having had a zoomed look at at your mini ahian i saw a minor flaw... the cable/hose that leads to the gun... i think you could do some more contrasting... what you have to figure out yourself... i think it should be not grey there...

yeah, that was an oversight on my part tbh... It was meant to be the same colour as the joints... so when it comes to doing the unit I'll correct it.

I like that scheme- maybe some yellow edge highlighting to make it pop..But now, can you do that same thing for the whole army??

Those camouflaged critters are going to look great. I like the green-grey-purple scheme. I agree with D that some yellow might liven the carapace, but i think you should only do that on the edges of the bigger ones where there's more to work with.

Yeah I agree with both of you (Dave & Spartan), will do the yellow extreme on the big bugs, plus they are more dangerous, so I'd expect bolder colours on them.
I like my camouflage to be logical lols...
Oh btw, that grey everyone mentions is Castellan Green (camo green) highlighted with Bleached bone (now ushabti bone).

Bleached bone, ustabbi..(why did they have to take a perfectly good, sensible name and stupidize it?) bonewhite in Vallejo, and Panzer Interior Buff in Testors 
They are all the exact same color, just diff names and manufacturer's..I use it on every single model I paint.

Yup, trying to get used to these new names sucks... I still call them their old ones tbh.

The best way to get around it if you use an slr, is have an external flash with a light dampening cloth over it. also, I didn't use flash in that photo, its all manual settings as I hate to use full auto.

well i am by no means a sophisticated photographer... but it sounds as if you know more than me^^
and my cam is not a SLR... it´s called a bride camera... something inbetween a standard digica and a SLR... not too shabby but i bet already quite outdated...

you should have a manual setting on it then tbh, and if you fiddle with it you should be able to adjust it so you won't need flash.
Well as I've said before I'm an artist, my speciality is Illustration, with a close second being photography. So I try to learn things as best I can... tbh half the time I bodge my way into getting gold  tis the only way really...

well my cam was only around 300€s and i think it is more meant to be used for the standard vacational picture taking... tho it does have a makro setting but not much adjusting is possible... tho i might have to look into that again to make sure...
and the more you get into an area of knowledge it really transforms your point of view on the subject and your standards and your sense for quality...

Got four Gaunts under-chitin done tonight. will endeavour to get the other fives done tomorrow along with the "fleshbits" done with the Xerus purple too. (why can't they just call it warlock purple, as its always been, and bring back tentacle pink damnit!)

Thanks Big, I wanted something that bordered on natural camouflage due to the background story (which I hope to re write some time).

My allergies are playing up, which is causing my right eye to go all gaky, so paintings on hold until I can see again. But, in the mean time, I'm sculpting up a base for Heirodule No.1 with craters and pock marks.
