Question, are you going to make flight stand bases? I'd hate to have such nice bases for my models only to have my flyer bases look like crap.

Dam thats amazing delivery time, I ordered from FW 1 hour drive down the road took 7 working days ? go figure 4 days to the states great products and great service Joel did you take it yourself

I just got my Tox Troopers in. They're amazing, I think over all of the 22 I ordered I pulled off 4 pieces of super thin flash smaller than an eraser on a pencil.

After this order I'm going to begin slowly swapping out my CSM for more Anvil minis.

Now if you only did tanks....

3 of the legs are from the Crowmantians, 2 are new, everything else on the mini's is new sculpture (waist up: pouches, arms, armour, etc). It's maybe just the grey procreate that looks like resin.

Seriously, everything I order from Anvil comes from the UK to the West Coast super-fast and is excellent condition. Add in that it's different but not so different it doesn't work in GW or PP games, the incredibly quality of the casts, and in the rare cases of issues, the team's superb service?

they're like the mirror universe version of certain Popular Workshops.

That Turbaned Leader-figure looks amazing. Greatly proportioned and a unique head that doesn't exist anywhere else. I love it.

Any chance of making a Tribal Superleader with one of those gigantic Turkish/Ottoman Onion Hat/Turbans?

The Desert Insurgents are looking superb. As with Anvil's work, IceSword, I can really see improvements in your sculpting as you go along, even month by month. The flow and folds of the clothing is particularly good on the Desert guys, and approaches the quality that I still consider the gold standard (the robed Dark Angel vets by GW).

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

@Livanbard - yes photos please!

@newabortion - Id like to add flight bases but its not going to happen any time soon I'm afraid, too much on my plate already! Sorry

@LDD - Id certainly like to hand delivery some products to the USA, sounds like a great excuse for a holiday!

@Koereg - If only we did tanks.. If I was planning a dozen different armoured vehicles, it would be too early to give further details at this stage!

@deadairis - Thanks very much!! Your feedback and praise is greatly appreciated

@Manus - Yes I know the robed cyborg legs right? They are still planned!

Yes indeed new toys -

I posted this up on the Anvil Facebook Page yesterday - I now have a new computer, a Wacom Tablet and ZBrush, a top end digital sculpting program. Once Ive learned to use it all, I will be able to create and render absolutely anything I can imagine!

Anvil Industry will be moving to almost entirely digital sculpting, which is very exciting!

Ive attached an Exo-Lord scale Gladius which Im doing for the Black Ops command team.

Cheers,

Joel

I hate Joel so much. He's about to cost me another $100 in bitz......Oh well, it's smaller than the last few orders....That's good right?

(Seriously, best consistancy, price, and delivery time as well as cleanest bits vs. anybody else out there right now)

Hey Everyone,

@Newabortion - Thanks! It looks great, Ill definatly include it in the Black Ops Command squad.

@Hulksmash - Thanks very much! We do our best and I'm very sorry for compelling you to spend even more money on our stuff!

----------------

So I started off earlier modifying a Widow Maker to include a silencer for the Black Ops Command Team, and ended up designing an entirely new "family" of rifle and pistol. Based on a loose mash-up of the MP5SD, G36K and M4.

Hope you guys like it!

Im holding a "name it and win it" competition over on the Facebook Page - a great way to keep up to date with all my design work and planned releases.

Cheers,

Joel

First off, amazing looking rifle. second of all I get free wrist blades now right?

my submission

The Penetrator CMAR compact modular assault rifle. Originally designed for sub-space ship boarding actions the sub sonic ammunition coupled with the hi-vitol barrel and piston system proved to be so silent and reliable that it was quickly adopted by many Special operation detachments (SODs). The Penetrator CMAR excels in its specialist design as a lightweight silenced CQB rifle. Every feature of the rifle was designed for its intended use as a Marine Boarding weapon, the sub sonic ammunition it fires has duel purposes, to aid in the dampining of the sound projected from the rifle and to no be as effective at piercing armor plate. The hi-vitol barrel greatly reduces noise levels while maintaining low weight and acheiving greater muzzle velocity. The gas piston system improves reliability although coupled with the vitol barrel makes it difficult to change calibers mid combat. The light weight of the rifle was demanded as it is often coupled with boarding riot shields and is often carried with one hand.

Oh damn that looks nice! This new increase in 3D modelling from Anvil is very promising simply because I know that the final product will turn out to look just like the render. (I am playing around with the new autocannons right now!)

I have to say... These Black Ops guys are the best looking miniatures for this kind of genre I've seen in a LONG time. Sure, that "other company" makes some sexy plastic, but they're plagued with shoddy customer service, organ-sellingly high price points, and an inability to "cross gaming lines." You know what "those other miniatures" are the moment you see them. There's just no question. Anvil's Black Ops troops could be anything you want, with or without conversions!

I'm in for a fireteam as soon as I finish moving (I depart sunny Hawaii in August, relocating in not-quite-as-sunny Maryland for the final tour in my Army career), and frankly I'm having trouble waiting!!! I want 'em NOW!!!

Joel,

I see that family of weapons as the "Terror" due to that amazing silencer unit and the phrase "Fear shouts, Terror whispers."

This does also mean you have to design a heavy weapon called the "Fear" though. Sorry about that.

@Newabortion - Thanks, Im sticking an edited version of that in the product description regardless of who wins the naming comp!
The wrist blades will be on the command sprue at least initially, but Ill send you some of the new guns for free if you remind me with your next order!

@LDD and FlameKebab- Im not generally doing exact copies - the proportions need to be different for a start, but I might do a similar "High tech" rifle for the regiments guys.

@Commander Cain - What else would it look like except the render??

@Commissar Stone - Thanks very much! Im glad you like them! Ive got the command team to do, and probably some smaller veteran and sniper squads at some point.

@Conrad - Thanks for the suggestions!

Cheers

Joel

Hey Joel, glad you like the fluff for the rifle, I would've fleshed it out ALOT more but the wife was hounding me about getting ready to goto the grocery store.

Anyways since you liked it I wrote a little fluff on your widdow maker

Anvil industries began development of the MBR12 Widow Maker in 302.4 M41 after it became obvious that new evolving tactical doctrine demanded a more mobile and flexible solid round rifle that could change and adapt to suit the needs of any theater of war without being a logistical burden on frontline combatants. The ageing MPCR Exorcist had been in service for well over a century and although it fires a larger caliber than the MBR12 the added weight and unreliability became an apparent trade off many commanders and frontline troops were no longer willing to make. From the mile-high sand dunes of I-Tolow’s moons to the volcanic ash wastes of Hedjskr the MBR12 today can been seen in every theater of war that our troops are engaged in. Although newer variants of the rifle have been developed since the initial design to add rail integrated systems and more modular ability one thing hasn’t changed, it still lives up to its name.

-MBR12 (Main battle rifle v.12)
-MPCR (Mass produced combat rifle)

And another for the Heretic

The SAAGL Heretic rifle received its name from the original colony that produced it. The loyalist troops engaging ECs in the planets many mile of mineing tunnels needed a large caliber crew served automatic weapon that could puncture light to medium armor and needed to have the ability to airburst to fire over barricades and eliminate the ECs behind them. What was designed for them is what we now know as the SAAGL Heretic. The Heretic is a semi-automatic, bust, and fully automatic 40mm grenade launcher. The design allows for easy access to the large bore barrel to allow changing of overheated barrels and has the added benefit of exposing more air to the barrel to add in heat reduction. The weapon is light enough to be carried by and individual soldier but is belt fed to allow another team member to speed feed ammunition during a firefight if need be. The Heretic also has a tripod to turn the rifle from a single soldier weapon system to a truly crew served BOF nightmare for any heretic unfortunate enough to have one aimed at them.

-SAAGL (Single action automatic grenade launcher)
-EC (Enemy combatants)
-BOF (Base of fire)

Hey,

@Newabortion - Thanks for the fluff! I like it, Ill see about including some of it in the product listings!

@Alanmckenzie - Im doing a two man sniper team - sniper with Negotiator, and Spotter, no photos yet but Ill get a WIP up tommorow. Im afraid there is only one pose so not really an option for making a whole team of them. They are not "scout" type troops, just some experimental one peice models I want to try out.

In general coming up soon -

Black Ops - Sniper team, Veteran Team, Command Team, Captain.

Regiments - Various arms and some new combined torso/arm bits, plus some heads and legs hopefully!

No specific ETA's on any of this.

Does any one have any requests for new bits or products? Throw suggestions at me and Ill see what I can do!!

Cheers,

Joel

Well, if you're taking suggestions...

-Riot helmet with face shield styled helmet for Exo Lords
-Legs with segmented armor (tech marine style is what I have in mind)
-arms with bulkier forearm guards
- torso & head combo with a hazmat motif (goggle type lenses on helmet, hose rather than grille on helmet connecting to torso)
-servo arms/backpack
-torso with reinforced armor, basically something along the lines of boarding armor

A better looking riot shield for space ship boarding actions

I'd also like some kind of armor that could go with it, could count as terminator armor or boarding armor. the Army EOD armor would look great.

You could use your squad leader torso from the Alpha Strike squad with the neck armor and put a few more arm poses on it and plop on a new helmet and BOOM (pun not intended.)

Hey Joel , can't get enough of those Black Ops guys , they turn out so well !

Was minutes away from putting in another order but will wait to see the new additions if they come soon ???

I'd like to see: a Black Ops vehicle crew for something like the Airfix 1:48 scale Supacat Jackal.
A Black Ops "Scout" prone Sniper pair, one shooting one spotting.
A forward pistol grip with the hand moulded on.

Other than that its all great !

I hope this isn't read as a shameless plug, I'm associated with Anvil obviously but I'm also a customer in many respects. In return for my sculpts I get a decent amount of casts for personal use, so sculpts are my currency.

On Wednesday/Thursday I emailed Joel asking for some of the MOTN stuff, I was a bit behind in requesting casts and naturally paying customers come first in terms of orders. Safe to say it was in the order of 70 miniatures I requested.

With ruthless efficiency on Anvil's part I'm now on the Saturday morning holding the product in my hands. The casts are probably some of the best in the business and I don't say that lightly.

The heaps of praise Joel gets is extremely well deserved. As a sculptor I can tell you Joel is a hard but fair task master in ensuring quality, because he puts his customers at the forefront of everything he does.

So all in all credit where it's due to Anvil “Ruthless Efficiency” Industry.

Thanks Joel (p.s. I forgot to ask for some Tox Flame Troopers hehe)

I just had a thought that would make me, and lots of other people happy, and probably make you a whole boatload of money (which is always a good thing )
Female Exo Lords. Slightly smaller and sleeker than the Exo Lords.
Exo Ladies if you will.
A force of questing nuns maybe, with a penchant for fire.
I think combined with the rest of your range it could make something amazing.

Hmm, if you are going to make female characters, please don't make their armour look more feminine, and please...no breast armour!!!

It's nice to see you're slowly moving away from copying GW and into your own territory (with the background and such), so please continue that development.

As for bits/products, here are my suggestions:
  • mounted hologram projector: kind of like this.

  • Corpses: dead Exo Lords in various types of armour and poses.

  • Small drones: I'd imagine the Exo Lords could use various types of drones to scout ahead. Some could be flying, others crawling, etc.

  • Fancy commander kits: You're Exo Lords need a leader figure, but a model that's truly inspiring, so more detail, a heroic pose, extra bits, etc.
