Nice work again. And have to agree with the others, the crackled wrist armor looks nice, care to break down the process?

Keep it up

MonkeyBallistic - Thanks

LDD - I do mind you asking, its a secret.....damn that Monkey! Course not and Monkey got it spot on Tim Holt's as recommended by Neil. This colour is Old Paper.

Monkey - I'm afraid I don't have a prize for your correct answer

Northen - The process is really simple. Base coat Scorched Brown. Paint on the Crackle Paint quite thickly and messily, leaving the brown showing along the edges and anywhere else you want holes in the paint work. Leave it to dry and crackle. Then with a scalpel chip off some of the crackle paint in areas. Then I washed it with Nuln Oil, picks out the cracks and dulls it down. A little Windsor and Newton Orange Ink to add some colour here and there. Mig weathering powder dark rust and standard rust as appropriate.

This is pretty much how Neil painted the Ygg board but he used a different colour crackle paint and less black wash/no black wash.

Thanks for the break down, seems like a very nice technique. Have to give it a try at some point.

And thanks for the link as well, very nice examples from Neil.

A few weeks ago a friend started talking about making terrain/board, with NPC's, to represent a Mechanicus Market and wondered if I wanted to help out. At the time I was interested but I already have plenty of projects so I turned him down. So roll on to the end of last week and I got a mystery parcel in the post containing some bits and bobs including a Myridom Destructor! It is an amazing model and I am so glad that the ever talented Mark Bedford is leading the charge on FW's Mechanicum models. So suitably inspired I built the first model for the Mechancus Market, clever ploy sending me an ace model! So an NPC made from the Destructor with a skull in his chest, wasn't a fan of the skull so dremmeled it out and replaced it with a vox grill and a baby bionic (centurion neck piston) to operate his calculator. I also reduced the size/length of the generator on his back.

Mechanicus Scrap Dealer

The plan for his stall is a Knight head and a few Knight masks, some engines from the Ork dread etc.

Looks like I'm not building my sunken Ygg extension after all. Arrrrrggggghhhhh too many ideas

Those Myridoms are certainly tempting. I know I'm not going to resist their lure for much longer

Nice job, and the idea of a mechanicus market is certainly intruiging.

I can just imagine that claw around a Rogue Trader's throat after trying to sell the merchant some faulty wares.

Do you have an enforcer planned? Something that kills anybody who displeases the dealer? I think he looks like he could handle himself though.

Monkey - They are lovely models, exactly how tech priests should look imo. They are huge though and so I really hope there will be human sized techs at somepoint. Plus skittari if course.

Medium - not specifically for the dealer but i will be converting the fw open day model to have a tech thrall head. I like the idea that the enforcer must enforce mechanicus laws as well as imperial laws.

I think the "police" for the Mechanicus are called Provosts or Tech-Provosts, if I'm recalling the Lathe Worlds RPG book properly. Will you be doing a shady Reclaimator type as well? I love the Dark Heresy blurb on them;

"Tranters, primes, 'lthic cells, hand rippers, I can get 'em all, reconditioned and good as new—even a batch of good slaught. Great wheel o' the steel god crush me if it’s not so… The price? Let's not quibble about the price. You see, I know this up-hive guilder rolling in gelt and he needs a little intel you may have the knowing of yourself…"

— Obadiah Plex, Hive Magnogorsk Reclaimator

Your first chappie is looking great so far, the Destructors really are a brilliant kit.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"Your society's broken, so who should we blame? Should we blame the rich, powerful people who caused it? No, lets blame the people with no power and no money and those immigrants who don't even have the vote. Yea, it must be their fething fault." - Iain M Banks
-----
"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

Yodhrin - The enforcer might not actually be part of the mechanicus just enforcing law on the planet etc. But I'll have to dig my book Lathe book out. Now I might need to give him a mechanicus symbol in addition to the eagles. I quite like that idea.

I want to make some shady characters/dealers - thought about someone selling scrap code.

The FW open day model is that Iron Hands Forgefather right? Or are you talking about the actual Enforcer model from a year or two ago?

Spoiler:

The scrap code dealer could have hidden mutation beneath his long flowing robes. The Word Bearers omnibus has a tech priest that is forced into servitude of chaos. His body is slowly wracked with corruption, flesh and metal becoming one. Mechadendrites becoming writhing lamprey like horrors, and servo arms growing flesh muscles among the wiring and servos.

Fantastic work as always Peter! The targeter as gun works really well, but it is definitely the eaed that sets it off to perfection. It reminds me of some of the old tech gangers heads from Confrontation/Necro.
