Got a little something to show you that arrived yesterday I ordered a Tablescape ruined urban streets board and it finally arrived! So in normal Damo style I had to prime and start painting it so far I primed grey then made a little square stencil and roughly sprayed each little square on the tiles from different angles with a eucalyptus green, after that I used the airbrush and quickly blackened the craters, after that I made a watered down black mix which I dabbed on around the cracks and used my hands to blend and fade the paint into the surrounding area which gave the tiles a more dirty look, lastly I've based brown all the other details that will be rusted metals next I'll begin adding more tones and colours and doing the details!

I also snapped some images of some terrain and models to get a feel for it all together.










and imagine the stories I can tell now I have a board!

A lone Guardsman and Lieutenant Varras carefully make their way out of a warzone with precious gene seed...


Providing a crows nest position Imperial Fists brother Nerran scopes for enemy movement...


Enemy command go about their business not knowing the death dealer stalking to their position....


Minotaur marines protect the lower levels while their las cannon wielding brothers take aim at enemy tanks...




I mentioned that this year I would be working on terrain, the gaming board is the main part and this shelf holds the rest of my terrain projects

Nice job on the terrain nerdy! I actually bought a 6'x4' scrapyard terrain from SWM recently as well. I've only opened it up and looked at it since receiving it and can't wait to get started on painting it up as well. Do you plan on leaving yours set in place or swapping it around once in awhile?

Looks amazing, but more amazing is the fact that you've gotten the SWB to that stage already. Mine are still sitting in their boxes.

Thanks Solar, I liked the green sort of buildings and wanted to match the board and buildings to sort give the impression the buildings were built from the surrounds.

Slack, slack , slack my friend! honestly that board to get to that point was less than 2 hours you just gotta be willing to go all artsy and get dirty with it

Have you heard of Tabletop-world.com?
They do Fantasy terrain pieces, but they are stunning. Makes even me want to paint terrain! I would love to see your take on some of their pieces.

Nice table. Good job on matching the buildings in. Looks great and you have only just started in at it.

Not much Styro, it really is mainly just scratches sandwiched between layers of washes if you want a part shinier for a highlight then overbrush some gold lightly on between layers and use different coloured washes to add some variation

Hey guys, Nerdfest needs our help. He asked me what he could build with his BA army to see off part of it for some extra money (not to me this time). I suggested making a competitive list using drop pods, but I'm not very current with the meta at the moment. Anyone have any suggestions on how to make a proper pod list these days?

Looks like I may have sold locally my entire Flesh Eaters force! which will help out in my real world life greatly at the moment!

I will still be doing marines though, Imperial Fists and Grey Knights but I won't be splashing too much money around right away :-)

Are the Blood Angels still with you, or did they move on with their Bloody Brethren?

I've got them at home in the process of packing them up and sending them on their way, it's a big job :-( my mates have all been incredulous as to why i'm selling such a labor of love after nearly 8 years of work on them but I have to be an adult sometimes, I need to save 10grand this year and I needed something to bump start me.

I'm still, as I mentioned, going to paint marines and still buy and collect but just not as much, I've already got enough to keep me going with my Grey Knights and Orks and Whaley's Sallies :-)

I've still got some primed BA stuff to sell, mainly a bunch of tanks and some marines and DC so I might just go chuck them up on swappy shop and see if anyone wants them! I've advertised the other models locally but people only want a tank here and there and are offering next to naught :-(

The other thing for my hobby this year is a positive thing, I'm totally re doing my work space and storage areas so I'll be more organised and if I know myself it will spur me on to get stuck into the paint again :-) new shelves/display and a new painting desk which means I can move my old desk into the garage for a terrain painting and building area so I can do larger messier work!

10k is a hell of a goal! Glad you were able to move them at once, hopefully you got a good price. I'm sure it's bittersweet to see them go though. You better still have 2 playable armies when I come to visit.

You know I'll keep you in models as long as you want em. The benefit of liking to model and not paint is I have piles of grey dudes.

I got 1,000Aus for my army, not bad I think, I could have held out for more but if the fish bites..........

I think partly I knew deep down in my soul I had your 7.3 Tonnes of Plastic and resin hiding in your hobby bunker that I knew you'd need painting

Did a little more work on my board today coming along nicely so far, I think I've done the main weathering and now I'll go back in and add finer details for the cracks and scattered rubbish (not that Imperial Propaganda is rubbish)

I think I'll drybrush the roads a lighter grey and the larger rubble areas as well. Any advice to make it look more realistic with the finer details when I get to them? any areas I can add some liquid effects or something else?

To be honest with you, that board is looking quite nice as is. But I do agree that it can use some more touches. From my point of view, judging by the pictures, I feel like that board could really benefit from a good 'dirtying', be it through careful washing or use of weathering powders, and perhaps for the road an overbrush or something with a brighter colour? To me the board looks great but the only thing I think it really lacks is depth.

Let that in no way bring you down, the board is coming along brilliantly, and obviously there are elements of depth across the board - the airbrush shading is accurate and effective, but I think that next level could be achieved if you went at it carefully with a brush as well. Just my thoughts. At the end of the day its your table and you of all people know what best to do with it

I have the upmost faith in yer advances with the board, whatever they may be Hope this got the creative juices flowing if nothing else

Nice work nerdy. I agree with lips that the board needs some more contrast. A wash should do nicely to bring out all the cracks and creases.

I would say the roads could go either lighter or darker for some more contrast, and in either case, adding some yellow or white road markings might help there as well, On the whole, it's looking great!

Thanks guys, you all pretty much echoed my own thoughts, some washes and dry brushing should be the way to go! i'll try and do some more tomorrow.
