Thanks you guys!! Glad you like the scheme. I basically was inspired by world of warcraft on this one. THe color scheme of the underwater dungeons in the cataclysm are basically these colors!
Im making more progress on the 2nd guy and since hes the boss ive spent a bit more time on him but hes really almost done. Speed painting and clean painting at the same time hopefully. Gotta do his left arm, the standard, some of his back, and some stuff on the staff...
Let me know whatcha guys think!!

Hmmm, I can't think of an eldar rune that depicts water. They tend to be big on their flames.
Maybe a stylised raindrop (like a half ying-yang) in place of the flame on the Yme- Loc craftworld rune? Would look like a randrop falling into a bowl/altar thing

gents thanks! Glad you all are digging em! I think what i will do is do a final once over withthe whole squad and clean up and stray bits....there a big smudge of blue at the bottom of the back side of the crest that needs to be reblended into the gradient. Happened while painting the banner..>_< any ways, yeah im super pleased with the time they are taking to paint and the general outcome.

Is the plan to keep the Guardians, Wraith constructs and vehicles the same scheme, or will they be the teal color? What about other Aspect Warriors besides the Avengers?

yeah good questions. Firstly i need to get the eldar army book so i know what the heck to start buying. I do believe that each aspect warrior willl be a permutation of this *core* theme in some way in related at least. I definitely want them to have seperate color scheme but that relate back to the underwater coral reef kinda thing ive got as a basis. Im thinking striking scorpions will be more aqua / teal / green colors...no pink....i was thinking maybe to do the fire dragons in bronze and bright agua. but im worried that the metallic armor of the fire dragons will be *too much* metal for the rest of this scheme. Guardians most like will mirror the DAs but with almost no pink, just the blue and aqua, with the lime gemstones... vehiciles ill revolve around the core scheme as you see it above as well.
Open to suggestions here im new to painting eldar. EspECIALLY when it comes to building a list

Do you want a competitive or casual list? Fluffy? What kind of point size? Eldar have some very strong builds, depends on what direction you want to go.

Falcons have a 6 troop capacity, but Wave Serpents tend to see more use. The Serpent Shield is rather handy Really looking forward to your Aspect Warriors the colour schemes you've said sound really cool If you're worried about them looking too metallic, perhaps just paint the shoulder pads and faceplate in metallic colours?

Damo: im sure am constantly putzing around, and these are somewhat speed painted so im a bit shy of em since i have to cut corners on things id spend alot more time on usually! Im even using those Citadel Washes everyone is raving about!! I will say, they sure cut down the time on finishing a dude!

Speed painting is my JAM! and people seem to like my stuff so if this is your speed painting i'm going to get very nervous because it's bloody fantastic! washes are indeed your friend, I think I have more washes than anything else in my kit, but remember you can still use a wash made from normal paint to give good effects, usually in conjunction with other actual washes but it's worth a play around with. only thing I find personally difficult is if I use a wash on my troops for a certain colour trying to replicate on large models without the wash streaking is hard.

Lol Damo, the speed painting is relative! I've only got 5 of these guys to do at a time! I picked eldar for that reason! I don't have to paint the same scheme on a ton of guys! I just am no good at maintaining that consistency for that long. You are one of the best at that, and your prolific work is proof. You can paint the hell out of 30 guys in the time it takes me to do 3! It's just a different focus!! As for washes with normal paint, this I prefer and have used a lot over the years, but in the case here, I'm just get down a smooth base of telcis blue, then smother them with blue wash, no cares at all. Thick. Over the top. The hard work is blending that back to is base coat in not too long. Everything else is dessert because it's fun to paint.
I totally hear you about the vehicles, once I get these 5 done I'm going to paint a wave serpent and I have no idea what to do with it. Definitely not going to be using any washes....most likely glazes again. I don't mind taking time on the vehicles since I don't have so many to do in the long run!

Thanks Dr H!
Inevitably what happens is i get bogged down. Each mini takes just a bit longer because in my need to copy exactly the last miniature, I end up getting clogged up with over detailing army troops. Ok, so sue me Ive got number 4 up and running with an almost finished armors, back and a couple side spots...obvious areas haven't been started yet. Also some touch ups around gems are necessary, but Im thouroghly enjoying painting these guys i must say. Also bought the eldar book today so time to start thinking about building a list! Any thoughts on that fellas??
Cheers!!

Looking great this is going to be a stunning looking army
As for list building, it's pretty tricky to make something that isn't good from the Eldar codex. They're blessed by having the majority of their units as eminently usable. Means you can pretty much pick the models that you like the look of and end up with a half-decent army at the end of it how 40k should be!
Two MSU 5-man squads of Avengers is a good start, and a Farseer is a very solid pick for HQ.
As for mucking about with colour schemes, I'd love to see what you'd come up with for Fire Dragons (scale pattern maybe?) and Dark Reapers following this scheme

#4 is looking fantastic. Can't wait to see a group shot when you're done a unit.
I'll echo what Ynneadwraith says and add this: the cloudstrike rule for running a unit of three falcon grav tanks is amazing with these guys. The tanks get no-scatter deepstrike so you can deposit your relatively short-ranged troops where they need to be. Take the DA's as the DA shrine formation for more bonuses and put them all together as a very scary deepstrike option. Mind you it is a hefty buy-in for them (15 DA minimum and 3 falcons to run this way). Barring that running squads of DAs in a transport works very well, go MSU as Ynnead said or you can do 10-man units to shoot things very very dead.

That sounds like a good plan for a nasty DS force.
You could vary it up a little troops-wise by taking an Aspect Shrine rather than a Dire Avengers Shrine. 3x squads of Aspect Warriors ( DAs included) and you can pick a blanket +1WS or +1BS for the whole formation to receive. BS5 Fire Dragons are the things of nightmares, and your Dire Avengers get killier too

Thank you guys for the input! I fo quite like the idea of three falcons filled with my precious DAs! sounds so slicey and dicey. As far as upcoming paint schemes....Im taking it one step at a time. Im thinking the next set of guys i do will be a unit of swooping hawks. The tio of colors willl be be small details and the greys will take the forefront of armor colors. The wings will be dazzling. The more i begin to see the whole army in front of me the more ill know where to go with other units i havent made my mind up with yet. I will at least have 20 DAs painted up as a base but ill do 5 at a time broken up by other units. And Vehicles. A Falcon is my next project just as soon as i finish the 5th of this 5 man squad. And speaking of, i have just finished the 4th! Quite pleased with the uniformity here Ill show just him so as not to ruin the fun of the completed 5 man squad! Heres some solo shots of the finished miniature.
Thanks for lurking and commenting and whatever else youre doing on my blog <_< lol
