Hiding in a dark alley with a sharp knife!

I actually had a first yesterday. An Ebay seller sent me a PM complaining about a POSITIVE FEEDBACK that I left him. Honestly!

Ok, here is the set up.
I've always rolled my eyes at the over the top hyperbole filled feedback that many Ebay users leave. You know the sort I'm talking about. "BEST EBAYER EVER!!!11! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!11!! AAAA+++++"" for a simple Ebay store purchase. That sort of thing. So as a quiet counter to this for years now I've been leaving the exact same feedback message for every Ebay transaction I make: "I'm satisfied with this transaction..." It's short, to the point, and 100% factual. I've literally left this message hundreds of times.

Well yesterday out of the blue I get a profanity laced PM from a seller taking me to task for the positive feedback message I left him. I won't reproduce it here for obvious reasons. Apparently the seller was upset at my lack of "conviction or "passion" in my positive feedback message and was afraid that people might incorrectly take it as some sort of "code" that I had had some sort of diffiulty with the transaction.

Really?

I sent him back a message asking him to open up my feedback profile, click on "feedback left for others", and start counting.

You simply can't please some people.

How dare you not use multiple exclamation points!!!?!?!

Did you report him to ebay for a rude message? I mean you could be a 14 year old kid and him ripping some random internet stranger is a bit unruly and kind of sick...

Oh wow, makes me feel a little more thankful now that I haven't drawn anyone's ire. Here lately I've been feeling the same as you and I've just been leaving pretty much the exact same message every time: "Thanks!" Maybe in my case it's okay though because I left an exclamation point.

What pisses me off is when I don't get any feedback in return. With the exception of one or two rare issues (one time my old computer died when I won an auction or two, and I forgot about it until I got my new computer and noticed I'd gotten a message from the seller reminding me to pay for my stuff ), I'm usually pretty prompt with payment. Now and then an auction will end while I'm at work but otherwise I usually pay almost immediately, which in my mind means I should get pretty prompt (and positive) feedback in return, since I've done my part and did it well. But no, more often than not I'll see after I've paid for an item I don't get feedback until after I've left positive feedback for them, and in some cases I don't get feedback at all even though they got their money near instantly and I left them a positive.

Anyway, this isn't really a "folly", I just thought it was kind of interesting. http://www.ebay.com/itm/350713336318?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1426.l2649 These are the now OOP metal incubi, 5 models still in a box, untouched. Check that gak out, $56 at the time of typing this, not including shipping. You can still get the same sculpts now for considerably less (or at least until this year's price increase), but in Finecast. I just think it's great that people hate Finecast that much that they're willing to pay even more than current retail just to get the same models in metal, without having to worry about the quality of the casts. It just goes to show you how awful Finecast really is, and in my opinion it's also proof that price isn't always the issue when people "hate" on GW. Clearly whoever is winning this auction (sadly not me, my max was $50 ) isn't interested in getting "free models", they just really want some badass sculpts at an acceptable level of quality, and you can't get that from GW anymore.

This could be the case but sometimes if I have a unit of metal models, I don't want to mix in Finecast or even plastic ones. Probably just an OCD thing but I'd pay a little more the ensure everything is the same material so they feel the same.

I nominate http://www.ebay.com/itm/WARHAMMER-FORGE-WORLD-40K-IMPERIAL-GUARD-WISEMANS-BANEBLADE-SUPER-HEAVY-PAINTED-/261168799604?pt=Games_US&hash=item3ccedf9f74 . Sure, it's decently painted, but most people looking for the OOP Baneblade (new in box value about $150) are probably going to throw it straight into the paint stripper. And this is the second time it's been up, the first time it failed to sell, and the owner re-posted it with a $300 buy it now, followed soon after by a return to $379 (I guess they couldn't stand the thought of selling for a mere twice its value). But the best part is the description:

The value in paint work alone is over $350 dollars US. The labor for assembly, the various parts kits and base model are all additive.

The value of this full aution, labor includeded exceeds $1,000 USD.

It might not be a record for most over-valued model ever, but it sure comes close...

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

I always did like the FW baneblade more than the plastic one. It looks a lot better without so many rivets, and if I'm not mistaken the gun even looks a lot larger. But yeah, someone's overvaluing that model quite a bit.

I like the army actually. It's themed, you can actually see the different characters. It's alright. The price. Err.. No. I wouldn't even pay a tenth of the asking price. But ye, I dig.

You have to be fething insane to think that's worth $5,000 though.

It could be actually. It fits the style* of the old Armorcast** stuff, and IIRC they had some models done but not yet released when GW revoked the license. So there are various "common" kits, and some rarer ones that occasionally show up. In theory this could be one of them. Or, of course, it could just be a scam.

As an owner of a number of the original Armorcast models... that's looks perfectly consistent in design. As someone already mentioned they were just scaled up versions of epic models so they weren't highly detailed.

Rare or not... to me at least, it's not worth anything near that kind of cash.

What is that, 2 sets of DV stuff, a box each of the new termis and the new bikes, 5 half built vets, a couple of rhinos, a couple of drop pods and.. a converted banner dude?

Oh hold on there is a land raider, an attack bike and the rhinos can be turned into preds.

That doesn't sound terribad but I am used to AU prices, that limited codes was $150 or so alone.

Yup, that's an unreleased Armorcast tank.
Much of the Armorcast stuff was not very detailed because they were told that they models had to look like their Epic counterparts.
Still, I had their Tyranid vehicles and they were awesome.
