After having owned the first DVD of Gasaraki for years and years and really liking it, I've finally ordered the rest, so when those arrive I'll be watching it from the beginning again.

I started watching Shigurui but didn't get very far into it yet. Might just be too bleak.

8th MS Team is best Gundam series. Just saying

In other news I've been watching the following:

Aria the Scarlet Ammo: Actually a new fav of mine! I'm really enjoying this gunslinger anime. Probably looking at at least an 8 out of 10.

Omamori Himari: Literally "Protective Charm Himari" (Himari being the female lead) this supernatural harem fighter actually was pretty good for what it was, lots of tropes and standard issue stuff, leans heavy on the fan service, but pretty good for what it is.

Current Season Comments:

Dog & Scissors is still probably my favorite of the season in a season with A LOT of good anime in it. I'm just loving the character interplay and want to see where the hell they're going with this. Chronicles of the Going Home is tied up for second with Servant X Service, both doing comedy in their own unique ways and making it awesome. Servant X Service also hasn't run out of steam/ideas like Working did so far.

I beg of you sarge let me lead the charge when the battle lines are drawn
Lemme at least leave a good hoof beat they'll remember loud and long

Those were my thoughts also. Time to get reading I guess.

P.S. Good choice with Gundam 00. I liked it and it is a good starting point where you were worried about continuity problems. Check out the original Gundam trilogy though (eventually); it's really good also.

Good choice to start with. IMO 00 is probably the best way to get into Gundam since its recent and keeps the themes of the original Gundam in tact while still being original.

hmmmm I didn't think 00 was all that similar to the other gundam series. I enjoyed watching both parts, hated the movie though.

An I watched the first episode of blood lad. It seems pretty funny, but I'm not really into comedies that much, or large fake bouncing tits on every female character. I'm not saying every female character in the show is like that, I've only seen the first episode. I'm just saying almost every female character in anime is like that and it bugs me a lot. I don't find it attractive at all

I agree. IMO it salvaged the Gundam franchise after the Destiny fiasco...only for Sunrise to drop the ball (again) with Age.

I agree the ending was somewhat crappy, but between the combat scenes and the rather creative design of the aliens among others, I can forgive that.

heresy

Age isn't tat great so far, but Seed and Destiny were awesome. Also Shin is a good character. Kira will always be my favorite though

Everyone has their opinions; for me, Seed wasn't that bad, but Destiny was just BAD IMHO.

I guess that seems odd just bc I usually hear the reverse from people? (Destiny being better than Seed)
I mean Destiny did receive really good reviews, especially among Gundam series.

I'm watching it. It's ok, but I think I liked blue exorcist more. Seems pretty generic as shonen goes, but thats not a bad thing

I think you are the first person I know of that preferred destiny over seed. Shin is a terrible character.

Besides, Athrun and Cagalli are the best characters anyway.

I agree. I always found him a childish brat who only badmouths Orb. I never found Setsuna or Kamille to be that childish. Well, in Kamille's case, he outgrew it, but he had character development.

Besides, Athrun and Cagalli are the best characters anyway.

Destiny ruined Cagalli; the strong girl from Seed became a crybaby wimp in Destiny.

Destiny also had ripped-off MS. Zaku? Gouf? Dom? Yeah, like we've never seen those before. Jetstream Attack? How original...

It was similar in that original MSG had a message that people could come to an understanding and eventually either A) accept each other's differences or B) Wipe each other out (as Haman and Kamille showed and again with Kamille and Paptimus). That's how 00 was really similar. Not to mention that Ribbons Almark was voiced by Amuro's VA in 00 and Ribbons was the original pilot of the first Gundam. Reborns Gundam was a Guncannon and Gundam combined and originally the plans called for it to have Guntank in there too.

Just curious why did you think it was bad?

Also on the Seed Destiny topic..I have only heard of like 1 or 2 people on the net (not even IRL) who like Destiny. Everyone I know hates it as much as they hate AGE.

I shall weigh in also. I really like Gundam Seed, and I prefer seed over destiny. I watch the set to get the whole story, but Shinn REALLY drags down destiny (and he is a main character). I just finished rewatching it ironically and I had to skip about 15 eps to avoid Shinn as much as possible and get to the parts with the REAL main characters. And they did screw with Cagalli's character, luckily they righted that ship when Orb was attacked and she took control. But even still you can get enjoyment out of it.....if you can avoid Shinn that is.

I also didn't mind the ending to the 00 movie. The combat scenes in the movie were amazing, and the endless swarm of ELS was cool (and cool-looking).

And AGE was like Mobile Suit Gundam for Kids. It felt really toned down from where 00 was to the point that kids would understand and be interested, but it didn't bring in anything to hook the older crowd besides the word Gundam (which will only get you so far, like a couple eps for some people I know).

Eh i still like Shin a lot. He has one of my favorite story lines for any character and a sick as hell Gundam. And he is an amazing pilot

My friend just finished watching Evagalion 2.2 as well, he didn't like it very much either. He found it really confusing.

Also I;m sure everyone else has heard it but Miyazaki is about to retire after his next movie

Naw watched the series, hoped the movie would be better...I guess I am very choosy about anime.... just a bit to angsty for me.

It's not bad per se just...vague and inconclusive. I mean, we don't get to see much about the state of Humanity and the ESF in AD 2364, apart from the fact that they've managed to integrate Innovators, Innovades, and Humans together, and build colony ships in cooperation with the ELS...I really wanted an OVA to clarify things, but I gave up on that once Age came out.

EDIT: Regarding NGE...mind screw at its finest. If you want anime from that period of anime history, I recommend the Vision of Escaflowne. The characters are likable, and the animation is better IMO.
