I agree that the skeletal theme is a total win for the Lasher.

The shrine looks really good, especially like the skulls in the blood.

This sucks! I am so tied up in work that I miss the return of one of my favourite hobbyists

Massively glad to see you're back, buddy, and it seems you're on a roll too! The Lasherfiend was cool before, but it's really fantastic now. Love the use of the Lord of Skulls armour plates! And I am so glad you went with the Hades Autocannons after all!

You remain one of the masters of kitbashing huge and scary chaos stuff. Terrific!

EDIT: Come to think of it, I would maybe consider rotating the left cannon slightly outwards, like so:

It's a terrible hack job of a mockup, I admit, but I hope it serves to illustrate my point. I think it would make the pose look even more agressive and dynamic, plus it would be cool to have the Fiend look along the barrel of the gun.

Glad to be back buddy. Have to admit your log has been a major inspiration. I have bits of a Centurion on its way to me as we speak so hopefully soon I can have a go at making my own Behemoths

I have tried to angle the Hades in that direction but the way the socket is angled is proving difficult. Ill see what I can do though.

In other news I wanted to give the new Centurion kit the benefit of the doubt as when I first saw it I was appalled, it has to be one of the worst looking kits Id seen bit after seeing what other hobbyists are doing Krautscientist et al and seeing the sprues etc I think there may be potential for some Obliterator conversions. Not wanting to spend a fortune buying the kit and hating it I ordered a few bits to mess around with. The legs arrived today and IMHO are the worst part of the kit, I want to see if I can make them a little more dynamic, not a massive change and it does seem to be my 'go to' pose but I tried to make it look like it was charging but the results were 'meh'

Here's what I've got, I didn't get the 50mm base with the legs so its on a 40mm at the moment. It will need a bigger base though I think.

I still have to wait for the torso/arms to arrive from another bits site.

Changed the legs on Varrus Kinslayer, I'm thinking this is a little more Kharn like now.

I love the eye lenses on lasherfiend... definitely even better than before. It is a shame you can't get that arm to point though, I agree with Krautscientist... The only thing I can maybe suggest is to stop trying to fit the wrist joint into the socket on the side, instead cover the socket and affix kind of rotator/joint to the top of the gun instead, I'm thinking perhaps a havoc launcher bit or a tank hatch bit? In any case it still looks awesome and the coolness of the guns makes up for it if the posing is a bit awkward.

Thanks folks,
Meade, I'm gonna try cutting some of the socket away and pinning the arm in. That should give me greater range of movement and the armour plate will cover the botch job. I need to find bits to show some ammo hoppers or belt fed ammo as I hate the fluff behind the Maulerfiend making its own ammo. Any suggestions? Ideas?

hmm... well, I actually have the bit from puppet's war assault cannons, it's like a cylinder drum shape but it shows some nice big shells inside of it. I'd have to do a mock-up to show you later but it actually looks cool on the gun? just an idea. For the ammo ejection you could have a rectangle shape on the bottom of the gun perhaps.

I mean looking at the actual bit it's hard to imagine where this manufactured ammo even feeds into the gun? all the barrels seem to be half blocked at the back end. I also get irked about these things... sometimes it's best not to think about it

Yeah you're right, it's just like the mind powered bikes again lol. I just think it could look pretty cool with some nasty chain fed ammo bouncing about. I look forward to seeing how those Puppets bits look.

Loving the work you're doing keep it up, I like the way you've positioned the Centurion legs much better imo than the stock ones!

here this is what I'm talking about... it takes some creative patching up to install that on there (you would have to cover up a few holes) but to me that looks pretty cool. I bought the package of six miniguns to install on my bigger daemon engines... not a bad deal.

if you go chain fed ammo it's more realistic, because honestly, the only reason you need so many barrels is a fast rate of fire... so such a weapon would run out of ammo really fast. Not sure where you would find that big of an ammo belt though

That does look pretty cool and I hear you on the chain fed. Ill keep looking around. Cheers for the pics mate.

I got a few more bits in the mail today so built the Obliterator test models torso. Obviously all the Imperial icons will be removed but wanted to show where I'm at, just waiting on the arms arriving now.

Lasher Fiend looks great, and I'm excited to see someone try reposing the Centurions and using them for Obliterators. Good luck!

I'm gonna be honest, when I first saw the Centurions, I thought they were the stupidest thing GW had ever cacked out.

But these...these look great. You have made me like tghe Centurions. Fantastic stuff!

Anvildude, I'm not sure what I'm gonna put in the chest yet, might just stick with the bolters. I'm going to try and shoulder mount the main weapons though so one will be armed with auto cannon, one with a lascannon etc and in the chest I may add Flamers and plasma/melta guns so just the barrels are showing. Hopefully it won't look too madonna-ish.

Pekel, thanks for looking buddy.

Squigsquasher, thanks buddy but Krautscientist is the guy that opened my eyes to the possibilities with this kit.

Loving the work on the new SM suits. Are they easy enough to pose?

Was just thinking that the skull part from the Khemrian Necrosphinx might look good on the lasher fiend being set back into that hatch/neck piece.

Spoiler:

I do like the current one a lot though. I think that big skull would be well suited on a multi limbed mechanical monstrosity with those whips flailing in the background.

Yeah I had that head, the head that's on it just now is the alternate from that kit. My original plan was to build two, one with the current head as a Mauler and the other armed with all of the Forgefiends weapons using the more human skull. For the moment I think the build as is should cover both roles until I get the bits together. Or I may just leave it alone........yeah that's never gonna happen. I've always got to interfere with things

Not much of an update as the bits have just arrived and I have to run out the door to work now but this should give people a rough idea of how I'm planning on doing these.

Thanks buddy.

So this happened today. I bought it from a guy at my games club for a really good price especially since its still new on sprue. The possibilities for this are getting me really excited I knew it was going to be corrupted so my first port of call was to Machinator for some of his awesome Oppressor pattern treads. Once they wing their way across the pond ill start the basic build. I've also had a few ideas for either redoing my Blood Stalker or converting another to build a 'Soul Grinder' counts as. This is all while finishing of my Fiend and working on more Obliterators. I like to have a few projects in my head at once. Getting time to work on them all is another matter though. :( Fingers crossed though.

That tank is ripe for chaos! Liking the way your contemptor conversion is coming along. The flamethrowers out of his chest are awesome. I'm not sure whats really going on with his chain fist. It may just be the picture. Excited to see him progress and see what you do with the stormlord/shadowsword.

I like the pose on the centurion conversion a lot. Really helps redeem the model. At least, helps.

Will you be tinkering with the armor plates at all? I'm seeing a lot of very smooth surface, which somehow doesn't seem particularly Khorne-ate.

edit: I should add, I freakin' LOVE the lasher-fiends so far.

Whoa, I can't believe I forgot to comment on the newest developments here! Shame on me

Anyway, the updates Varrus looks like a heap of bad news, which I think is par for the course for a Kharn stand in Great work!

That Obliterator/Centurion is getting better all the time, buddy! I might like it even better than my own The interesting part will be to see what you do to make it look less loyalist and more chaotic!

Both the chainblade on the back of the hand and the chest mounted flamers are brilliantly inspired ideas, and I will certainly nick them for my next conversions!

So far, I have never managed to get excited over a tank model, but I suppose if anyone could make me like a 40k tank, it would have to be you, so go for it!
