Mostly, on my phone.

Busy busy at work. Life is complex. Ugh.

Still - weekend! Woop!

Anyway, Gaslands contest has started. Standard car (so not a performance car, buggy, truck etc) modded however you see fit.
Decided to start with my favourite car as a kid, a Pontiac Firebird:

Love the rims on this already. Need to fill in the '50' with GS.
Laid out some stuff for modding.

And came up with this, so far:

It begins! Needs armouring now.

Nice afternoon of TFTCG with the older boy. We also got started on Auxiliary Grenade Launchers for his Raven Guard:

Much fun, just need to do the ammo feeds on the un-primed 3 (death to puny plasma cannon barrels!)

And more work on Morty.

He's coming along. Base needs more attention. Nurglings need tidied. Flies and spot details on Morty. Debating osl on the gun. Never attempted anything this scale before, cautiously pleased with how it's going.
Who knows what next week will bring?

I totally understand stupid crazy work stuff. I’m in hour 10 of 16.5 for today, did 14.5 yesterday, but at least I got to spend 7.5 hours getting paid to sleep here in between those two shifts.

Thanks man. Got some feedback (grudgingly) from the wife (she doesn't like being asked about the toys, but she has got a very good eye for colour and detail), worked on the wing fades and beefed up the rust (especially on the rebreather) and went for suppurating yellow, rather than red, eyes. New and improved, coming soon

Gracias! Had a bit of a brainwave involving staples as both improvised armour and as an extra front cooler unit. We'll see how it works. No further forward with getting a ram for it though, yet to find the right interesting bit of plastic lol.

Looking forward to seeing the staple usage. I’m almost awake now .

My wife is an English teacher (and department chair/fill in principal when needed) grading time sucks, 120-150 research papers every few weeks. I always was a proponent of grading by weight. Get out the nutritional scale and weight the papers .

Thanks kindly sir

Right, well, this bird is on fire!

Topside, finally came up with a ram idea (half a barricade from random sci-fi scenery, PLATFORMER maybe?) Means that you can't see the cooler grill but I'm not that fussed, I'll save that idea for pimping performance cars. Besides, using staples for more than one thing on the same build is confusing. Guitar wires used for cabling for the turret, and of course, the staples. I think that's topside pretty much done?

As for the underbelly, new tail/side pipes, wishbone and shocks. Need to add a new shaft and make a decision about rims. I really like the stock hubcaps, though the 50s still need filled, but not feeling those treads at all. Slicks seem wrong somehow. Don't want to have to buy some but might not have a choice.

Also, big old Morty is nearly done, I think.

Think I'm ready to call it a day on him, but still welcome C&C.

Detail shot

Yeah, pretty happy.

Getting feedback from someone who is not in the same field can be useful; they will often look at things in a different way and may spot something that we might overlook. I often ask my Mum (has absolutely no interest in models or wargaming) about my models and occasionally get good feedback between the "if it's your's then it's lovely" comments.
Experts can comment on the areas of expertise in a field (techniques etc.), but anyone can have an opinion about what they "feel" about a subject in that field (like/dislike, "looks weird" etc.).

Good work on the car. Good use of bits.

Good job on Morty too.
Have you considered colouring the "veins" on the wings differently to the rest of the wing?
Nothing too contrast-y, but something to pick them out a bit (make it look like there's some blood or "goo" within them (so a mixture of the base colour + a tint of red or yellow).

Very true. She's very artisitic, really talented at drawing, and highly creative generally. Trying to convince her to crochet an AT-AT or facehugger atm...

Veins - maybe. I like the yellow idea, actually.

Cheers re: Car. More work continues:

Having to build up the back end with some gs (out of milliput) as I've raised it up, and harvested some good wheels from a Tankinator:

Of course, now the question is do I need to pop the front ones too I quite like the angry angle it's at though...

And found a possible cab to start on my war rig

Raised up on a set of tank treads, this could have potential...

Och, I'm fairly sure mine will be too lol. I'm going to use the
Rigger rules, and I am very tempted by the Rutherford build: tank tracks, 125mm gun turret, rocket turret. But I'll see what comes out in the wash

You're most kind. Yeah, I could see that working. Funnily enough I tried the colour combo on my cultists originally and I just looked... wrong. Weird.

I've realised that, to all intents and purposes, my Death Guard army is finished I don't think I've ever owned a fully-painted army before. Now, admittedly, I still have Felthius and cohort, 2 Armigers, 3 bases of Nurglings and a Maulerfiend to finish off, but still I can see the army properly done, done, done by the end of April. Yes, it might expand - another PBC, for example, when that swings round in June's Conquest - but like I say - an actual, playable and not insubstantial army.

Of course I've jinxed it now.

A very busy weekend of family and reorganising the kids' rooms left not much time for geeking. Sunday in IKEA is oddly reminiscent of Death Race, mind you.

Still, settled on the wheels for the firebird (went with the fronts from the Tankinator as well, just so they match) and tidied it up generally:

And started the priming!
Decided to prime up one of each of my cars for every faction, just to get down test schemes, and go from there. Just now I'm thinking:
Idris - Red ones go faster. No contest.
Slime - Black, but filthy, with red/white accents and maltese crosses. Bit more uniform than usual. Might try to harvest some Black Templar icons.
Miyazaki - cyan, magenta, lime green etc - tokyo drift feel.
Warden - mix of bare metal, rust and mis-matched colours. They're death traps welded together, after all.
Rutherford - military greens, but with some gold accents - for the fans!
Patrol - black, some blue accents, maybe yellow spots. Because I'm batman.
Mishkin - Hmm. Not sure. They're pimpmobiles with mad science tech. Metallics and colour shift paints, maybe.

That's me, anyway. It's funny, still got all the bloody Harry Potter and DC models staring at me, and no desire to paint them at all...
