Thanks! I do have the Baal with both the assault and flame storm cannons. The Autocannon is for the Pred variant which I had a leftover turrent from when I took the side sponsons for a godhammer LR build.

Mine just aren't as dynamic. I don't think I'm taking the darker shades down deep enough. I mean they look good... but they don't jump off the page, grab you by the ears and skull-***k you through the eyeballs like yours do.

Haha thanks Gits. I do spend quite a bit of time planning out the scheme (not only the colours but also how the colours are placed and on which parts) to maximize the contrast so it provides more "pop". The problem with airbrushing is its very easy to take the easy route of just applying everything with airbrush which gives the model a really "uniform" look. Most of the time I try to spend a lot of time blocking out areas in black by hand before later going over it with metallics or another colour. Makes a huge difference.

Those are amazing! Not sure what makes takes them so over the top, but they are incredible. And all four are magnetized to be any of the variants so you can have four own each of them?

Thanks Illumini. I actually don't have 4 sets of all the weapon options - I just magnetized everything so they can all be interchangeable between the rhino chassis and so I can build new variants later on if I wanted to. I do love magnets

Been building a lot of walkers lately and have finally gotten around to basing them. Up next for painting are a lain Jane AoBR dread, converted nemesis dread knight, imperial knight and knight a cerastus knight acheron.

With the bigger knight bases I've tired to add more detail bits to the bases for more interest.

All knights are fully magnetized as well

More to come soon!

Thanks jabbakahut. I do try. Few more years and I might finally be done my BAs. I've got at least 5 years of backlog and that's IF GW doesn't release anymore new BA/SM models.

I did up an excel spreadsheet of all my painted models and gave a rough assignment of point values based on WYSIWYG rules from the BA/SM codices. Here are the results:

Type Points [Model Count]
HQ 3175 [30]
Elites 3390 [63]
Troops 949 [58]
Dedicated Transports 535 [9]
Fast Attack 1006 [28]
Heavy Support 2565 [36]
Superheavies and Titans 1280 [2]

Totals: 12900 points [226 models]

Also, I got sidetracked this past week after buying a used Realm of Battle Board for a great price. Came with everything and was in pristine condition - unpainted and all. After a quick trip to the hardware store and craft store for 2 cans of primer and some cheap paints and brushes here is the result for one of the six panels:

Still have lots of work to do with drybrushing the rocks and I plan on doing another heavier pass on the sand to bring up the brightness more. Once the board is all done, I'll be breaking out all my painted models to do another photo session.

Very nice board, congrats on the good deal, and I hope I can find one for a good deal eventually. You could easily round your number up with a Warlord Titan or a few more Knights to your collection.

Thanks. I got really lucky with my find. I actually have the scrapyard 4x8 board from Secret Weapon Miniatures as well which I've yet to paint. After seeing the two, I actually like the GW one more given the bigger panel pieces and less detail clutter.

I actually have 5 knights (2 GW, 3 FW) a Reaver and 2 Baneblades that I still need to paint so have lots of models I can pad the numbers with

I've got a Reaver that's been waiting assembly for years now, depressing to look at it in the tupperware every now and again. I don't think I want to paint it until I've got my skills up to chops. Probably go through a thousands points of my plastics marines to get there.

It's in the queue. I'm actually quite looking forwarding to building it up. The warhound was very fun to build/pose so the Reaver should be just as much if not more.

Ah yes, I used to think exactly the same way..."Maybe I'll just practice painting these crappy Warmachine models first before I start on my GW ones ". Ha, you can probably still spot a few of them in my early pictures from this thread. Anyway, I learned that painting models you want to paint is the best way of improving your skills so if you want to paint the reaver, you shouldn't wait. If you mess it up, there's always Simple Green!

Quick update on the RoBB. Hit the main sections with another layer to dry brush to bring it up a lighter shade and dry brushed the rocks as well. Also used up my last little bit of thrakka green and asurmen blue washes from years ago to add some colour variation to the large areas.

Finally finished off my Realm of Battle Board this past weekend. I'm still debating on whether or not I should put down an additional darker layer of envirotex for the skull pools are they're more of an amber colour than blood red at the moment. Anyhow, I'm quite happy how these panels turned out and will be using them for photographing my models from now on.

Thanks Luther! I think/hope all of it will fit with room to spare. I'll find out in a week or two - I plan on pulling all of my models out of storage and doing an army showcase in one of the up coming weekends.

Out of interest, how do you store your models? You must have more than me and I'm getting to a point where I'm running out of room (and I live in a 3-bedroom house with just a girlfriend and dog!)

Ha, I moved out of my one bedroom apartment 3.5 years ago which was when I had the two display cases up. Since then I've been living with the gf at her place which is a 2 bedroom suite. No real room to put up the display cases so I've got all my minis stored in two closets in a variety of cardboard boxes and foam. Not ideal at the moment but eventually when we move into a newer, more spacious place I'll be able to setup the display cases again and get everything out.

A 3 bedroom house you mentioned sounds awesome. I'm surprised you don't have your painted stuff on display?

There is space - there's a small spare bedroom and a larger room we hardly ever use (where I do my airbrushing) - but my girlfriend refuses to have them on display! Well in fairness I do have one small display cabinet but enough minis to fill three of them and she doesn't want it taking over the house. I already take up most of the storage space with all my airbrush stuff, books, boxes of unbuilt models etc.

First world problems!

Think I'm just gonna get some K&R boxes...

Why not have them on display?! Tell her it's art and should be proudly displayed to all your house guests Yes, yes - first world problems for sure. KR cases are great for storage btw. What are you doing currently for storage then if not foam? Hope you're not throwing all your well painted minis in a random box somewhere...

Quick hobby update - been assembling a lot of models recently after completing the realm of battle board. Some terrain and extra bikes.

Finished off my first Imperial Knight in BA colours. This is the the original knight kit from GW bought when it first came out and it’s been a long time in the making. Many of the parts are magnetized including the torso, cannon, sub weapons and face masks. Also so time was spent cutting up and re positioning the legs so one leg is up. This required some heat gun action to bend the plastic cables to fit the new leg positions. This is one area that I wish I was working with FW resin instead of GW plastic. Main body was airbrushed with all details done by hand. Decals were used in many of the panels and then weathered using airbrush inks and oil washes.

Enjoy the pics...

Hooo boy! That is a piece of work! Great job on the weathering, makes me wish I'd done more on mine... Also really like the yellow face mask - really adds a focal point to the colour scheme
