Well, now we know the size. It's slightly longer and lower than a Rhino.

And my enthusiasm has waned a bit as well. IF that is how it's supposed to be, the tracks are backwards.

Hopefully there will be other variations based around those tracks and hull.

Well, perhaps they'll flip it round? They have listened to feedback here before, and taken things down to be tweaked, etc. Shouldn't be too hard of a change since they can catch it in the WIP stage?

Also, all the comments about it are hilarious

The funny part is... the recoil of the gun when combined with the shape of the treads would probably flip that tank over the first time it fired!

Without a back-mounted earth spade to give some stability while firing, it would indeed seem impractical, even if the cannon was a more sensible calibre. It doesn't even have the 'no, it fires rockets, not shells' excuse by the look of the barrel.

The chassis is great - I'm really hoping they make multiple variants including some that fire in the opposite direction and have a sensible cannon.

Man, what a letdown. Mounting those tracks backwards makes not a single shred of sense, and that cannon is idiotically oversized. Feh. I'll stick with my own conversion, I guess.

It makes a certain amount of sense if the objective was to make a not-Rhino in a similar style to the Land Raider...

Well as that big gun is designed to fit on a rhino chassis. You could plonk the top and front of a rhino/pred on there to make a high speed lowered boy racer style rhino?

Is that actually the finished model ? I thought that they have just used a ready available kit to hand, this way you get an idea of scale and possible look.

I could be wrong but the body has potential and maybe the tracks can be reversed, I guess we will just have to wait and see although the basic body I like.

I'm guessing that's supposed to be a "counts as" Blood Angels Land Raider, since GW never bothered to make a model for flying Land Raiders.

I do like your tracks, but I'd hesitate to call anything idiotically oversized with a turret like that...

You mean a turret like the KV-2?

An overlarge turret is just ungainly and vulnerable. An overlarge gun actually violates the laws of physics. Difference should be obvious.

The KV2 didn't work well in real life: Tank had to be level to turn the turret.

You know, I don't think I would have said those tracks were backwards. That would have put the geared drive wheel at the front - needlessly complicated for a rear engined SPG. It also means there is the possibility of slack between the drive wheel and the ground, increasing the possibility that you will jump a track whilst travelling.

I wouldn't say they were the right way round either. The reasons for that have already been said.

so what does that leave us?

Yes, I believe they're upside down. And it should be reasonably easy to remove the lug that the cannon frame rests on so that the track fits flush against the hull. mind you, you'd also have to move the tracks forward quite a bit so that the bottom of the hull/cannon isn't below the level of the tracks, or else you'd still get stuck.

Which could mean that the tracks aren't actually long enough.

Whether it happens in a hundred years or a thousand years or a million years, eventually our Sun will grow cold and go out. When that happens, it won't just take us. It'll take Marilyn Monroe, and Lao-Tzu, and Einstein, and Morobuto, and Buddy Holly, and Aristophanes…then all of this…all of this…was for nothing. Unless we go to the stars." I concur with Aga. I think the gun is simply too large.

That combined with the reversed tracks have indeed, as others have said, moved this from a likely purchase to a non-purchase for me.

I remain hopeful that they will tweak this while still in the design phase.

Yes, I'd hate to violate the laws of physics in my futuristic game of psychic space knights vs demons.

But I think we are all missing the point, the gun clearly doubles as the propulsion system.

Made, actually. The model has been finished for a number of years. I just don't photograph my stuff anymore, it's too tedious and most of them are not well enough to share around anyway.
