Oh silly man and yeah, but at least now we'll know how come

Anyone, a jolly father's day which started with pancakes, bacon and syrup (omnomnomnomnom) and is ending in Hobgoblin Gold
Scored a mighty Vader-head cushion and vader/stormtrooper pens (cos I am their father) as well as a limited edition bottle of beer, Shepherd Neame's 1215 ale. At 8%, brewed to a 13th C recipe, and a 750 ml bottle, I'll be sharing that one with my dad, I think, especially as he introduced me to the joys of our local brewer back home when I were a lad (although he actually started me with Harvey's best, the rival mob from across county lines shocking, I know - still his preference, quisling that he is).
Finished up the building of giant lego star wars project with the boy:

Oh, and this:

Early WIP, absolutely filthy, but more importantly seem to have figured out the rather swish settings on my camera phone

the big question is... is this the slave one of jango or boba?.. depending on yoour choice the colour is either green or blue...but you know that, eh?^^ cause you´re their father^^... oh how i love these sentences... being a father of two sons this slips my lips so often... and i get a hearty smile from then knowing the context of the joke fully well^^

i see... that is the ghost and the phantom... don´t fool us in the knowing... currently we have the phantom as well... and on thursday my son oskar gets the ghost too... do you own the lego sabine too?... i guess eventually we need to get us that kit too...

and sounds like a good plan to sip that beer with your father... i am actually looking forward to the day i will be able to drink a drink with my kids... the reverse is not possible any-more as my own producer drank all of the bottles himself and paid the ultimate price...

Boba's, will be. I make star wars jokes along those lines to my kids all the freaking time! Phantom is real one, ghost we downloaded the instructions and built from our collection adapting where we had to - get en kitbashing early! Sabine's in the speeder set iirc. We have her. Certainly.

Sorry about your dad mate. My dad doesn't drink much - but for a special occasion I hope he's up for it.

Well now,
What a day! Feeling very spoilt with a mighty geek haul. Kids chose me a B-Wing and a Z-95. Wife got me a Batman graphic novel, much MUCH beer, coffee maker, new Muse cd, a cool lunch bag and tubs (sad how exciting that is to me!) and a lotr T-shirt.
Oh, and a very lovely cake

This on top of some cool stuff from my mates: William Shakespeare's Star wars (Verily, a new hope) Millennium Falcon, Batman mini game rules (anyone tried this?) and Cupcakes, along with a darth Vader poncho

I started this unified version of my blog just over 5 years ago, just after kid 2 was born as running 4 blogs was unwieldy and unworkable.
5 years ago today, we were told he needed emergency open heart surgery the next day.
Staggering and unreal to think that this tiny tank is now about to start school with nothing worse than a cool scar (his "dinosaur bite") to show for it.

So, in many ways, feeling blessed.

Last thing: the public vote for the current LoER contest is up over here :

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/653409.page

Please support the one you think is coolest!

Later peeps, I'm off for a day of cake followed by beer and pizza

Thanks buddy!
Life throws strange things at us. We endure
The boy looks familiar huh? I wonder why. How strange.
The ghost looks like it would be a heck of a fun build in "reality". The creativity of lego kids never ceases to amaze me. I did try to pick up the minifigs on Ebay but £10 a time
I <3 the new Muse album. It's at once both more metal and more electronica than previous. It's outstanding, with a couple of instant classic tracks on it (Psycho and Reapers).
The shakespearean translation of Star Wars is excellent, especially R2's soliloquys. Much better than P&P&Z (although I actually enjoyed Sense & Sensibility & Sea Monsters rather more).

Gitsplitta wrote:Have a wonderful day graven! You certainly did get a fantastic haul!

I did and I realise I missed out a couple of things - Rebel Aces, the graphic of DMZ - very lucky chap indeed.

Fnar I am a massive Muse fan, and was a bit wary, but I am delighted by how good it is. The Black Mirror, one of the few Snyder's I've not read. Wife usually gets me Morrison, nice surprise  Also got DMZ from another chum at work

Muse are one of the few many that I collect every album for. Although due to ongoing monetary flow issues, I've not been able to keep up and the list is growing.
I've liked pretty much all of their rock, electronic and classical style tunes. But then I like all three of those genres anyway.

Not seen that one. But then I'm really far behind on the comic stuff front (not even read all of the most well known story-lines).

Whilst on my holidays, came across two interesting things.
One, letters from my navy commander uncle about the first meeting of 3 subs under the Arctic from the 80s.

Also, we went on a 1/3 scale train on the south coast - very cool, great model railway layouts too - but they had there one that been appropriated by the military in the 40s and used to patrol the coast :

Very cool
