A long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away...

That sounds like the next terrain competition to me

Must do some rivet work soon and get my name on the wall !!

Building is looking (and this word often gets overused - but not in this case) A-W-E-S-O-M-E and to think, you're not finished yet? wow...

Oh Wow, Thanks a lot guys! -you keep me going.

I appreciate the thought, but don't start anything up just yet. The League names will need to spread out to the surrounding buildings! (yet to be built)-The vandals would surely branch out from this one building.. So I will save the last few names I have not yet tagged on this building.

Don't worry guys, coming soon! Stay tuned.
(I just want to be done with this model for now)
so I am going to make a few final touches and set up for pics for the IPMS-USA review.

Wow! Awesome work! I just love this building. Been a while since I last popped in and what a treat! I've voted on all the images, I'm a bit sad I've been so busy elsewhere that I didn't see the project as it was being done and therefore missed out on a Graffiti tribute but it is very cool none the less! Can't wait to see your next one!

This is the site for the DPM module parts, in O Scale. You should also consider looking at their full building kits, also available on the site:

http://woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/show/category/OScaleModular?tsort=default&perPage=1900&view=grid

Now, you can probably find them cheaper online, from other sellers. But this gives everyone an idea what's available.

Say, dave... any chance you can scan in your graffiti doodles so i can copy them exactly? I love the idea of an american scenery piece with the league on it, and a european piece (mine) too...
Although over here they will be scattered about seven or so shanty-town pieces. The idea as is I will most certainly steal anyways... but if i can get the names in about the same style it'll have been the same darn kids tagging the gak out of everythin...

Yeah, it really isn't a scan, but it's a pic of the paper.-It should be a few pages back (I can't get to my photobucket from work) I just searched google Images for graffiti, found various lettering styles that I liked, and then started doodling with a pencil. Once I was happy with the sketch, I just outlined and filled in with a Sharpie. Once you can do it on paper, it's easy to do on a brick wall. Some (like yours Maus), I decided to do differently on the wall.

Check out my reference pics gallery http://www.dakkadakka.com/core/gallery-search.jsp?p=1&u=48594&g=27109&ll=3&auction=0&unapproved=0&coolnesslow=0&coolnesshigh=10&paintjoblow=0&paintjobhigh=10&sort1=7&sort2=0&skip=30&en=&st=&utype=&start=0

Thanks LDD! But I'd recommend the Woodland Scenics DPM panels before I'd recommend vacu-formed stuff, much easier to work with. you absolutely NEED a tube of putty, not greenstuff, not Liquid Green Stuff, but Putty, plain, old modeling putty to work with Vacu-formed kits. Not for the faint of heart.

Ruglud wrote:

Thank you! You won't find many building kits under 1:48, this kit is actually 1:35 scale, figures in 1:35 are more Inquisitor size (54mm). I changed the scale of this kit only because the bricks matched The O scale brick sheets I had, and I had to be careful to remove or omit any kit parts that could possibly be "scalebusters", replacing them with recognizable bits or scratchbuilding others (such as the windows). Search under model railroading stuff in O scale too. You'll find lots.

no, I don't have the same motivation when it comes to painting miniatures unfortunately..I should really be doing that huh?

Well, that is the point of doing this here on Dakka, so everyone can see how easy it is to do and step up their own terrain-building efforts....Then it CAN happen.

Yes, Brian is correct! - In O scale, you'll find the individual bags of panels for $8-9 each. The full building kits are marginally a better value

I spent a lot of time looking at buildings IRL, the Urban Explorer sites are always full of inspiration like this. You don't need a lot of imagination, just a reference photo or two and the right materials.
