it is not about how easy the conversion is but how many models we should expect, as if this is only 1 option there won't come more to make it a full unit for 40k (but I think I will still get them as it makes a nice Strike Team for Deadzone)

We should expect exactly what was shown, why would you assume there is more coming? Didn't they also mention they would get rules for 40k?

Because there were more named characters for the unit and also the original metal ones had more different models

so it is more about which timeframe the box is set if we can expect characters form other books or not
if there are no options for other weapons, than no there won't be more (if there are options, there might be an expansion coming soon)

Whether they do more or not, I don’t see why this kit having options would make it likely for further kits? What difference would that make?

Either way yeah I’d love more.

They are definitely about buying and having as opposed to being useful game pieces.

I saw mention of not having female characters like the old kit.
But this isn’t a redo. It’s just 6 characters specifically.
(Though yeah I’d have liked Criid, we could easily get another box of 6 or 20, with all the great characters in the books..
I won’t expect more but quietly hope..

Huh, really neat with Gaunt's Ghosts, though its a bit weak if they have no infantry to lead that actually match their aesthetic.

Eisenhorn has nothing to lead.
Technically Severina doesn’t either as Cadians aren’t her lot.

Anyone else notice the Volpone on the book cover and the model of Corbec have distinctly Cadian-style armour? Makes me hope that this is a prelude to new plastic guard, base box Cadian-style, with multiple heads and then Space Marine/Necromunda-style upgrade sprues to make other regiments. Becomes a lot easier if the basic armour and uniform of most worlds is a (modernized version of) the Cadian uniform, and it’s mostly hats and smaller decorations that make the difference between units.

Would certainly work for most classic regiments (Tallarn, Mordian, Tanith, even Steel Legion) except those in greatcoats (Valhallans, DKOK, Vostroyans) and Catachans.

Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"

I'd highly suggest checking out the Sabbat Worlds Crusade book that released in 2019. There's a lot of things that I've been wondering when they'll show up.

Digital sculpts make design elements reusable. I wouldn't assume or expect anything, but the existence of modern Tanith designs makes a conventional release significantly more likely.

Danny76 wrote:Eisenhorn has nothing to lead.

Eisenhorn isn't a leader and Severina follows the generic Commissar design which is effectively regiment-agnostic.

This group fits leading a Tanith army.

I feel like with so many BL books about the guard, surely some models will be released soon.

I mean I know the poor eldar need their models too but I want a guard army again very badly and I need an excuse.

He does seem to have a kneepad, at least, that looks vaguely like the Tacitus gear...but that might just be thanks to there not really being a whole lot of ways to make special looking kneepads without making them goofy.

I will note that Cawl was producing the stuff, in secret, somewhere and somehow.

Semi off-topic: Honestly, I'd love it if they just retconned it all to have happened at the beginning of M41. Having two marine variants annoys me. We also then don't have to go through whatever rigamarole is planned to explain chaos primaris marines. Just treat it as an upscale.

I must admit, I'm really tempted by Gaunt's Ghosts. I just need to see the size they come out as. The Underworlds vampire box I bought was not useable because they were all primaris sized.
I'm also rather bugged that the tree branches are smooth rather than having any kind of woody texture. Seems lazy for the 'Ferrari' of plastic model makers.

Today's going a long way to proving the "nostalgia brain" smear that certain people get very defensive/touchy over.

Everybody seems happy, because the (six, monopose, limited-use) toy soldiers that are coming out are from a lowbrow book they read when they were 14 (and a half!).

I'll consider buying the kit for Necromunda conversions (although I wish the sniper didn't have his weapon swaddled in a winter scarf, and one of the two "holding my tiny knife" guys was doing something else).
