@RiTides: Thanks. Like them myself... which is a good thing because I have more to do for Christmas.

Sorry for the lack of updates. Took last night off (went to bed early) and tonight I actually get to play with the gang (doesn't usually happen). I'll be back to it tomorrow night.

OH, this has nothing to do with anything... but I thought I'd mention it anyway. I've decided the "B" section of my iPod (alphanumerically speaking) is a complete microcosm of my taste in music and my musical life. I could live very happily stranded on a desert island with just the B's to keep me company.

The Carnosaur looks fantastic! My regular opponent plays Lizardmen Seraphon, and I wish his Carnosaur was painted as nice. Beautiful model, cant wait to see how it all turns out. Any future plans on how you will beat "the boy" with the Mantis warriors?

Yes. Paint up some things that look so cool he can't resist using them, but actually have crap rules.

Or... actually build a competitive list rather than what I thought was cool. Flyer, scout & land speeder formations, TFCs and podding cents to start with. While I had all of these things, they were pretty watered down by the end. However it's telling that my son didn't actually choose his army... he just fielded everything he had that was painted & still mopped the floor with me.

2 pages late, but congratulations on reaching the "500 page" mark.

Nerdy said it best, this blog is full of brilliant models, useful tips, and lots of laughs. Keep it up.

Nice work on the dino too.

Well, at least he didn't list tailor against his Dad

It looks you have the tools to field a very strong list, so at a lower point level the game should be a lot closer, I think!

News of the day: Shut the car door on my right hand yesterday. I don't think anything's broken and my finger nails haven't turned black yet, but my finger tips hurt like hell & and it's cost me the only full day I had for finishing this project on time. Will have to try and work it in around the edges now.

Ouch... not Perry brothers "Learn to sculpt with your other hand" level, but still, sounds really painful . I can't imagine trying to paint a day or two after doing that!

I'll have to get back to it tonight no matter how I feel, but I think I'll be fine. It's more the time lost yesterday than time I may lose this week.

Got a really neat surprise that I'll be working on for Thing 1. When I get to it, I'll post on my Necron blog but will make a note of it here in case anyone is interested.

Technically six, but only 4 get somewhat regular updates now-a-days. So far in 2015 I've painted (by my count) 157 figures. By Christmas that will hopefully be over 160.

More progress on the Carnosaur. Running out of time...

The only reason I show a back view is so you can see the one completed decorative strip on the chair.

Looks like you are almost there. What’s left to do? The detailing on the chair? Base? Seems he’s just about ready to get a bow/wrapped and rampage under the tree.

Your dice betray you? My Nid dice did too but, sincr I played Marines it only made sense.

Tell me Gits, did you get your DCM dakka dice? (Not sure if taboo to talk about in main forum, if so mods, purge me.)

If not, I have a second set as a "Christmas/possibly broken hand set" laying around just for you.

I ordered too many if you were wondering, so you don't have to feel guilty if you want to say yes.

Finish the detail of the chair, the base and the whole underbelly of the dino. Problem is I've got something major scheduled every night this week so painting each night will be very limited and very late. My goal tonight is to finish the chair and get moving on the base & at least get the base color down for the underbelly.

Stormwall wrote:Your dice betray you? My Nid dice did too but, since I played Marines it only made sense.

Second game my dice did betray me, especially at the beginning (a blurted profanity did happen... which is something I pride myself for not doing). However, it wasn't the dice. Just couldn't beat the army. The other games I rolled pretty darn well.

You know, I haven't ordered any new dice in a while, dakka or otherwise. (... and I think it's fine you mention it... nothing wrong with letting people know there are some percs to being a DCM)

Well, originally it was airbrushed the same colors as the dino... then I slopped paint of another color on the bottom of it so I had to blend it out. The end result just came out brighter. I think I used the same colors, just more layers of them as I had to cover up the slop.

I would LOVE to paint something like that beast, Gits! you're doing a brilliant job on it too I may add, it's a real divergence from your normal style of things and I gotta say you seem to be smashing it outta the park (isn't that what Americans say?)
