After much discussion with my Mentor Gitsplitta I decided to stylize my 'SpitfiWaaaaaaagh!!' and not try and run before I can walk in terms of conversions So with some basic mods and design cues I have assembled my first Dakkajet! I added some more iron patchwork to the body and drilled and added rivets from the heads of small brass nails, (and yes it took ages!) but my favorite part was working out something to add that little flair of character to it, something to laugh and look at a little story if you will ...you will see soon

So, here's the set up, the assembled Jet.

and now for my favorite part, that little story......

yep, i've got a Grot hanging on to the wing for dear life, fingernail marks scratched deep into the paintwork as he holds a paintbrush which he was using (or will be using) to paint the planes markings! his look of terror frozen on his little face!

and now I've primed it in a similar scheme to the Spitfires of old (or SpitfiWaaaaaghs!!) including painting the underside in a light blue and adding camo stripes.

I love that little grot......

And what's this?.....yes, I do believe it's Gitsplittas Ork Cyborksquad! YAYYYYY!!!! and look they're now primed and ready for washing, looks like it's wash and paint day tomorrow for me! LittleH's and Gits stuff right up on the cue ready to rock!

and by now you may have figured I like to get ahead of myself sometimes right? well, I managed to somehow in the scant few minutes before and after work each day assemble 32 more Ork Boyz, all converted in some way with parts and posing! and yes, you are also correct due to me lavishing each model with individuality you WILL eventually be seeing each one photographed in turn so you can see their personality!

Oh yeah....... STOMPA

....What!?.......................

The dakka jet looks excellent Damo, that grot hanging on is fantastic. Really like the camo.

Looks like you have been very busy lately.

Once again a thread of creation lay before thee, I now need to go and beat my self to a bloody pulp due to my laziness as I to own all these models and have done so for an age and yet they still reside in dusty boxes hidden away in the depths of man cave

I like the dakkajet especially the colour choice as for Gluade Moonet the grot that poor little chap hanging on for dear life just hilarious the scratch marks are a work of genius

Cyborks cant wait to see what scheme they end up with, I am hoping to see some creativity with the pallet choice on these

32 Ork Boyz slow down I can't build more than 2 minis at a time and then they are never truly finished and the Stompa I hang my head in shame and leave this thread a broken man

God nerd. You accomplish more in a few days than I do in months!

I love that jet, and I hope you enjoy the stompa.

Missed the chance to have a biplane though but with spitfire colors it all works out.

Looks amazing Nerdy. Going to be a fantastic run of minis & yes... the grot on the wing is genius. Now all you need is William Shatner looking out a window at it from inside the fuselage!

All looks great there Nerdy ! And good to see you arn't slowing down any !!!

Would you say the Dakka jet could be easily converted to imperial use for traitor guard ?
I quite like the look of that ! The grot is a nice touch !

You perhaps should have put a magnet in it tho, as you know everyone will touch it !!!

Nice looking spitfire Nerdy. If you're not careful though the prop is gonna get blown off by those inner big shootas. I guess that's part of the Orky charm though, ain't it?

Wow lots of comments thanks guys!

where do I start? Yes there's lots of stuff there but it's not really anything super exciting, just really a way to touch base and show you what's happening in the Nerdlair the Stompa (a plastic one) is gonna be a a while away yet I am kind of organizing my work so I can just pick up the next project and go when the mood takes me. I have promised myself that I'm not painting any of my Orks until I finish some things for other friends first so I will be finishing LittleH's mini's and Gits Ork Cyborks then I may do some of my own stuff before I tackle something I haven't done in a while! another Primarch model Vulkan is here in my room waiting to be painted to a level I hope exceeds my previous work if my ideas work.

I have finished 2 more of LittleH's mini's only 3 more Dwarves to go! then the second lot of his to do. the Dark elf sorceress& the Dwarf slayer!

I know a lot of these shots are nearly the same but I couldn't decide which ones to use

I managed to start my base for Ghazzy too, I won't be doing him until I get some head(s) from Gits......... sorry..... *ahem* as I was saying I have been generously offered some heads to try out for Ghaz by Gits and will probably paint him up as a figurehead when i get back to my stuff but in the meantime I worked on his base.

3 I love the base really looks like he has been crushed like a can of spaghetti just an idea have you thought of adding a drip of blood running from his eye ?

Haha I love those models Damo! That grot painter has some style! It should be your logo as for colors, did you already have this scheme worked out? I was secretly hoping you'd go a more dark German Black Forest camp scheme but since you didn't I might snatch that up. I've always want to do an orks counts as IG army. :p great stuff bro.
Cheers

All looking amazing. Love the dress, and the troll head is brilliant.

That Dakkajet reminds me a lot of this...(A-1 Skyraider)

Which is really cool BTW because this is one of the few prop planes to have ever shot down a jet fighter in a dog fight. There have been lots really, but this thing shot down a MIG!! in Korea in the 60's. Extra kudos I recon.

Hi guys, I had a really rough day today and nearly lost my gak with a workmate who just grinds my gears and is a rather negative influence.

but it was all made extremely shallow in comparison when I went home and had a suprise package waiting for me from Cam!!! wasn't expecting that at ALL! and what was inside? only one of my favorite Cam built models i've ever seen! the OrkChoppa! I can't thank you enough Cam for such a generous gift and I will be using it as a Dakkajet I am also going to be a good Warlord and change some heads and give her an Airwolf paintjob! I can't believe anyone thought enough of me to give me not only such a simply amazing model but use their hard earned money to post it! I am humbled and excited to be painting this Choppa!

I also have some things on the prime board for tomorrow, added some more gubbinz to my Trukk including an armoured windscreen and a helpful (if poorly photographed) Grot hanging onto the strap tightening the roll onto the side!

I did get something else it may be Nerdy, and it may also be awesome!

it may be a Tattoo of a Bolter across my right bicep!

now to find a cool Ork themed line drawing.......

That was cool of Cam and could have not come at a better time by the sounds of it to be honest I could not imagine you losing your cool as you always seem so laid back is this guy a real donkey-cave by any chance

Anyway chill now lay back and have a stubby mate WIP looking good so far like the grot hanging on for dear life

P.S. the chopper has given me an idea what to do with that speeder I have lying around in its box

Nice tat by the way nerdy yes but in this circle that just means badass but where is the bicep

You are welcome Nerdy, you said you wanted a WWII / Vietnam feel, Well it don't get more Vietnam than a Huey, will be a few of my builds finding homes.

Thank you all for the compliments, mean a lot.

And Nerdy, it is your baby now, do as you will with it, looking forward to seeing you add your touch to it.

Thanks Guys! and again thanks Cam I locked myself in the cave today an got painting and fiddling and cutting and gluing and all kinds of little ideas that were running through my head.

I stripped and re assembled and primed the choppa even without coloured panels and details it still oozes wickedness!

I primed the next 3 models for LittleH

I made and primed some Orky buildings with barbed wire and iron tacked around!

I may also have finished assembly and primed my Trukk and the Battle Wagon!

Oh something a little more finished might have LittleH's Dwarves done now!

I even made a good start on Gits models

That's 'all' I got done so I hope you find something cool in there

Thanks snrub, those little building kits are from ebay from a Russian seller, they're only $3 a kit! ;-) I got a few.........

The Dwarves did turn out well, that guy with the brew was my least favorite model and I was having trouble getting him looking how I wanted but he came right in the end :-) the littlest one is my favorite, he's just so cool

Really like that chopper conversion. Very subtlety not a modern helicopter. Little H's dwarves look fantastic too. Very excited to see those cyber orks again now that they've officially made the painting que.
