Aye, I can easily do the tags my own way (as opposed to Dave, I did do a lot of wall cleaning in my youth due to tagging those walls first and being caught) but I thyink its cooler to keep the style the same, so as to make sure that whoever finds my stuff on the net, or daves, twenty years from now, will know ah... that was the league...

I have the pics saved already aye, and will work from there, but you know, having them in front of me on paper would have helped. I'll go about the difficult way now...

Thank you again for inspiring me Dave!!

Rusty and dirty... Still needs more dirty?

Here's a fun idea - pick a small scale model of a famous building (crysler, empirestate etc) and make it post apocalyptic. Rust, ruination - plant life. We could have a competition. I actually have no idea if anywhere makes scale models of skyscrapers but probably!!

P.S. I'm drunk.

actually it is the mortar ... somehow i would have loved to see more definition on this... i likie as siad earlier the sooty look of the bricks... but the aestheticsof brickwork is for me in the contrast between mortar and brick color... here in the berlin surrounding area...called brandenburg you see a lot of the yellow/sandy brickwork... so i am fine with the yellow bricks... just more mortarlines^^ and i´d be a happy nerd

first two buildings look good... third not so... of course crappy CGI...

with trying to think big or far away you are referring to the optical illusion, right? well indeed the models are much more detailed i think than an actual view could see in detail if he would look at stuff from a scale relative point of view... but well we always opt for the rule of cool...

by the way... MY favorite brick color is still red.... with possibly white/grey mortar lines... that really makes me jiggy^^... also that gives you the excuse to add mossy green patches...

I spent a lot of time looking at buildings IRL, the Urban Explorer sites are always full of inspiration like this. You don't need a lot of imagination, just a reference photo or two and the right materials.

Why are the bottom bricks red? It makes it look like the top bricks were painted. Lol

Nope. Around here (Columbus, Georgia) there is nothing but red brick. Maybe some purple or different shades of red, and sometimes almost white when they get that white clay (but that's like one brick out of a thousand in the home.)

We actually have some brick makers aroudn here so all of ours are local. And very red. Nothing but good Georgia clay used around these parts.

And by that I just meant I'm not used to seeing other color bricks, not that they don't exist. And still, your building is excellent and I would be happy to have one of my own on the table. Which I may now that I see how it's done.

Just for some examples of what I see almost everyday here in good old Columbus, GA:

And this is a brick kiln from our historic district in Heritage Park (which is a small plot about 500 x 500 feet or so and is supposed to pay tribute to our cotton mills, steel mills and brick industries.) This is just to show how big brick-making was here at one time. All our mills were made from the same brick too. I need to go tomorrow and take some pics of these places.

While looking for this, I ran into a great site that had some crumbling buildings from rural Georgia, and thought you might like to add these to your collection.

Then there was this gem, which is apparently an historic building and just a delightful color.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
And not all of those are crumbling buildings. At least one of them is a building currently in use, but is jsut of the kind of brick I wanted to show. Also, the green brick, and white brick building next to it were painted. A lot of older buildings around here used to be. When they all were the same color, people painted them to make them stand out. So now a lot of them are crumbling, with peeling paint coming off in large swatches.

It's a really nice building, my favourite parts by far are the window panes, they look really excellent. The broken glass technique is something I have thought of doing, but the opaque/dirty panes is not something I had thought of and really adds a lot of character. The pipe work is also really great.

I think the building looks like it was painted yellow as opposed to being made out of yellow brick. I don't think bricks exists in a vibrant yellow like that (except in the Wizard of Oz) but the grimy, dirty paint look is really good and suitable for the underhive.

I am really not keen on buildings in the underhive being made from red brick as it ties very strongly to a specific era and style of architecture, especially with those window and door frames so I am glad you didn't do that.

My only criticism is that this looks like more of a show piece than a gaming piece, I know you don't play much so it doesn't matter maybe, but really you want as many walkways (or places walkways can connect to), collapsed walls etc as possible. This building is really just a giant LOS blocker.

PS. I used that same door recent and someone in my gallery commented that the models looked out of scale next to it. I think it's partially scale creep, Necro models are now so tiny, that door is over twice their height!

Thanks guys! It is a show piece...I needed to build the kit for an IPMS-USA review, so I made something out of it. There will be more walkways than you can shake your stub pistol at
LDD's requested scale shots

These aren't CoD panels that is for sure. ALL PARTS need beveled, sanded, lined-up, sanded again, glued off, cussed at, then sanded again
..But this is gonna be cool!

My Underhive is going to be unique. I've already done all the classics, and now I'm doing brick. I'm sorry if you don't like it. There will be dirty bricks of every color. A recent dome collapse uncovered this older hab dome with these brick buildings in it, preserved for Millennia.

As long as the whole city becomes somewhat of a show piece they should be fine with it.

I'd say maybe pick a small palette of brick colours and stick to it though. Probably were already doing that.

Thanks for the scale shot Dave not bad match really

As for guidelines of what is right and wrong, it is 40k anything is possible as everything is born from the ridiculous the first place .

Like the early detailing as well, although if it was me I would be tempted to remove the window frames, they look a bit wrong and after what I just said sounds hypocritical
