So that is essentially 6 sprues out of 11 that can be reused. Not bad. Most of the arm mechanics can also be reused, he'd only have to make sure the scythe fits into the spot vacated by the shield and sword bits.

Is that kit going to come out with fewer sprues, though? If so, will it be priced differently on the market?

I count 7 that can be used as is. I'd bet on one of the Vulkan cannon sprues being replaced by the claw, the sword arm being replaced by the scythe, and either space needs to be found for the feet and instep armor, or a small sprue for those. So that'd count up to 9, possibly 9 with a half sized foot sprue, making 9 1/2.

Just guesswork, of course, since I have no way of knowing just how much sprue space the claw and scythe need.

I think it's a bit late for me to pull my pledge on this one! Actually, if there was a Pledge Manager opened for this, I'd be adding a pile of loot from Wave 3!
...I just won't be expecting it before Christmas.

Same here, I'd be adding 3 APCs and 60 Valkir, to hell with the wait.

I'd be adding more APCs...

The wait is fine, I have 20 troopers, 6 heavy weapon teams and 1 crusader left to build...

I have to admit, I'm still chomping at the bit for the Shadokesh.

Kickstart them already!

...Okay, I'm better now.

Nooo, much better to deliver here first, as he's doing. And I agree, as long as I get my wave 3 in 2013 I'll be happy. Roll on, APC and black widows! Counts-as sisters allies, here I come

Please no! Let Mark finish this one and then based on showing he can deliver everything, the Shadokesh KS will go MUCH better. I'd hate to hear it plagued with the constant "he didn't deliver everything from the first" that would come up.

Also, he's simply going to be swamped with getting all this stuff done first, and then it'll take him some time to design a bunch of shadokesh concepts/models/whatever - there's no point whatsoever starting the Shadokesh KS until some time after this one wraps up.

And possibly until after we have an actual IRON CORE game to use them in too!

Funny, I thought those two were to go hand in hand?

Sure, why not?

But I'd be happier if I had some rules a bit sooner than later, especially if they came out pre-Kickstarter #2.

Rule development could be parallel with preparing the second KS, and one of the stretches could be that nice hardback book.

Sorry no dreamforge update here, just wanted to show off a product that was sent to me from the guys at poweredplay.net. They are running a kickstarter now, only 6 days left, for light kits for model kits. The kickstarter doesn't look like it will make it, but they are proceeding with the product and getting it to market anyway. Each kit comes with a circuit board and a battery connector for a 9 volt battery, along with options for up to four strands of l.e.d. Lights to be one tend to the one switch. Originally I was disappointed because the 9volt didn't fit the hollow center of the leviathan, and I posted pics just to let others know in the kickstarter forums. The guys at poweredplay.net sent me. Prototype 9volt battery that they developed to work with the system and they ill be releasing later.

I am not part of the company, I'm just a modeler who has up ported mark in the kickstarters, and was looking for something to take my leviathan to the next level. Hope you'll check them out for yourselves.

Thanks,
Theophony.

Rest of his is copied from my p&m blog.

Well, I wasn't expecting this today, although they emailed me to let me know they were sending it last week.

Supply drop. Some of my newfound love. Lights for my models. In this case a prototype 9 volt. Yes PROTOTYPE! I know they are putting them into production but I got it now . This is for the poweredplay.net kits that I got last week. They were sad to see the battery did not fit into my crusader, so they sent this smaller battery pack to see if this would work.

New 9volt size.

Into the leviathan it goes. Quick mockup, no holes drilled. Just have to figure where to put the other two strands I have, I have white, and red, also think I might have a purple strand. The smokestacks have orange in each one, if only they flickered.

I like these kits a lot, hoping for big things from these guys.

I've formalized my queue of armies to be built/painted (it's a long list), and thought enough of the quality of my Eisenkern that they get spot #2, right after I finish up all of my Tau.

I'm also shifting away from doing them desert themed, and am now favoring OD/woodland type colors.

I don't think so, I'm also gonna buy another squad of Black Widows when they hit the shelves, and maybe a pack of Valkir. Plenty'o Grunts for my Eisenkern force. Regular crunchies, power armored fist of doom, 10 man assault squad, twenty black widows ready to do business, pair of Levis backing them up... oh and a command squad to my HQ option. APCs? Bah! Who needs'em!

Let's put it in some perspective. I have 16 years worth of GW mini accumulation that is mostly unpainted, and quite a bit yet unbuilt. 20 armies, total. 17 of them 40K, and three WFB. I've been lazy (although moving every few years doesn't help) and have recently put together a plan, a schedule that will take years to fully work through, but now that I'm retired from active duty and not going to move anymore, I'm determined to paint at least a little something every night.

My Eisenkern are second in line. Much of the reason why I have an army ahead of them is that I am simply determined to get at least one of my 40K armies painted fully as soon as I can manage. The other reason is that I want to refresh my all too seldom used brush skills on some Tau before I have a go at the Eisenkern. But, that said, the DFG stuff are such nice models, that they're jumping the queue and getting painted before 19 other armies, all of which I've had for many years before the KS.

That should tell you why I'm confident in saying that I don't think you'll be at all disappointed.

Concur, I freaking loved painting Ada.

What I really need to round out my Eisenkern force would be like... medium tanks/heavy tanks to support the Leviathans. Then I have a pretty solid infantry/heavy infantry core, panzerknackers, blitztruppen (assault troops) to lead the charge, and lots and lots of heavy armor to ruin weeks all over the place.

I'm not sure if this goes here, but I wanted to share some of my progress kitbashing Battlefleet Eisenkern.

This is my most complete model so far, but I hope to have a couple more camera-ready this week. They are built on some of the old resin swords for the 15mm Crusaders, generously donated by RiTides. So far, I've only used the resin bits and plastic parts from the Eisenkern upgrade kit; I want to be able to come up with an aesthetic that belongs purely to the Dreamforge kits. Unfortunately, I'm having a lot of trouble gluing the plastic pieces to the resin, as the glue acts like a lubricant that slides the pieces around until it suddenly locks them into place, crooked. I have some of the plastic swords to work on, too, and I think they will work much better for kitbashing.

I plan on adding a few finishing touches, but I have given up on my dream of texturing the resin-based ships with layers of plasticard decking and details. Please let me know what you think.

Firstly, I cant wait for the APC and heavy infantry. Secondly, is there any plans to cover the rest of the factions in the Iron Core Universe? the fluff is pretty cool, and I would love to see what Dreamforge would come up with it.

I want troops to, but look at this
"Protectorate technology is particularly robust. The Protectorate do posses some Leviathan class vehicles but prefer huge tanks that use a form of TR band to allow for limited Anti-Grav. Floating a meter or two off a planet’s surface, these massive vehicles are armored in microcrystalline iron filaments that have been subjected immense pressure by exposure to TR fields while solidifying. Not as protective as Iron Ring Carbon plating and far heavier, it has the advantage of being repairable in the field and possesses the mass needed to stop most Leviathan assault weapons and the dreaded Dhar-Hazier bone weapons.
