Still waiting to see what my wife's plans are, but if she doesn't come I might even be able to fit you in our room with a few others of us, which would make it a lot cheaper for you.

The Warlord is still in need of a head and weapons, mind, and we're waiting on the variant head WM wants to be released before getting those. (and you know... Painting it <.< )

Would almost necessitate him driving though. As we saw with poor Timmy, Shipping is ROUGH on titans!



Anywho... Events sound interesting enough, Gits. Looking forward to seeing your MW on the Badab table... They'll certainly be some of the best looking

Ah yes, a mere 8 1/2 hours away. Really getting there is the hardest part. I either fly and its expensive and limits what I can bring, or I drive and it's expensive and exhausting.

I'm actually thinking of just getting the head and guns available now, and doing a swap later.

Ah whoops, that's not quite as close as I had thought, but really - a day's drive, and you don't have to ship your titan!

It would be crazy awesome to see you drive out with that behemoth and if my room works out then that would be cheaper, too.

Guess it's only 7 hours of driving (without stops). It was just miserable to do last time. The other question would be if Ramos could even finish the Warlord in time. I don't think I actually have a legal 40k army at the moment either. Well, Knights, but not a normal army.

Not a problem guys. More activity than this blog has seen in a long while. Besides, I'd like to see WM there too!

If I dropped everything and focussed solely on the Warlord, I reason I could have it ready by end of March... Itd be one hell of a push, though! Hardest part would be figuring out how to do a lot of metal and making it look GOOD. But yeah. I've done crazier things...

Re: guns/head- I could probably engineer that swappability iffin you wanted to go that route.... Nows the time to make those decisions- before its assembled! Just lmk, as always.

I hadn't heard that they were doing a different head. Last was the carapace mounted launchers. Got a pic?

Git and I both got into the Badab events. So the Wardens will be well represented as well feeling right at home in this event.

Well, A year late which I am sure is a record, but here is my entry for the Mantis Competition 2.
Again, so sorry for not having gotten this completed. And still trying to work on taking better pics.
Would appreciate the same critiques you gave the other entrants that were ON TIME. LOL



Despite being separated from his unit, the lone mantis warrior must continue his mission against his enemy. To assault his enemies head on would be suicide, but to constantly harass them and destroy their supplies would help his comrades in other locations. Crouching down in the ruins and preparing his implemented explosives, he hears a sound nearby. Can he quickly dispatch any enemies that come across his location and still destroy the supply dump before having to move on to another location to continue his strikes?

I think that is an EXCELLENT effort GamesETC! Fluffy, very well modeled and painted, nice bit of story line to go with it & lighted to boot! Fantastic! Too bad you couldn't finish it in time for the competition... but the end result is well worth the wait!


Oh yes... and you're disqualified for entering your figure a year late.

I'll do my best to give you feedback over the next few days. Quick look leads me to believe you would have done well though.

thanks for all the feedback. As it was my first time working with fiber optic, it was a learning experience for me and I know the next time I work with the stuff I will do better as I have discovered what to do and what not to do. =D

Very nice concept. The only critique would be some additional rubble/basing. Give it a more ruined look. Think you got the camo down.

Hi guys, I know it's been a very long time without any activity. Sorry about that. Most of you know I've been completely consumed by my Halloween/chaos list for some time. Keep finding cool models to add and it's been a complete joy and thrill to play.

I do have a project that I'm going to start today and hopefully finish very soon. It's a one-off thing for a friend's son for Christmas. Not really worthy of it's own blog so I'm going to post it here as this is still my primary gateway to the rest of dakka. He helped me buy a very cool figure I'd never be able to afford myself and the price of his help was painting this figure... so it's going to get my best effort. I guess that means this is my first (and likely last) official commission.



If things go well, you should see very rapid progress on this figure over the next couple of days.

I promise, there will be more Mantis Warrior goodness... but this is a priority with time value. It is kind of nice to be doing things that are wayy out of my normal marine/ork comfort zone. Didn't realize how much of a rut I was in or how exciting working on something totally new could be.

That is a sweet model . Are you going to paint it like the box, or in a crazier scheme?

Here are my painting instructions...

Top color: darker than normal orange
Pattern on top: black or complementary color based on your judgement if black wouldn't look good.
Bottom: lighter than top; not necessarily orange
Rider: kid's other troops are a kind of royal blue, with lighter bellies. The older a hero lizardman is, the lighter his skin becomes, up to white. This rider is a hero, though he does not want the rider all white, more a light blue with white highlights.

Plenty to work with. At this point I'm working on the custom base and have the dino temporarily based on something I can just hold on to while airbrushing. When the dino is doen, I'll mount on permanent base.
