I post the completed pics here on Dakka due to popular demand, (and the nifty auto-fix option) but my WIPs are usually quicker just to upload to photobucket.

Hah! Nah, my IG army has been in progress since 2000. I started with Valhallans, but I recently decided I also wanted a squad of each of the metal models. Or at least the Praetorians and Mordians. I think the Tallarn would look out of place with the winter soldiers. And then I'm getting a squad of Squats to round it out. I also have a penal squad made up of Necromunda figures and a couple of old Rogue Trader mercs led by the new Arbites leader model. Painting them has never really gotten off the ground. I jsut can't sit down and do one thing long enough to finish anything. Not to mention that I now wnat to strip and repaint all my old models. Or... maybe just rebase them. I did manage to get 30 models painted up and they would disappear into the sea of troopers pretty well I think...

Thanks Valhalla! - I've got a few old Mordians, Tallarns, Steel Legion and Valhallans (you can still buy them all from GW Specialist games part of the website btw), but I never got any Praetorians or Vostroyans in metal. Like you, I just wanted a squad or at least one of each pose.

Oh, yeah.. I had a squad of Steel Legion that was stolen from me. I'd like to replace them too. So... add that squad in too. lol

You would think Vostroyans would fit right in, but I really don't like them. Although... originally I didn't like Mordians and now i think they're super neat.

I never finished painting my Steel Legion because I never found the heavy bolter or lascannon teams for some reason. I got a few Missile Launcher teams, but never found the other HW teams.

And now onto my favorite subject..TOOLS
specifically, the infamous $8 airbrush

It has a nice heft to it, at first I was afraid the action was a bit clunky, but it turns out it just needed broken down, disassembled and set-up properly.
It's a high quality machined aluminum, not cast pot metal like one moronic internet reviewer wrote. I'm also surprised at the high quality of the Chrome plating, inside and out.

The color cup is rounded on the bottom, not beveled, and not flat, so paint should flow nicely in theory

The needle protector is nice and deep, so there shouldn't be any real chance of bending the needle accidentally when working or when backflushing the tool while cleaning.

Another feature, that is much different than my Badger Airbrushes, is the brass nozzle. On my Badgers, this is not threaded at all, it is just friction-mounted. On this brush, everything else is tool-less except the nozzle, it uses this funny-looking wrench.

Here you can see the spray regulator housing is universal for all 3 needle/nozzle sizes that fit this airbrush. This is the .3mm needle/nozzle tip, it also supports a smaller .2mm, and a larger .5mm needle/nozzle combo if so desired.

This little set screw on the bottom fits into a groove in the spring assembly to help you tighten the spring tension. On my Badger brushes, this feature is another knurled adjuster ring on the spring assembly itself. Not wrong, just different
Now I am anxious to try spraying, it has definitely exceeded my expectations so far.

Its a great little workhorse, did crumble and die after a year of frequent use though.

At $8, I think I'm ok with that
What do you mean crumble and die? What broke?
I ruin at least one Badger needle a month myself, I couldn't imagine one needle lasting a whole year.
At this price, I could easily buy a bunch of them, teach a class or something, and give an AB to every student, or just give it to someone to learn with or get started airbrushing. There is a lot of general airbrush advice out there on the web, in books and magazines, but I'd say 90% of it is irrelevant to hobbyists lie us. We waste so much time reading about single action, external mix, siphon feed, etc. That crap is useless for our scale. Hobbyists are going to be dissapointed and frustrated if they spend $100+ on something that is unusable. Double action, gravity feed, needle limiter are the most useful features for our hobby, everything else is just noise we don't need or want.

I couldnt work it out, it was puzzling, just gave up the ghost one day. I think its to be expected eventually with a cheap airbrush though.

It served me damn well though, painted my titan with that little sucker

I love titans, but I could only own a Warlord titan, and that would be much too big. I do plan to buy the Epic model of it one day though.
