I think what throws the Warlord off for me are the greaves on the lower legs. They are too square lock and blocky for my tastes. If you had made them more similar to the warhound's legs, I think it would look better in my opinion. Nevertheless, it is quite stunning.

If you look at the posts about the middle of page 20 you can see that originally I built the greaves tapered to the top as with the Epic model but I found I preferred the squared look better.

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/570/300245.page

Again on the end of page 33 the tapered greaves seemed inadequate.

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/960/300245.page

Again on page 35 almost the entire page devoted to working the greaves with many different dimensions.

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/1020/300245.page

Squared still looked best............. they just take some getting use to.

Great stuff!! I love the low angle shot, notice how the lighting make all the little details pop, it's going to look even better when painted!
Seriously, this model is just insane.

Warlorld Titans are absolute beasts on the playing field.

At AV 14/14/13, 27 Hull Points, 6 layers of Void Shields, as well as the large amount of StrD fire it can put out (with StrD being crazy powerful now), it's going to be a primary target in case it wipes out entire armies on its own.

Verily I bow to your great knowledge; having never played the game I was led to believe the possibility of owning an army large enough to face a Warlord (and its supporting army) was remote. Of course that doesn't preclude a couple of armies ganging up on it...........

Thanks for the info.

Now to the business of this reply:

Once again I am forced to demonstrate my ignorance;

I have in my possession a figure hardwired into the fabric of a Reaver

Could this be a Princep or failing that could it be used as a Princep?

I don't see why it couldn't be a princeps. As an alternative, in Titanicus, the description seemed to be that the princeps was in some kind of murky tank.

Other descriptions have seemed that he was just sitting behind the two main pilots, as a normal person. So it depends on the person writing the story.

Thanks for the quick reply and the info. I would be making some sort of tank for it and perhaps some LED lit gel for a SF effect (shades of IL&M) but the figure would look good in the cockpit of the Warlord and save me a lot of time searching for a viable candidate.

The warhound titan has the princep as a normal guy seated in a throne behind the two pilots.

That guy looks like it is from a chaos kit and could potentially be a tech savant grafted into either a weapons mount or possibly an engine compartment.

I have here a couple of images purported to be of a Princep in situ and on the offloading platform. The first looks like the Reaver Princep.

but the second (Center of image I presume) of whom may be said seems less than enchanted with situation is alleged to be offloaded from a Warlord down for repairs.

As I have said before, this thread is absolutely amazing. It's been great seeing this project grow over time. You are easily the best modeler I have seen on Dakka, Blackadder. I hope my own attempts at a warhound will come close. Keep up the good work!

I think having a Princeps in a tank would be pretty cool, and maybe having that model as the back wall of a semi-cylindrical tank (does that make any sense?) could work. I don't know how you could make that or where to put it, but after having seen what you are capable of I am sure you could pull it off. As for the general feel of the warlord, the only thing that I find weird about it is the arms/cannons. They look a bit... stumpy. Reminds me a bit of a T-Rex waving its arms in front of it. I love the legs though, and seeing it in scale with all of the other models really shows just how amazing it is.

For the cylindrical tank thing or anything like to do with Ad Mech, Titans or general conversion/scratchbuilding, check out some of these blogs:

Hope it helps. Good work, cant wait to see more of it.

Whoa, best modeler on Dakka (Albeit with the qualification, "I have seen,") is quite a compliment; looking forward to seeing your Warhound. The above statement provokes an interesting topic. Since I personally do not have time to search for likely candidates for best modeler on Dakka (or any other forum for that matter) How about listing name and thread link to 'Best Scratch Modelers'?

I'll start the list with three of my personal favorites:

Marcio Silva. (Marcus de Silva) of Brazil _ He made a brief appearance on my 'Titan Hunter' thread page 2 but has dropped out of sight but last in California. http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/60/210995.page

Dave Smith also of California, unfortunately no thread link that I can find but his Warlord was displayed in the 'Los Angeles Battle Bunker.'

KlausnotSanta of Germany, http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/310208.page

----------------------------------

Regarding the cannons I did a lot of thinking about the size of the main guns and realized the failing of most of the titans I've see is the outrageous caliber of the projectile either solid or plasma. I accordingly gauged my guns to a believable 25 inches which would amount to a 2 to 3 ton solid projectile and built my barrels proportionately.

You are certainly one of the best scratchbuilders / plasticard workers on Dakka, and probably the best Titan scratchbuilder I've seen over all.

Klaus is of course, fantastic, I'll also put forward Develain, with his Attack of the Clones army and Vostroyans

There was another guy who was doing great scratch work, but I can't find his thread at the moment and the name eludes me...

One of my favorite GS sculptors is btldoomhammer (Ger) http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/511239.page Almost all of his work is from scratch.
However, I still think you are the best I've seen working with plasticard. Not to mention the scale you work on is intimidating to look at, let alone attempt.

Don't think it comes down to a pissing contest to as who is the best scratch builder, every one to their own... everyone has there own perspective on the hobby and they're individual builds...

We all have our favorites and post we follow on different sites, some builders go that little bit further with their individual builds, that's what makes them the builders that they are, Black goes that little bit further that borders on the eccentric, that's what makes him the builder that he is....keep it going sir, you take it to the next level that makes the rest or us push ourselves that little bit further.

I didn't propose this as a "Who's the best Scratchbuilder" bladder voiding 'Piss-off' but rather a guide to mega-builders for easy reference for those with a minimum of time to search out "Large 40K" contraption modelers on the numerous WH forums . There are no end of excellent painters and green stuff adherents but not so many "Large Scale Scratchers." Since Dakka² is one of the few forums secure enough in its prominent standing in the 40K community to promote works from other forums I thought it would be advisable to post that query here.

I have my own ideas for a Chaos Warlord sized titan probably based on the FW Decimator dreadnought but that project is several years down the road in view of my present workload.

Well Good news, my arm is out of the sling and and my PT says I am regaining the use of my arm better than can be expected. I actually started assembling a Hive Tyrant today and was able to cut n' file the metal pieces for a close fit so perhaps in a week or so I can start cutting Plasticard. It won't be for another 2 to 3 week that I'll be able to drive. This was the worst time ever to buy a '14 Challenger. It's been sitting in the garage since the day I bought it. I had 10 miles on it the day of the operation HA!

just curious, as I do like a good conversion.

I have lost a lot of small muscle coordination during my convalescence and was going stir crazy looking for something I could do. I found a new Hive tyrant kit on ebay at a great price and bid it and won. My plan is to try a unique method of painting tyranids other than the usual 'carousel pony' motif. I hope to be able to demonstrate this technique and regain some of my motor skills as an incidental benefit. Right now even typing is a chore and I frequently strike the wrong keys with my right hand fingers; thank god for spell check.

Things are improving though and my PT and Surgeon expect full recovery.
