That's excellent, lovely colours, gettting a real Hastur cult vibe from them.

they look great, and tie nicely in with the Imperial Fists who recruit from Necromunda.

This is the last few models that bring things up to date...

What could be more entertaining than a conquistador ogre? Why? Why not?

An inquisitor from Ghamak on MyMiniFactory/Patreon

and a street golem from the Smog board game that arrived a few years back and I have yet to even read the rulebook. Figures have been used for 7TV casts though

Automatically Appended Next Post:
A new spool of PLA turned up today, so I can start printing in the evenings again. The resin printer is half way through printing an ogre pirate captain riding a giant crab, which should be a fun one to paint! I seem to be printing a lot of ogres at the moment for some reason... no idea why.

I need to clean the printer out though as it's started to tear prints again, which is not a great sign. Still, the tears in the crab body can be made to look like wounds with a bit of carving and greenstuff

Love the ogre, there's something very appealing about printing ogres generally - I have loads of stls! Not printed any yet though...

I've a whole ogre pirate crew waiting to print after the crab, with a dwarf first mate and lots of pirate skaven from a blood bowl patreon. Now I just need to find some decent human pirates to bulk out the crew

My clubmate just printed and painted that ogre up for his Blood Bowl team - the new fancy human one, fits in great. Good luck with the crab, love that sculpt!

That inquisitor is pretty evocative as well, very space monk in a genre where inquisitors are more space witch hunters or space marines minus some of the 'roids and plus fancy gear. Ghamak certainly has their moments (I find myself playing 'guess the original model' most the time with their stuff).

Yeah, I'm not so keen on the pinup nature of a lot of the Ghamak models either, but occasionally there are some fantastic ones. Ghamak is one of those that I just buy the occasional figure from, rather than subscribing

Ooooohh that GW preview today is great. I love the set of vampires for Underworlds and a new Warhammer Quest... *excite!*

Aye, props to GW on delivering some quality fantasy-horror sculpts. Frankly I didn't think they could impress me given how many talented af 3D sculptors are working right now I wish they made a game worth playing with them - I keep being almost tempted by Underworlds (the Slaanesh team almost broke me, such a love letter to the 1988 chaos range), but I can't stand CCGs and it smells too much like one. I'll be seeing how Warhammer Quest rolls out, those minis are particularly great, and I've never played the system (I think it's a boardgame?) I guess what I really want is War Cry but without the vapid levels of randomness

ANYWAY I'm with you ET, awesome vamps and spooky stuff this weekend!

I am actually interested in all the things they showed, but I MUST limit myself, so probably just the Kill Team starter set to go with my Indomitus stuff.

Next up is a medic for my GS Cult gang. He's a simple conversion, reangling the arm and changing the staff into the Scion medkit. I like this much more than the cattle prod that he's supposed to have

Thanks all. The Reanimator vibe really does come through on that doesn't it? Maybe he needs a disembodied hand crawling across the floor after him.

Last night I tried printing a couple of simple objects on the Mars and it seems to have distorted/fallen off the plate over night, despite cleaning it thoroughly yesterday. Guess I need to clean the tank and check the fep again :/

So yesterday I managed another update for the painting challenge. The theme of the next dungeon room was Treasure/treasure hunter and their haul, so keeping with the Necromunda theme I went for a dome runner and some terrain/scatter

and a 3d printed dome runner from Imitation of Life on MyMiniFactory

That dome runner is love to see the stl, it SCREAMS 2000 AD at me (might just be your scheme... Chopper Lives!) Nice mix of GW and mantic terrain (those cubes are so handy), lovely verdigris work.

Love the comedian/smiley button on the dome runner , great little bits like that are what makes a model.

The GSC Doctor makes me think of Dr. Strangelove for some odd reason .

The model is from here: https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-the-outrunner-137877

You are not the first to comment on the 2000AD influences on it either

The green walls are what I've settled on for the main wall colour on the necromunda board; these were a final test piece. It's basically Sons of Horus green dry brushed in multiple layers, with a bit of Ionrach skin mixed in to lighten it up for the highlights. The chipping is just VMC German Camo Black Brown sponged over the top, but any really dark brown works

Great mix of scenery, and well done for making a disparate ascetic of terrain (mantic and GW) mesh so well

There are days that I really hate my brain. No really, I mean it.

I'm nowhere near complete with the Necromunda stuff but the announcement of the new Warhammer Quest and the excellent Vampire models has made my brain desperately want to build a Vampire Counts army for Warhammer Old World or 9th Age with some elements removable to use in WQ... despite that I've not played Warhammer in about... 25 years :/

To try and distract DumbBrain(TM) I started painting the Underworlds skeletons. Still a WIP

It is not working... not helped by recently acquiring the stls for Highlands Miniatures skeleton spearmen and seeing some great photos of the Fireforge undead go past on instagram this morning... dammit.

Tell me all about it. In the last year I have bought a 3d printer, tons of stuff for Bushido, BattleTech, AOS Orruks, 40K Necrons and 40K Space Marines.....those are the bigger ticket items...oh and Blood Bowl . I never realized that my brain is distracted by the shiny grey of Plastic as much as the shiny silver of pewter/lead, and definitely more than the drab green of American currency.

You aren't helping :p

The painting challenge has slowed a bit, so I need to work out a quick boost in points, either in the main challenge, or in one of the side challenges. The easiest one seems to be the Skullz one that is ranked by how many skulls you have painted. I have two boxes of the GW Skulls and an open 40k container...how cheaty would it be to have all the skulls pouring out of a container? Either that, or using Blender magic creating a few hex tiles full of skull filled pits for my gaming board?

Oh, I didn't mention that did I? the fantasy board I built last year was all foam hexes, which was nice and all but takes up a fait bit of space to store. This means that creating other boards, like a Necromunda one or a desert one (either for fantasy adventures, 40k battleground to go with the tallarn, ash wastes or pulp desert) would take up even MORE room. A while back I supported a KS for 3d printed hex cliffs, which was great, but not really viable until the Ender arrived at Christmas. they had created bases and top plates that go onto them to simplify storage, which appealed to me quite a bit. Unfortunately the hex bases that they had were larger than my current setup (width and height) as they were designed to lock together with clips, so there was no compatibility. They were also looking to take quite a while to print, so I created a very simple hollow hex frame the same dimensions (once a top plate is on) as my existing foam hexes that lets me do 4 in 2 hours, rather than the 3 in 5 hours if I went with theirs. Mine don't lock together, but my table has edges on it, so once in place it doesn't really move... so it doesn't bother me.

So far I've made a blank top plate that I can stick things to, or smother in Polyfilla to match by desert bases. In the picture below you can see the frame, one of my top plates and a couple of the resized cliff pieces. This approach means I can have one set of the hexes and crates for different tops e.g. desert, grasslands etc. in much less space. I think it works out about 4 of the flat plates fit in the same storage space as 1 foam hex

Interestingly, if I place one of the Necromunda tiles on top of the hex base, it comes out at about the same level as the rest of the table, so I can create some transition pieces so I can do boards where dust storms have leaked into the Hive, or an industrial sector out in a desert somewhere

Once lockdown has eased a bit and I feel happier venturing into the crowd that will be B&Q, I'll take some samples of the Vallejo colours that I want to paint the desert board with and get two *big* pots of paint made up on those cool *mix your own colour* machines as I really don't want to be painting endless tiles at Vallejo prices!
