No, much to my Texan brother in law's chagrin.

Yeah I'm still stumped about what to use for the deck guns though.

I seriously considered it, I assure you but for me the bluesmobile will be a prison car, eventually.

Gitsplitta wrote:Very nice. Love the name of the big rig. Like that song.

technically it is a bus, not a rig in game as it's not articulated. But it feels like it should be a big rig, doesn't it?

The school holidays!
Perhaps inevitably, the only painting I'm doing is work on the house yesterday was spent on the eldest's room, today, gloss in ours.

Still.
Great wee 25 can death race with my boys today. Miyazaki performance car with rear machine gun (oldest), Rutherford car with mini-gun and ram (youngest), and Mishkin performance car with Thumper (me) - I forget what perks. Oil cans exploded on a 4+ impact.

Little guy toasted his big brother in no time, so I took pity and let him take over from me - who he then chased down at the final gate and did the same thing after an unfortunate thumper incident.
Moral of the story, don't mess with the 8 year old.

BUT
I managed to crank out this today:

Prison car with ram and big gun of choice.

I also made naan bread. Well, flat soda bread really, but who has charcoal oven handy (almost certainly someone on dakkadakka, but still ) I've never managed to do this successfully, but these were quick, easy and v tasty.

Captain Marvel tomorrow. I'm a DC fanboy (no, really?) but doesn't mean I'm not looking forward to it enormously. Kelly Sue DeConnick's run on her was superb and this looks very much in that vein.

One other encouraging thing that happened yesterday was that the boy was persuaded to batch paint all the red on his raven guard, even getting his little brother to help (ie drafted him). Start em right

Happy days.

Hola!

Work continues on the preposterous nonsense that is the Wild Rover

Now with crew and beginnings of swappable sail.

And my monster truck continues

Still needs a ram and Hypno ray, at the very least.

Managed to impale myself by snapping my snips, embedding a chunk in my left palm. Blunt tools are a bad thing, kids

Some gaming afoot tomorrow with erithromycin.

Thanks mate. The thing is realistically it'll need a whole new windshield and radiator build so I think the cute will be long gone, alas.

Meanwhile, I figured out how I want the sides of the wild Rover to look:

I have realised there's currently very little on the fore deck. Not sure if it needs something, perhaps another mast, maybe just more crew?

Hello again fellows, and sorry for the relative quiet. Wife has gone into painting overdrive, so that's largely keeping me occupied. Whole house interior pretty much repainted now. Man cave at the start of May, giving me to sort it bit first. Still, slave labour it isn't, getting paid in beer, movies and... other pizza, obviously.

So what have we been up to?

Well, The Boys had another death race, this time against their uncle erithromycin, who took a Patrol car with Rockets, and we added a new layer of complexity by introducing audience votes, effectively meaning everyone got a single Respawn. And once again, murderous 8 year old got the win
erith also brought us a bunch of wings of war / glory stuff, the balloon expansion and the Handley Page A/400.

That's a big lump of bomber there. Wingspan of 20cm or so; Sopwith for scale.

We got a lovely post apoc board game, Wreck and Ruin

This post-apocalyptic strategic scavenge and smash em up from local team Dream Big Studios is really good fun. 15mm (ish), with an emphasis on finding resources and surviving the wastelands, though there's plenty of car-nage too.
Really it's everything Fallout should've been. It's very different to Gaslands, and is more Fury Road than Mad Max, if that makes sense. Much more about dealing with the environment and finding what you can, though you're always trying not to get blown up. Peg slots on the models act as an neat damage tracker, and with 4 factions in the basic game (one gets dinosaurs!), you get plenty for £60.

I also got new Dark Knight Rises 2-Player starter set for BMG.

This is a VERY impressive bundle for £115. You get everything except a tape measure - and we mean everything. Scenery, tokens, objectives, 22"x27" Gotham playmat, dice, rules - never mind a pile of models.

For the Bat you get
Batman, Catwoman, Batpod (with both version as riders, easily magnetised) and 3 great new generic cops - plus, for a limited time, promo Michael Caine Alfred.
And for Bane there's
Bane, Talia, 3 Mercs and the Tumbler (though comes with cards for Batman's Tumbler also), plus a direct order only variant sculpt of Bane without jacket.

The casts are spot on, crisp, no mould lines, no flash - and no packing errors. Lovely, evocative sculpts, easy to build and no slippage or mismatches. Exactly the kind of QC we all want to see.
But for all the goodness here, the most exciting thing is the rules. With not one but two clear, concise quick reference sheets, a condensed rulebook and a 6 part DKR mini campaign that gradually introduces each part of the game system - this is everything that Knight Models have promised and more. Seasoned designer Mark Latham's fingerprints are all over this, in a very good way.
This is a great entry level product with plenty for the seasoned player. I just hope this is the new direction from KM.

P&M-wise, not much to report.
This got a bit more stabby

This got a bit more piratey

The boy started another dread

Fun with my bits box.

That's where we're at.
More to come, at some point,
Graven

actually I found them yesterday during the big tidy. I'm looking forward to getting them built, definitely; I'm refreshing my scenery as it is. Thanks amigo

Soooooo beginning a big sort and reorganisation. Lots of stuff into boxes, things to be moved and stored away for a couple of weeks.

But it's helped me focus on a few things, and what I need to work on / get rid of. So, Militia, Riddler and Court of Owls crews are now gone, along with some scenery, tokens and a couple of spess-sheeps to happy new homes. Which means, tangentially, I have space for the new stuff it's always the way, right? I've decided, for now, to keep the older metal gangs for Joker, Penguin and GCPD: a lot of work went into the various clowns (though I may reconsider, for the right offer), penguin stuff is really generic, and cops are cops are cops - in fact a couple of the more 70s ones have got recycled into cops for Street Wars NYC, which itself I now I have contained in a single, small portable box with 2 gangs, necessary civilians, all the cards, tokens, dice and other extras. Self-contained games ftw! Plus, the other gangs also work for Street Wars Vigilante, the Gotham-gang warfare variant I've written. Funny that

I realise I've not got round to filling any of the bases on my original Potter set so that also needs attention. More generally, the Potter stuff needs painting. I am, cautiously, leaning towards giving them to a former GW staffer to paint. Time, life, etc. I'm a bit wary as I don't like other folk painting my stuff. Feels like cheating. Thoughts? Experiences?

Part of the distraction in all this is playing Gaslands (obvs) and Transformers TCG with the kids. Really is a cracking wee game, heartily recommend it. But I am still plogging away also. Trying to finish off the Rutherford options for the youngling - as if the destructive little monster needs more ways to blow us up. So building him a pickup with 125mm cannon and ram, Performance Car with Nitro boost and Heavy Machine Gun. Really need to get the other lad's Miyazaki team done too. Once stuff has more than just primer on, I'll do a pic dump.

Soon, my pretties, soon,

Graven

You know, it would probably help if I actually included pictures of things

The Rutherford big guns, with a bit of pre-weathering (multiple different spray primers).

All aboard the pirate bus!
Where's the mast, I hear you cry?! Good question. It *may* have suffered a critical injury in an encounter with the mancave floor... Don't worry, it'll get a new one. Still needs a driver, I mean pilot, too. He's in a box somewhere.

Lol. Yeah, but hard to pull off audience votes, especially in small games, which is why the boy now has a 125mm/ridonkulous gun @D the car was originally bought for Patrol - but it just feels right for the team, and he loves it what's a dad to do?

Guys, the term "man cave" was banned back in 2015. Using it constitutes some sort of crime against humanity. Men have dens and/or workshops. Hobby area is acceptable, but not particularly manly. Just saying'.

Besides, the sign on the wall clearly indicates that the space is a bat cave.

Not to be pedantic or anything.

That's something quite different

So, gearing up for weekend away at my Parents' house, so mostly packing, sorting out bike racks for the car and setting fire to dead animals had all proved something of a distraction.

However.

The clean-up continues, and the place is finally getting there. Not found my Nameless Spawn but did find a bunch of bits, bases, other odds and sods. I might even organise my Dreadball teams
Decided I needed to paint something too.

2 more for the Patrol team, Performance car with front machine gun and rear rockets, buggy with ram and nitro boost.

Finally got my head round the front end of The Tormentor

Just about there with the crew of the War Barge

I've also started, very late in the day, on my contest entry for the April Azure Dreadball contest. Azure League is jungle Dreadball, so I've made a low-tech ref for it on a jungle base with catachan and deathwing bits.

She'll get a blue, Na'vi skin tone too

Hopefully, get some games in with the kids over the weekend,
Till then
