hopefully the pics will explain better than my words what this will be then...:








still all highly WIP pics... but the idea is that this "can" is a sort of texter/ device that has the endless message on the (between those two for now brown stripes) green surface... it will get some decals fit to me such an endless text (wrong word probably...help?)

and the whole upper part is also projecting a sort of energy beam back to the ground to keep it aloft...

hopefully i can get this painted acaordingly to the idea...

I think the idea is great, and the top half with the scrolling text (is that the word you were looking for, Vik?) is well done and very believable.

My only concern is with the energy beam levitation. I think it will be tough to pull off and would be better represented by clear plastic rod (though I understand that clear plastic rod needs to be aquired and wooden dowel from the garage does not )

I think I see where you're going with this - I have visions of TImes Square, that what you mean by the text stream?

And Rawson has a point about clear plastic. Maybe you can get some Necron green plastic rods somewhere? Otherwise i'd make the beam detachable so it can replaced later by something more fitting.

at rawson... yes... the worst part is that before priming this rod WAS actually a clear colorless tube from a pen... but i couldn´t get rid of the inkmine inside so i just primed the lot... i know my pain-ting (pun ) is not up to give that energy beam feeling... well really it isn´t! so i think i will use clear green cocktail sticks... i recently got me a package of these... this should do?

at storag...see above i think this will look better... and also it will be in line with that other idea of yours i am still working on... the energy field... gotta work on the green CD case some more and hopefully i can make some convincing projectors too...then i will make two energy fields to seperate the middle part... will probabbly do there a door too.. just under the big vid-screen...

lol sorry dude, I first read that post and thought nOt_u said 'tickler' I was trying to think why Vik wanted to put a soul patch of hair on his ref?

Don't know if this info will be of use to this project but I've been thinking alot of how to do and paint different holo-pads, energy fields and so on and I came up with an idea to use special stained glass paintings on clear plastic... Have anyone tried something like that before?

at not _u... i first read thicker...lol...but yep, a ticker it is... sort of giving the names of the players that deal a particular nasty blow and so on and for keeping score...

at storag... i dont really understand what you refer to...but i think this needs more info... sounds interesting...
oh and i totally bit the bullet and saw off the pen-tube and then replaced it with clear plastic sticks... i will use this material more often for suchlike effects from now on as i totally like that! looks good in my opinion! thanks for that!! (needed the push out of my comfort zone )

THAT aside... i have a real update for ye all! ...

i present the "tickling ticker!"

i used tau and some imperial skulls and barcodes decals (figured they could be a xenos way of writing...which they are of course... )

and well i think i like that look... maybe i ad a thin layer of diluted scorpion green later on for a better blend in effect... or would that ruin the decals too much?

also based the robot leader... still needs some lil touchups... mainly on the base, but then he is done...

the hazard stripes together with metal and black i think will define the upper section of the arena... i think this would be a way to keep both sections apart even on a paintscheme level...

Ok. I love it, but I have a niggle - the base. It should be black or faintly glowy, so it can go on any tile on the board and looks like it is part of the board, if you follow me. But it is awesome saucesome regardless.

and graven... argh....! you are right...and i am talking of the base here (if you think it´s awesome, thats ok with me too ) i think i overdid it with that base a bit... you think i should change it?...argh...anyone got an opinion on that?

I don't know if I agree, I think they shouldbe super-bright - it's the one different thing glowing in the dark!
