It is the kneeling part of the heavy weapons team, and one set of legs from the IG command squad sprue:

@VIK, RSJake - well transpartent would ba an option, but since I'm going for the cinematic effects and OSL, I will have to do it via painting

Well, since the last update I created some more muzzle flashes. Like the one for the PONOS turret:

I'm pretty satisfied with the result

I think it will look great once painted


The Bolter also received its flash


And I created an effect for the flamethrower

What do you think? any good?

I wasn't sure if the muzzle flashes were OTT or not, so I googled it. Not only are they pretty well scaled, but your "Rear Guard" diorama came up in the image results

Well, let me finish the seconf track section and see how it works out.
But I won't be able to make molds of the other parts (at least from this build, as I added battle damage last night).
But since I built it "modular" I think it should be an easy feat....

I'm glad you all like the PONOS that much. Well I'm NOT going to sell any casts...
...the quality of the casts do not allow me to charge any money from you, they are just not perfect enough...
...but I'm willing to send some to you, just asking for the shipping costs. Those two pieces are rather heavy, as they are solid resin.
So, send me a PM and we can do details.

To finish up the build process I created some antennae, by heating an old sprue and carefully pulling it apart

This makes nice thin strands of plastic - perfect as antenna


Then I finally finished the second track section

- This image reminds me of a Gekko face -
and created another mold


With the build complete I assembled the squad on the base again...
hmm....

..not really balanced...

So I re-arranged them

...now with 3 laser beams on the left, and 2 laser beams on the right. The Flamer and AC on the right, the heavy Bolter on the left - well actually the 3 Bolters pretty centered.
I think this is better balanced now.
I'm not yet sure, which color my laser beams should have...red or blue? What do you think?

Then I strated painting.
First were the base colors for the diorama landscape

and ended with this

So now all the actors are on the stage and await their paint.

As you can see there are no real light effects on the landscape yet.
I will do those last.
First I will now paint the soldiers and their muzzle flashes (also without OSL at that time), then the PONOS. And once I have them all painted and arranged on the base, that's when I will do the OSL....at least in theory

Not sure about the flame hanging off the edge like that. But, they do all look cool so far.

So excited to see this one finished up! As for the lasers, how about a lighter blue color? Somewhere in between the new Teclis and Lothern blues of the GW range (which I totally dont get, BTW)

id have to say go for red lasers. I don't know why but thinking of a lasgun firing blue lasers seems to go against everything in my head when i think of lasguns

On the other hand, I can't really move him more to the center, as his fire stream would block at least 1 or 2 soldiers out.
I can try to pivot him more to the center, but then....where is his enemy? What is he firing at?
The flamer is a short range weapon, and since I don't really want to add any Orks (or other enemy as you fancy), his fire volley would litterally hit empty ground...

...now it seems as if he's aiming at the same spot as the guy besides him points to...
Well, as said, I'll start at the other end (to keep the best to the end) and so we'll have some time to figure out how to position him best

As for laserbeams - we all know that red = evil, blue/green = good (Normally), and purple = awesome.

Guard las-light is red, end of story

As i said, for some reason i cant shake the fact that lasguns should fire red lasers. Purple or green could look cool. I think blue is too reminiscent of plasma weaponry though.

I think we are all brainwashed to think of lasers as red.

But purple could indeed look awesome!

Lasers are, in fact, not colored and invisible to the naked eye.....

I like it alot! Was not expecting Lava, and I cant wait to see your OSL with that!

Personally I'd go with a Blue-White, but as stated, LASER's are not coloured, the colour is added to it, so you can make it any colour you want... including pink should you feel the urge

i second childes and the others that voted for the blue... going red/orange would get the laser beams totally lost in the red lava like terrain setting... if you are feeling adventurous...then green might be an option too...


and seeing the lot now primed forming up a nice firing line... i think i now do see the need form some stray corpses littering the ground....

and i saw that way to do antennas on a thread here before.... that is a very nice way to get even and thin structures!!! very well done!

Could try to get fancy and paint them so that they blend in to the background behind them from all angles- make it seem more like a shimmer in the air than a colored beam.

oh.... that would be plain nasty....

Nicely done all around! flash effects for the guns, flamers,interesting look to the troops, the transport may ride a bit high, but looks the most comfortable for any army.

Looking great as ever. I was concerned at firstthat the laser muzzle flash is too long on a couple of the photos, but now I'm not so sure...can't wait to see it all painted up.
