I was seriously expecting the moral of the episode to be that Fluttershy was too trusting and being used.
The Kasrkin were just men. It made their actions all the more astonishing. Six white blurs, they fell upon the cultists, lasguns barking at close range. They wasted no shots. One shot, one kill. - Eisenhorn: Malleus

great to see discord back and even better to see that he's in the story to stay seeing as this can only mean they're gearing up to an even bigger threat or that he will turn again and t'll make for a great final episode. someting tells me though that celestia is getting ready for something big, first the ending scene with luna and her book in the first episode and now freeing discord....I like where this is going ^.^

They are indeed building up to something ...
But i do hope it isn't to this season, because that would be far too soon ....
I do think there will be something at the end of this season, though, but it probably won't be very big ....
Was once trying to make a 2D action-strategy scroller based on a mix of WH40K & MLP FiM .... but is no longer.

I know a bit of what's coming at the end of the season because some people can't keep their mouths shut when they hear spoilers and have to ruin it for everyone else. Not talking about anyone on these forums.

No offense intended at all, I just don't fething get it. A few questions...
1) Are you furries?
2) Are you normal? Please answer that from the perspective of someone who doesn't watch My Little Pony...
3) Is there some kind of ulterior motive for watching the show? I remember guys in college would smoke and watch ATHF...is it like, "Oh wow this show is so amazing when you're ______!", or do you seriously watch it?
1) No more of us are Furries than any other arbitrary division of society (i.e. if you took a poll of, say, sports fans, and they were honest, there'd probably be a percentage that watches sports for the Mascots as much as the Cheerleaders)
2) Yes. Or, well... Sorta. We're normal for the segment of the population that we tend to come from- Nerds, Geeks; the sort of people who'll pay $50 for a vintage Transformers t-shirt because they still enjoy watching the shows, or who'll start quoting "The Princess Bride" and "Spaceballs" at each other.
3) Not really., and yet also a 'kinda'. Mostly we watch the show because it's a good show. As mentioned above, we already tend to be the sort of people who'll take animation as a serious medium for storytelling, and MLP:FiM has a good story to tell, and tells it well. The animation is cleaner than you'd see in most modern animated shows, done by masters of their craft. The person who spearheaded the creative team also worked on gems like Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends (another very good animated series). And the series isn't targeted at a specific age group, and so doesn't have the condescending tone most 'children's' animated series have- plus there's plenty of "Parental Bonus Material", like you'd find in Looney Tunes or Animaniacs- jokes and gags that kids wouldn't get, but are added in just for adult audiences.
But at the same time, the incredibly upbeat and optimistic nature of the show and the fandom makes it something of a haven from the negatives that abound in the world and in media these days. Where most modern 'comedies' would have someone slip on a banana peel and be laughed at because "What a dweeb, they couldn't even keep their balance", MLP:FiM would have someone slip on a banana peel and it would be funny because slipping on banana peels is comedic.
In short: We'd watch it if it wasn't Ponies, and we watch it despite it being Ponies, and we watch it because it is Ponies. And pretty much everyone agrees that all the other MLP stuff is utter bunk and drivel.

Thanks for the response...I guess that clears it up. When I hear "bronies", I think "BROnies", i.e., frat boys who do _____s and watch MLP.
2. I'm a United States Marine, so I'm a hell of a lot better then some candy arse normal. I am completely out of my mind however.
3. Not really, it's cheerful and completely unjaded, it's positive in a world that's starting to make 40k look upbeat. Works better then my anti-depressants that's for sure.

Inconceivable! Also the thought of ANYONE on this website not being a nerd or geek is highly amusing to me.

Exactly.
Nuggz if you click the link above I just wrote a massive blog post about being manly and watching ponies. So there's that if you're curious about a long winded explanation.

1: nah, I can see why people become furries but it isn't something I could ever get into. it's not that I find it wrong it's just not my cup of tea
2: yeah I'm normal, I don't walk around muttering to my self if that's what you mean. I just watch a cartoon show about ponies
3: nah though I imagine some people do. I just watch it as it has a great plot, relateable characters and it's a nice change from the usual crap that I watch

1.) If by "furries" you mean "someone who derives sexual pleasure from animals/anthropomorphic characters" then nope. If by "furries" you mean "someone who just enjoys watching cartoons/movies featuring talking animals/anthropomorphic characters" then yes. I also enjoy watching Biker Mice from Mars, the Mighty Ducks cartoons, a lot of the classic Disney cartoons and movies, the TMNT cartoons and movies, and other stuff like that. Because they're entertaining and amusing and, occasionally, heart-wrenching.
2.) Before I can answer this properly... define "normal" in this context for me, please. Because what I consider normal and what you consider normal (and what anyone else considers normal) may be very different things, and yet still all be entirely legitimate. For example, we may consider assembling and painting little plastic man-dollies and pushing them around on a table while rolling dice and telling stories about them completely normal, but other people unfamiliar with 40k may think we're gorram fething nutbags.
3.) The only "ulterior motives" I may have for watching this show is to make me happy. To enjoy the story-telling, the character development, the art style and animation (animation is a career I'm considering, since I've recently graduated with a bachelor's of animation), the voice acting, the music. And no, I do not do drugs, or drink alcohol, or sniff paint, or anything else like that. I enjoy it simply for what it is - a well-written, well-made cartoon about a group of friends and their adventures. It doesn't matter that they're ponies.

I'm afraid your questions can't be answered that strictly because they seem to be going on the assumption that Bronyism is uniform. It is not, we're all different. So I can answer all three with: maybe, maybe not, depends where you look.
EDIT: And as KalashnikovMarine points out that he's a Marine, perhaps you'd like to talk to these guys about it:

Yeah as stated by another poster that's a Sister of Battle wearing a decapitated GK helm as a fancy hat, a reasoned response to the whole "khornate knights" thing.
Yes. My girls have "Preferred Enemy: Grey Knights" depending on who I'm playing with.
I'm planning to build a humanized Royal Guard army using Curious Constructs and Victoria Miniatures as a base. However, I'm kind of having trouble about how to convert Shining Armour: I'm going to convert this army using Gravis's Life Guard heads, but I kind of feel that they're "too old" (I always imagined Shining Armour as being in his late 20s or early 30s; Colonel Gravis's heads depict men in their late 30s or early 40s) and I kind of feel that none of Vicky's heads 'fit' his character. I was originally going to use Captain Caine, but he doesn't really have the right hair-style, and Caine would be more of Shining Armour in his wedding uniform than it would be SA as a Royal Guard.
Thoughts?
