Visits to the museums, and castles, and the Dominion fleet

Cheers mate! Fleet has now expanded with promo Breen Ship and may have accidentally just got the attack ship from the collective OP from eBay for a steal. Oops. Well, there's only one other dominion ship due this year anyway...

So having a chilled day with my big boy today. We're going to make a pirate ship, and possibly that catapult, although he's all transformed up at the moment having seen #4 yesterday (not bad, too long, some great bits and nice nods). Also, I started building up his future: traded off my various orks and csm (which I'll never, ever use) for 30 SW, 7 SW termies, various characters, a LRC, a pred, a HB Razor and a Typhoon. I'm resigned to that fact that small boys always love giant super death men so I'm gradually building them up a sizeable force.

Enjoying my holidays. Not doing much, tbh, just relaxed. Off to my folks for a few days, and then back for the Commonwealth games. Am liking building fleets for STAW: it appeals to my CCG head a little bit, and variety is a good thing.

Not for me, you understand smacks of jumping on bandwagon, doesn't it? They've been moved to the garage into the big box of SM. There's a vindicator in the SW stuff also, and I have sprues upon sprues of SM, scouts, bikes etc. 2 SM armies, essentially, for them to play with. Oh, and it's a LRR, not a LRC. Shucks.

I also got, as part of the deal, about a dozen Steel Legion, including 2 GLs and 2 plasmas, a captain, a rocket team and a couple of what look like heavy bolter gunners if anyone's interested? Dibs here first for reasonable cash monies or trade to boost the boys' legions.

If you dont already have the rulebook, are you getting StormClaw, will net you a small rulebook a campaign book to get him started and a few SW's and orks for fun. I am sure the grots could come in usefu for some konvershuns!

Well, D's only 6 1/2, and though a smart cookie, I'm not going down the road yet. I know gitsplitta started his boys off a 9 & 6, so that's my vague plan - although I am seriously thinking about writing a simple rules set: 40Kidz, as it were. Just use a handful of marines to introduce the basic mechanics of movement (you can stand still and shoot, move 6" and shoot, or run twice this far and attack if you reach him), shooting (you need a total of 7 to hit, if he's in range of this stick), assaulting (roll a better total than him) and saving (3+, they're SM). They can both handle Talisman (bearing in mind that J's only 4), so this should be feasible.

Tres bien LRR is a big tank. What more could a kid want? And hey, if he does get playing, that's at least £50 I've just saved myself.

We're currently without any fear... The kids just watched what felt like a day worth of telly seeing the ceremony of the home coming of the team...lunacy all over and everywhere...

Rude jokes based on double meaning. Solar_lion commented on the size of my army, I commented that that was what the lady had admired. Fnar might also be considered as a.python esque. Nudge nudge wink wink say no more!

Castle pics look great graven. Reminds me of my one trip to the UK... though the only castle-type object I got near was Clifford's Tower in York. (sad panda)

Great to see the young'uns soaking up some of their country's rich history.

1600pts is a good size, just need a few more to get that 2k juicy bits.

Tbh, sadly, I think I might offload my sisters. Whilst they're a self-contained force, I have (a) too much stuff and (b) no £$. Also, their resale value is still high.

Hmm will you ever want to replace them if so keep them if not well......
