glad your back to the world.
that tower came out quite well.
those old plague bearers are looking mighty nice.

i suck at skin tones so cant really say much on them but maybe some more purple if you want fresh bruises...i dunno just a thought.

any way hope to see more awesome stuff soon.

take care

Thanks for stopping by alabama heretic. By tomorrow i should have my plagueridden ready to post. I too feel like a bit more bruising would look good so he is going to be a darker shade than some of the plague beareres that i have posted previously. I need to get 6 more completed so that i can field them in this upcoming event. I would also like to have a completed display board but god knows how long that would take for me to finish.

Anyways. Thanks for stopping by and by tomorrow i should have some pics of where things are moving forward.

So... I am struggling with getting my army painted for this upcoming event. its 1250pts, two games with an emphasis on fun and beautifully painted models. Nothing will be allowed that does not meet the standard expected. I have played in these events in the past and the level of painting and craftsmanship in some of the armies is mindboggling. I have been working towards the goal of having at least 3 troops on the field, and the plague bearers are a welcome addition in that they are cheaper than my plague marines and they will provide some variety. I dont want to be the guy who shows up to the event with a bunch of spam. In fact i would really love to be playing a highlander army with no two identical units. Thats not going to happen either since there is no way i can finish converting and painting ten nurgle cultists in time for this event.

Anyways. I have been struggling with getting all of my plague bearers to look how i would like them to look. This is the plague ridden with lesser gift. I am working towards a really bruised mottled look but the model just does not cut it for me. After this game, i will likely strip the model and start from scratch with a repaint.

Comments and suggestions are welcome.

Also... I just broke down and bought the Avatars of War Herald of Pestilence to lead my bearers as a hearld of Nurgle.

while i should have been studying i base coated and got another of the plague bearers ready. That brings my total to ten. Not the most auspicious number but it will do for fielding a squad of bearers in the upcoming game. I am left eagerly awaiting the Avatar of war, Herald of Pesitlece that i ordered for my Herald of Nurgle. I never really liked the Mr. Peanut new plague bearers. I may buy some one day but for now i just want my army to match. Avatars of war's herald looks like it should blend in pretty well.

Not to excited about the paint job i did on this fellow, but I can always go back and buff him up later.

Questions and comments are welcome as always.

@ LargeBlastMarker - Thanks for stoppin in. And yes, Everyone needs a break from studying.
I do agree that some of the bases need some plaguing up. I have been working on a technique i learnt on CMoN that looks awesome. Later today i will post a shot of one of the bases that i have made. They look pretty good IMHO.

Here is a pic of one of the new 40mm base that i put together. I used a tutorial found on CMoN that you can find here....

http://www.coolminiornot.com/articles/1646-nurgle-slime

It turns out really well but i have found that using more superglue that suggested coupled with Elmers wood glue seems to produce the smaller wormy slimy ripples that i have here. The heads are pressmolds that i made from some GW corses. They didnt turn out as well as i would have liked but i am going to fix em up a bit before i paint it.

Wow. That base looks awesome. You're right that the heads could use a little touch up, but overall it looks really good.

Today i base coated three plague bearers. They are not finished but they have enough paint on them that i can field them in this up coming game i am slated to be in on the 19th. Right now i am just trying to make sure that my army is entirely painted with at least three colors on them, entirely painted from top to bottom and based. These minis could all use a lot of touch up but i am pretty happy with them as table top ready minis. They look a lot better in person because i was struggling with the lighting indoors in my apartment. I will get some better shots up when i have time to take pics of them outside. Mean time. THe droopy george model that has the sword upraised is my favorite of the three. I like the model and i like how the paint job turned out.

The PB with the pink thing growing out of his eye is a great model too, but i struggled with getting the paint scheme right. I still need to go back in and lighten some areas like his face, and darken up others.

The third model i did the most work on the base. I added the snail which might be a little bit to bright with the red shell. What do you all think? Snail with bright red shell too much or its ok. Thing with this army is that all the flat colors make it look washed out. The PB and the other daemons give me a bit of a chance to through out some color and brighten things up. Otherwise on a display board my army looks pretty bland next to a Khorn army or a Slannesh army.

I'm really drawn to the swords, such an excellent job w/ the weathering / rust. I have a bunch of those models and I know how small those swords are. Impressive results to say the least.

@ LargeBlastMarker ~ Glad to provide some inspiration. That tutorial on CMoN is pretty easy to follow and you cant miss with the results. I am happy with my bases. How to paint them is another question.

@ Moltar ~ Thanks. I worked on the other dark green one. He looks better now but he still needs work. They all do but they are table ready for sure.

@ Skalk. ~ I use Liquitex paint and a bit of foam to do that. Its a super easy technique that produces great results. Just practice it for a few minutes before your first live model. The biggest thing is to make sure that you have the right amount of paint on the foam. Once you figure that out its cake. Also, thicker paint is better IMHO.

So... I am under the gun now. I have about 8 figures or models left to paint and to in some cases modify for nurgle and then paint. AHHHHHH> I hate having to rush, 12 days to get that done. I was thinking that i would have time to get a battleboard ready but all plans for that are out the window. What do i have left to do.

I have to paint a plague marine champion, paint 3 oblits, paint a Chaos lord (waiting for magnets and primer, ugghghghg), finish one Plague bearer and finish modifying and painting a turret for a predator. As my GF is going to be home soon and i am supposed to be cooking tai food i will present with no further adu... My oblits and champion ready, based and on to the painting stage.

Comments and questions are appreciated as usual.

Sennacherib, This is the model I told you about on the phone. I think it would make a great conversion start for a Daemon Prince of Nurgle. Let me know what you think.

I agree Magnusthered.

Thats a great model for a DP conversion. I can totally see it with a gas mask and a bunch of boils and maggots crusted all over it. Nice find dude.

Here is a pick mid progress on the fortress. Just got done putting a nuln oil wash on it. Now I have to go back and highlight. After the fortress is completely painted I will be driving nails through the walls to give it what I like to call the "Event Horizon" look. I think it will look very chaos.

I'm taking suggestions on what color to paint the statues. Stone? Obsidian? Maybe the colors of each god? The last seems like it could get gaudy to me.

Thanks for posting an update Magnusthered. I would do the statues in a stone or marble look rather than obsidian. You wont be able to see them very well unless there are some lighter colors to make em stand out. Do em the same way that you did the violated statue that you have.

Thanks for the post Magnusthered, glad to see that its coming along.

Later today i should have some pics of my herald getting assembled and at least one oblit. table ready.

I coudn't resist this - that an elephant gun? Ha.

The statues should be different on each side but not in the gaudy colors of each god. Marble, obsidian, red granite, yellow quartz... something like that. I know you have the skill for that.

Haha that's The Poacher from Todd McFarlane's spawn-side one offs. I had that solely for the purpose of it being an angry elephant. No clue what happened to him, but still have a couple of those tusks/bones.

Magnus, I think they should be a stone and they should all be carved of the same stone for uniformity. Sorry Skalk,

Hi all.

Thanks Moltar and Skalk for dropping by and lending votes for the paintjob on the modified Fortress i converted for Magnusthered. I am solidly in the stone camp as are the majority of voters...(uh yeah, cause 2 is a majority of three. )

Just a quick update. I am in frantic work mode trying to make as much headway as i can on all things nurgle. Well, not alll things nurgle, just what i have to be able to finish in order to field my 1250pt army the 19th of this month. I worked today on a predator adding some camo tarps to the turret, worked some on one of my Oblits, and finished base coating and adding most of the layers i want to THIS plague bearer. ITs the 14th one i have finished (a very auspicious number in the eyes of father Nurgle), and completes the number needed for this set of hottly anticipated games. I have to work on the blade and do some work on the base, but for the most part the fig will look good on the field. I am pretty happy with the look of this one compared to the last one of these that i painted. Something about the color scheme and the way that his open wounds look just hits the spot.

Comments and questions appreciated as usual.
