not have the bulk and size that is indicated by the illustration in the codex. It also looks like GW opted to put the rupture cannon in the fex's hand, and not in its mouth.

Have you seen the Heirophant? They look like smaller versions of it, which are perfect, I think.

And where are you getting the Rupture Cannon being in the creature's mouth? It is formed out of its front-two limbs in the artwork.

The front limbs are attached to it, but the cannon itself looks like it is centered on the t-fex and is actually its lower jaw.

Oh thank god I didn't try to kit-bash the tervigon. I love the look even if it does look like it could do with a all-pie diet.

The flyrant is exactly how I pictured it.

I'm happily going to be picking up at least two Tervigons, probably one tyrant box since it's plastic now, and at least one order of boneswords for warriors once I see the look. This is the perfect time because I just started repainting my Nids to a standard that wasn't embarassing to show up to tournies with so these will slot in nicely

Ouch... I think my wallet just had an aneurysm...

Definitely excited for both sets of models, as I play both armies. I have a couple hive tyrants already, but will probably look into the Flying Tyrant kit all the same.

Whoa, don't check for one day and all of a sudden the thread explodes with activity!

As for the models, here's my personal breakdown:
Tervigon: Looks pretty cool, and I actually like the arched back, it makes the Hierophant look less out of place.
Tyrannofex: Again, another cool looking model (cooler than the Tervigon imho), but offsetting the gun looks a bit silly. And it looks like I'm going to need to convert my Tyrannofex back into a Carnifex now...
Hive Tyrant: No real differences in the base version, although the ability to take dual boneswords is nice. The winged one looks awesome, I don't mind the scything legs either. And Swarmlord's swords are a little small, but I don't mind so much. The model still looks really cool overall.

And since Space Wolves are my main army:
TWC Wolf Lord: Definitely looks better than Canis, hard to tell how good the model looks from the pics though. I like it, but I don't think I'll buy it.
TWC: I think they look very cool actually, and just when I was thinking "I need more TWC".
Fenrisian Wolves: Awesome! I already have 7 old-school Wolves, but these will definitely be being added to my army soon. I love that they actually look like Wolves and not High Elf Lions!
Arjac: Eh, nothing special, but I'm certain that I'll buy him since I have all the other Space Wolves special characters already.

My wallet's about to take a severe beating though... ideally, I'd wanna get 2-3 Tervigons, 1-2 Tyrannofexes, 1 Swarmlord, 1 Winged Tyrant (which I don't know if I'll even use that much... it just looks so damn cool), a box of Fenrisian Wolves, Arjac and a box of Thunderwolf Calvary.

Oo, these are almost enticing me to start Nids! I'm pretty sure that the people who don't like these would appreciate them better were the Codex art more similar, though.

Ill buy a Tyranofex kit, but again, I have 3 Tervigons-Chapterhouse kits, 2+ years later is a kick in the balls. HOLY COW-$70.00 US?!

Still does not make the Tyranofex a good buy point-wise (he'll sit on my shelf with my Hierophant/Hierodule etc).

Guess this puts all those conspiracy rumors to rest that Chapterhouse forced GW to hold back releases.

I like the flyrant, but will stick with my 3rd edition one, and the bonesword/lashwhip prices are crazy, even if it wasnt "Finecast" - yuck.

That's 70 canadian. Its 57.75US, the same price as a Trygon. And considering your 'tervigon' costs 75+....

I for one am glad my tervigons were some mild conversions of two carnifexes I couldn't use anymore (gunfexes) and waited for the real thing. Head and shoulders better then any conversion or garage kit out there and quite a bit cheaper to boot.

I was stoked about the warrior weapons but the price is galling. 20 for 3 sets? Those aren't models, not extra bits, just 6 swords and arms? Insane.

I have two magnetized metal tyrants already but the extra plastic bits will be a godsend. The plastic bodies will become harpies (extra carnifex head swapped for the tyrant head, walla -- instant harpy)

Dude GODDAMMIT. Gw is going to be taking SO MUCH OF MY MONEY this year. Tyranids, Thunderwolves, Necrons, Dark Eldar....and the DARK ANGELS!!!

Goodbye my precious precious $$$

Great job on the Tervis/Tyrannos and new Tyrnat kit, so much value (hopefully for your money) in those kits. TWCs are looking good to me too, I might still pick up some 3rd party ones though.

It's been long enough, but thanks for coming through GW.

THE FUN HAS BEEN DOUBLED!!!

I didn't think I'd like the Codex-art arched backs, but as soon as someone pointed out the similarities to the Heirophant, I think I love them now.

I guess, after all this time, GW actually produced great Tyranid models.

It's a relief that the plastic Tyrant looks incredibly similar to the metal Tyrant to the point that the metal ones won't look out-of-place and obsolete.

Anyways...

What I'm interested in is seeing how a normal Hive Tyrant will look with the leaping stance. Basically putting the leaping/scything legs, tail base with dual bonesword/deathspitter tyrant ala leaping velociraptor.

I guess a price change is in order then

The good thing is that there is little change GW will kill off the Tervigon and Tyranofex units in the next codex as the plastic kit setup is a huge investment.

Hey so the pic here

What is that? It like a tyrannofex but has arms instead of a weapon. The arms may have something weapon-like but doesn't look like any of the main weapons of a t-fex. Below, it says in italian to the effect of 'turn to page 39 to learn everything about the weapon of this model'

Is this the WD tyranid unit that was rumored?

After a few duff months (Cygor/Ghorgon, Coven Throne/Mortis Engine and some bizzare LoTR releases), I'm calling this a return to form in terms of sculpting. Even the Thunder Wolves aren't that bad considering the concept.

Well done GW sculpting department

Looks like the main picture is the Fleshborer Hive... one of the weapon options for the Tyrannofex... it has Assault 20. To me that picture looks like the wall of spore launchers so I think it makes sense. The small picture above it is probably the Acid Spray, with the Rupture cannon being the huge gun.

I'm not seeing anything different about the Tyrant on foot at the bottom of that page. Looks exactly like the current model. Perhaps the kit is just for the Flying Tyrant/Swarmlord?

First personal comment:

Good to have official models for these important units. Makes them playable to the wider public.
Hive Tyrant looks almost identical to the previous model, I hoped for more changes. The Flyrant looks good though.

I don't like the look of the Biotitan with its ridiculously thin legs and body. So I don't like the arched body of tervi/Tyrannofex either.
Good that they dropped the crotch gun as seen on the Tyrannofex art. Having such a huge body and then only holding a gun is a bit of a let down for me. I would have preferred a bigger gun carried on the back. Good thing I finished an alternative model with exactly that just in time. Need more perspectives though for a final judgment. Maybe I will make a conversion with the gun moved to the back.

The tervigon, despite its arched back, looks better. Although I own 2 non-GW versions I like better (and one I like less), I will buy one, because I like variety.

Actually, I like the third monster from that box best, the non-Codex Tyranid with the WD rules, something like the Tyrannofex with close combat weapons:

Look at the bonesword.

It's similar but in plastic mainly.

That is the main difference. That sword. Until we all get a magazine to pore over.

Still seems weird they'd change it to plastic but keep the sculpt the same. The picture is a bit blurry too so that may account for it. I'm liking the Swarmlord's head though... might use it instead of the normal Tyrant's head.

There's already clear pics of the rupture cannon and acid spray. It is probably the fleshborer hive, but I expected it to look more like a giant fleshborer (like the pic in the codex looks like a fleshborer hive to me) and not some limbs with ports on the shins/forearms. With the note below the pic I thought perhaps they stated something new for the t-fex or added a new t-fex like unit. Wishful thinking I know.
