I'm amused by how every Eldar army has at least 2 of the following: Scatterbikes, Warp Spiders, Wraithknight, Triptides.

Almost every army you'll see has it's mathematically designed powerlist. All that except Orks, CSM or SoB. This is a tourney after all. You get a mix of competitive players and fluff players. In my experience you see a lot more powerlists than in years past and has been one of the reasons the Wardens ( our group ) has opted out in favor of more themed events. You can judge for yourself based on the pictures..

More to come... as well as some pics of my games ( Lamenters and Alpha Legion )

Anytime Brother.... oh and I haven't forgot to send you the buildings I made....I have one last building to finish and I'll get all those in the mail! This one is rather large so It's going slow.

I look forward to the Warden reunion next year! Perhaps we'll see some Ice Angels in mass?

I can certainly bring Ice Angels in mass but I wouldn't want too unless a painting miracle occurred and they were suddenly all amazing!

Oh, certainly, I played the Norwegian Open this year and faced the list! I'm not criticising the players - it is a tournament after all! - but it's a pity rules- and games-wise.

One of the reasons I'm more likely to invest in 30K. Alpha Legion was well represented at our 30k events. In fact we got to the point of as we pass each other in the hotel/hall we say'' Hello Alpharius' to each other.

I did the same. I'm switching to 30k, Alpha Legion as well, because I play CSMs otherwise. I get mauled almost every battle, so at least with 30k I can do something!

Not a real battle report but I did manage to take a lot of pictures of the first game at least. The first round I got selected to do a 2vs2 battle with a Astral Claws player vs. 2 Salamanders player.
Here is our starting positions. There were objectives in the buildings of which our 5 scouts squads adequately covered. As you can see the LoS blocking terrain was large and made it difficult for us to use our snipers.

First turn Drop pods

His vet squad keeping him busy in the backfield

They bolster their Line with some nicely painted special honor guard Salamander unit.

Drop pod dread in our deployment zone while we start slowly shooting each other up.

The Lamenters tac squads deploy to deal with it.

Flyers arrive and start clearing the right side.

To be continued…

I thought that was a really interesting table to play on. The firing lanes were really challenging and forced some outside the box thinking on both sides.

More from my 1st game at Adepticon. The Badab campaign.
Big fight in their back field… Note both my assault squads mishap and are placed in the corner with no cover. Least to say they were both destroyed before making any impact.

Same thing in my backfield.

Fighting everywhere

We win the game. I really have to learn to play more aggressively. But not this day…

Game 2.. Only got to 2 turns. Here is a shot of the top of turn 1. Lost primary, won Secondary.

Game 3
Ended up playing on of the guys I played in the first game. Lost both Primary and secondary.

Here I suffered from complete dice failure. The tall building were cool to look at but terrible for LoS. With all the units hugging the buildings you were in you never got a target. So my scouts accounted for no Kills all game.

Bonus picture.. on my last game next to us was to be the two medal winners fighting it out.

Next up the Badab Apoc game. We secessionists or the ‘Oppressed’ as we were called were short players so we Drafted Ramos to our cause. He managed to cobble together close to enough points and away we went.
Here is what we faced.

Here is what we started with…

Both of the group had multiple stratagems and special rules. Our wall prevented flyers from passing over. They had a titan with multiple Apoc blast templates that ignored LoS. Sucks to be us.
I won’t give you a play by play as there was too much going on. So you’ll get my witty comments instead.
Backfield ruins with objective

Good luck getting to the titan…

Tip of the spear … Black Templars?

But still when we should be concerned about our chances.. it was like some benevolent being was watching over us.

As promised .. The continued APOC battle….
A pain in our …side

Their flyers rush in, then our flyers rush after them…

With good results.

Still need to get that titan.. we managed to take quite a few Hull points off it but just couldn’t bring it down. It manages to pie plate all my Lamenter Units behind the wall. thanks for playing!
Here is a Princeps view of the battle…

So we use the tunnel strategy and throw all sorts of melta gun inf along with some heavy melta drop podded squads at it.

While the fight continues in the ruins over the far objective.

Gits tranquility Autocannon dread surveys the battle from the wall.

Then the Mighty wall which has a electric field for protection, multiple layers 100’s of feet thick of steel and concrete reinforced and laden with guns that which the loyalist had to throw everything it, shells titan weapons, orbital bombardments in an attempt to get at Huron fell to …..

Lone Assault Marine with a Melta bomb..

WTFlagnar. Soon the rush is on when the loyalist play their Statagem.. a large portion of their destroyed units return to the battle.

The inquisition and it’s infernal Death cults rush the opening. Our Flyers move inside the wall to deny them a chance to deploy within our wall.

Last effort to push us off the objective in the back. MW stubborn drop pod refuses to die!

Titan final is destroyed and takes a lot of our inf with it.
They rush the breaches

Thought no other pis of the battle, the loyalist did manage to get in the breach closest to the gate, where Huron and his guard jammed the gap. Fierce fighting ensured and it came down to a final save to determine if Huron would live and secure our main objective.. it was to be so. The game was close at the end. The secessionist won by a mere 2 points.

Very fun game and was always something turning the table back and forth. Understandably we were on the defensive and destoyed way more points than we lost. With the titan out of range of most of out weapons we had little choice but to go after it. It was single handily winning the game. The reemergence of the destroyed loyalist forces made it possible for them to win. They in general started with too many of their forces in the ruins and weren’t able to capitalize on the breaches when the occurred. With all the LR they hard they could have weathered the storm and help reduce the resistance allowing the titan to concentrate more on the wall. We also suffered from several turns where the dice were not cooperating. With all the melta sot we put forth on the titan it took two turn at close range when mathematically it should have gone on the initial drop.

We did do a good job of taking out their flyers as well as keeping units alive in the ruins to threaten the objective. This keep a portion of their troops from getting forward where they could of added their firepower to clear the breaches and wall.

Special note to the lone scout survivor in the creator who fought off a squad od jumppack Raven Guard and lived. You can sse him in the last picture.

I’ll go through my camera and see if I have any more… In the meantime go to Git’s blog and chime in…

My tranquility dread had a really good day. Just about every turn he was taking out a transport, flyer, skimmer or some such. Nice to see him do well... he's usually an "also-ran" in most of the battles I've fielded him.

It was a very fun game. We sacrificed a TON of stuff trying to secure the rearward objective in the city. I thought it was a total waste of points, but in the end it was pivotal... not only because we finally took the objective, but because it made them delay the use of one of their most important gambits unit it was too late (they needed one more turn to be able to breach the right side of our wall in force).

Fantastic stuff Solar. I think we needed some orange striped Tiger Claws in there. Did anyone have any Executioners?

Thanks, I thought that we did a better job of controlling the battle. Naturally Its easier when defending, but our options of deployment was limited and they had multiple options. Deploying so much in the back takes time to get assets to the main objective. Allowing the rear units to get tied up over a low point objective wasn't the best use of their forces; and with the titan adsorbing alot of our firepower I think I would have gone more aggressively. This allowed more of our central forces to concentrate on fewer units. Even with all the LR they took a lot of turns getting to the wall.

Ice,,, Sadly their were no Tiger Claws or Executioners. There were nicely painted Astral Claws and about 70% of the armies were Badab Themed. The Templar's and Raven guard .. we'll it's all in fun.

Good game, The TO ran the Titan so the loyalist could focus on their own armies. The Terrain was great and presented it's own challenges. I think the scenario worked though I thought the wall should be a bit bigger thus presenting a more 'Castle' battle instead of a open field in front of the wall. but in reality it worked as it game down to the final die throw!

I'd definitely do this again.

That wasn't a low point objective. It was worth as much as the objectives behind our wall.

Yup. And it also played a role in our win- The team in back almost forgot it was there. The single drop pod was holding/contesting the objective and prevented them from grabbing more points

Was a very very fun game, though. Absolutely loved playing with you guys. next year I hope he does a similar event. Ill have to try to bring something a little more substantial!

I talked with the TO. He plans at this point to do another event, but probably not Badab War but based on another narrative battle from the IA books.

I was comparing it to Killing Huron which was worth I believe more. Not Objective vs Objective. Sorry I wasn't clear.

Cool doing a Badab event though. It was nice to be able to participate in an event my obscure chapter actually played a role in. Even if it was short lived.

The TO did a great job. And I would definitely look at participating in something he put together.

You can let him know I'd be happy to be on Titan duty. I don't get to use the Warhound very often, I'm sure the Warlord even less so.

I could do without the titan or at least have one on our side.

WM.. You have to have an actual built Warlord to do that! What makes you think you'll have that finished..
