Your gun is pretty amazing, however, the blades on all the chain weapons shown have a part where they start and where they end. It's a bit difficult to explain but the chain is within a housing and moves from inside the housing to outside. I think the second picture from LLD shows it best. the teeth seem to get smaller when the start to arrive at the pivot whereas yours seem to be the same length the entire way and then suddenly disappear.

Thanks tarar2d2 you explained that better than I did, it is where the chain teeth would move into the housing that was looking off, you need to make it look like it is running.

The problem is it looks like there is no chain of teeth running in a loop, rather looks like partial group of teeth on a blade, I hope that makes more sense.

Looking back at your boots I think you are right mate, it is the 2 toe that was throwing me of however looking at it again in a new perspective it is the right scale
Also the anti gravity mechanism inside would explain the larger sized boot, so I bow down to thee on that

So over all cool stuff but the chain mechanism needs alteration to make it look like a chain rather than a section of toothed blade

Yeap LDD I'll keep working on it... Hope It'll look better next time

So here are the rest of the pics I promised

The back generator.

I won't be making any fluff on it right now just describe the concept behind.
Tau's FW backpacks purpose is unknown to me and they look more like a PC motherbord than a backpack, or a generator It can't be a power unit as their armour is basically a cloth suit with plaiting, nothing that needs a generator of that size to power up... My take it's a communication unit but still a rediculous one My re-designed all environment suit with all that modern tech needed a power source, somethin light, stylish and sci-fi looking... So I took ideas from two great titles - Dead Space and Mass Effect, and here it is; The spinal cord blocks are power capasitors and are meant to be painted in bright, glowing way. The two plaitings on the sides are equipment docking pods, a place to hang weapons on or special gadgets. They also have a central part that should be "glowing".

That's all with parts for now... To continue I need to cast this parts and use them in converting other pieces of FW set. Here are lots of pics of an assembled set:

With "Lancer" rifle

With original Tau FW

It was a long and rather involving project and It's only a beginning but all in all I am quite happy with the result. Hope you like it too guys... Cheers!

Now that's a finished project to be proud of! The piece as a whole is very cohesive, and doesn't look like a Tau FW with human bits glued on

I have to take most of it back seeing it as a completed miniature really pulls it all together

The back design is rather cool and creative and the fluff really explained the reason for the design, also I really like the spinal design.

Now sculpt them up and send them this way no but it does look fun to paint up, however due to you're paint pallet rules they would not make great stealth troops …… due to the glowing issues

The chain blade needs work still sorry but you don't want ruin a great mini with something so simple to resolve

@ Rawson
I want to start being proud, but... I'll better wait till I have at least a full squad of this guys

@ RW
Thanks pal! That was the plan

@ LDD
I told you'll see it all when assembled

The blade on that photo is in the same state as on the previous pics... =/ It took me hours to pull that post together due to my wife... distractions everywhere!!!
I promise I'll improve it! BTW im doing a combat shotgun from a lasgun right now... don't know what for yet... But if it'll look nice I'll find a use.

When the flashies where a problem? Stealth field generator module will solve it just right! I really do want to make various accessories like ammo packs, different functional modules etc

Hope to try casting parts this week...

Hehe, so you went Deadspace on the back(pack) I like that!
Like I said before, great work, but I think you could have changed the barrel/muzzle of the guns a little bit, they are so very recognizable and distinctive.

I think he still wants the general look to be the same just redesigned for use by the syndicate, in his fluff it explains how this has come about also if he wanted to use it with Tau they would blend easily.

Very impressive, I have no idea how you can do such neat work at such a small scale. I have to agree about the chainblade though, if you made the teeth about 40% smaller then it would look more plausible, as it is they don't look like they would fit on a loop inside the housing.

wow! the finished models look very good! a totally new feel to the former ingredients!

tho i have some minr nitpicks still if you want to hear them...

the cameltoe feets/boots look wrong to me... what is your fluffy thoughts about these then?

also i am not too sold on the chainsawblade on the gun... but that´s just personal preferreces at work here... never liked that idea on any gun...

the backpack however is totally sexy looking... full marks on that one

good luck with the castings for these then!

@ Baiyuan
Glad you liked the DS back, the concept is too sexy not to use On the barrel - I only change what I can explain at least to myself. On one side those pulse guns have a pretty solid fluff from GW - the barrel design is tied to it's functionality: the plasma accelerator, the gyroscope etc. On the other side, I'm quite happy with their high-tech sci-fi look so why change that?

@ LDD
Tottaly true mate!

@ Bruticus
Can't tell it myself... some times I don't even see what I'm sculpting I just now it should be there... Working on the teeth

@ Vik
The boots... There are several thoughts behind:
- They are supposed to make an agent in this suit of armour a truly all-terrain unit and you know what? A camel is not called a Desert Landship for nothing! Camels and Moose have an interesting feet structure - in general terms they have two independent flat "fingers" which allow them to move safely through even the most treacherous terrain like deserts and swamps. Why not reconstruct this nature-born design in a high-tech boots?
- The cloven-hoof design is in my opinion a nice throwback to tau's origin of the tech-base
- There are lots of futuristic feet wear designsout there but when it comes to heavy armour they all look boringly alike and this one is at least fresh. I plan to sculpt lots of things and I do not wish to start repeating myself too early. The aesthetic component of this desing is doomed to be controversial as anything that is out of the pattern frame might seem wrong and unappealing to many. Ish hate's them actually as I think many people will but I'm tottaly fine with that I do hate snickers after all which doesn't make them anyway less popular

And I am a huge fan of all manner of gun-blades including chainblades I'' try to fix this one.

LOL... ok... i see... from a fluffy perspective i can say you have done a good thinking behind the toes^^...and i agree repeatings are always boring... goes with the territory i guess^^

so i resent my thoughts a bit... but only as you stated... in a snickers kind of way ...(you won´t fall in my opinion due to this outrageous taste of yours )

on the chainblades on guns i remain stern tho... but i will still love your work... i do differ between not liking and actual dislikeing stuff and liking stuff... and while i do not like the chain blade i still think it looks right in terms of size and the way you sculpted/modeled it... so...more of ...all!

Damn, Vik you allways pull me off the track!

This are the old sneakers - I hate them. Basically they are a piece of crude cloth glued to a rubber pad. Bad for feets and barely comfortable.

This are the modern sneakers - I like them! They are made from the innovative materials and attuned to best fit human physiology, compensating for many structural flaws one's locomotor apparatus may have.

Every footwear between those is called sneakers and I think they all must have some special names in english but I don't know them

@ Vik and RW
I'm no adept of fashion or sub-cultural trends and I only wear what I think fits me and is comfortable. With boots I have to be picky due to the flat feet. But that's not my point. I strongly believe that the only good reason to start doing something with you're hands is to give birth to concepts in your head. While quality can always be improved and thus is a subject to discussion the concept, if you believe in it should never be alerted to please somebodies aesthetic preferences. We all have different tastes so that has no sense. If somebody likes the result- - that's great, if not you still love it yourself the only thing that can disappoint me is when I go slacking on quality.

The improved (I hope) chain teeth

I want § to have an diverse arsenal so I plan to expand it with new weaponry when the suitable ideas come along. Meet the a new entry:

§ M008 CS Fully Automatic Combat Shotgun + High Impact Ammo (aka "Imps")

This design is the result of Syndicates research on possible firearms implementations in modern 40k warfare. Extensive testing proved that the only field where mundane firearms can compete with even the least powerful energy weapons is the low range combat where shotguns offered a considerable stopping power matched by a relatively easy maintenance. The M8 CS features low recoil and is fully automatic, delivering the firing rate of almost 300 shots per minute. It can use any shotgun ammo type commonly found on the imperial worlds but it really shines with the special High Impact ammo designed by Synapse researchers - the shotgun shell contains a winged projectile which comes out when a primer is struck. The curved wings unfold and a projectile flies forward like a spinning dart extending the shotgun's effective firing range to almost 200 meters. They come in 3 types: AP, High Explosive and Frag turning the gun in to a small grenade launcher. The combined power of this gun and ammo is truely demonic so the shells quickly earned the nickname "Imps" for they are like an imp popping out of the box.
This model is one of few Syndicates designes sold to the outsiders. Rumors tell that it quickly became legendary and is hunted for on the blackmarkets.

Cheers!

As I've said I can sculpt thin but not THAT thin =( I tried to but the blade is almost as wide as the barrel itself and with sculpts it just look wrong and heavy. You can't see that on the rear shot like here but when I look at it in my hands it's really obvious. Paintjob is the only wat here at least with my skills. Please remember how small those parts really are and that I'm no magician

The chainblade looks better with the alteration, the shotgun does look pretty cool and I like the general layout the fluff was interesting as well.

Although not sure how these wings would work totally but thats sci-fi for you
